This Grade II Listed building sits on an ancient cobbled street overlooking Stockghyll stream. All the shops and restaurants of Ambleside are a short stroll. There are just 3 bedrooms, all doubles, each with a Victorian style iron bedstead. Each room has its own bathroom with a bath, shower and heated towel rail. Victorian landscape prints, original slate floors, narrow winding staircase and quality antique furniture all add to the historic and charming atmosphere. Despite our olde world charm we are right up to date with superfast Wi-Fi, Sky movies and a complimentary parking pass for over 30 local car parks. Please note, there is a 2 night minimum stay.

Wow what a beautiful guest house. Paul and Debbie were the perfect hosts. The guesthouse was immaculately clean and the little added touches of things like water and cakes in the room were so nice. My husband had the Cumbrian breakfast everyday and it really set him up for our daily walks. Wonderful local ingredients and very well cooked by Paul. Thank you both for a lovely stay. We will definitely be back again.

Hi Sandra, thank you so much for the lovely review and such positive compliments. Debbie does love to bake her little in room treats and is really glad you enjoyed them. Its actually a shame the weather was so warm during your stay as her chocolate Tiffin is to die for, but it just can't cope with the heat of last week. If it's a little cooler when you and Joe return you are in for a treat.

Just come back from a lovely few days away at the Waterwheel. We really couldn't fault it! The B & B is right in the heart of town, but away from all the hussle and bussle and overlooking the beautiful river and water wheel. Right from the outset we had such a warm welcome from Debbie and Paul, which continued throughout our stay. The room was lovely, very clean and so many thoughtful touches from bubble bath, bath salts, gorgeous Bath House toiletries to home made cakes each day! You won't have to get in the car at all, everything is on the doorstep. Such a lovely, relaxing few days. We'd highly recommend Waterwheel Guesthouse and definitely be back! Thank you for a lovely stay :)

We had an absolutely fantastic stay with Paul and Debbie at the Waterwheel guesthouse! The room was beautifully decorated, impeccably clean and well provisioned (with yummy homemade flapjack). Breakfast was very tasty with a good selection of options. The B&B is well situated in Ambleside and close to all local restaurants and shops. A very handy (and free!) parking permit was provided for the duration of the stay which could be used in Ambleside and in various other towns. We couldn't have asked for better hosts. Paul and Debbie are super friendly with helpful advice on where to go for day trips / where to eat etc. There are a selection of laminated walking maps available to borrow too which was very useful too. I would highly recommend a stay at the Waterwheel guesthouse. You won't be disappointed. ☺️

The hotel could not be at a better location. Set upon a beautiful water wheel, the hotel really lived up to its name. Paul and Debbie who ran the hotel were just the most loveliest of people and I will truly miss staying with them. They made sure everything was super clean, fresh and the breakfast in the morning was gorgeous. The hotel is located near a couple of lovely restaurants and cute crystal shops. The rooms were excellent and the facilities definitely 5 star quality. The hotel is a small but absolutely cozy and calm place to stay and I would one million percent consider going back. I would one hundred percent recommend and want to thank Paul and Debbie for making me and Lucy’s stay unforgettable. Thank you
