A comfortable, value for money place to stay without putting the family to the inconvenience of having us to stay. Close to their home and somewhere where we could all eat together in the evening. Perfect place for us to stay often.

WOW! We didn't know the Premier Inn had arrived this far into the Lakes and when we found out and that it's only 3 years old, we were frothing at the mouth with excitement.

We LOVE Premier Inns, modernised ones and brand new ones, you know exactly what you're going to get and we're rarely disappointed. No worries about not having a bath because they all have one (you need this after a hike) , the beds are so comfy too.

Rhian greeted us on Sunday upon arrival, she's just what you need after a car journey, someone bubbly and positive. The reception area is immaculate and those gorgeous chairs are what you'd expect in a gentleman's lounge, a really nice touch.

Everywhere is super clean, even the hand rails underneath are gleaming, the lift (oh yes!!! Joy! they have two lifts and they're quiet, seriously, you can't hear them move! ) is sparkling clean too. Our room, 115, is as if someone just decorated and laid the carpet, it looked brand new. The bathroom too, no stains, no marks, cracks, everything ultra clean, no damp smells either, this room is dry and the towels dried in the day even though there's no heated towel rail.

We were told the hotel is full and from the car park you could tell, this is February, yet it's mega popular - but so quiet, all residents here have been super quiet, we can't here anyone.

We will definitely come back, it's a wonderful location to explore the fabulous flattish walks around Crummock Water and Buttermere lake, the Coast, Cockermouth, Braithwaite, beautiful Bassenthwaite, Whinlatter Forrest, Skidaw and Keswick.

Excellent prices, if you book way in advance you'll get blinding deals. I don't think I'd bother with a holiday cottage anymore, this place is quiet, super clean and relaxing.

Only about a 20 minute drive from Keswick, this is worth considering as an option for a hotel stay when visiting the Northern Lakes. Easily reached by car with a large car park. A bit of a walk into Cockermouth itself, along main roads, so not advisable with children.
Very comfortable rooms. Do take advantage of the special dinner, bed & breakfast upgrade which is great value. Meals are taken in the adjacent restaurant which does get busy so booking here is also advisable. At the very least, ask the reception staff to book for you when you check in.
The menu selection is very good for the evening meal and a good breakfast the following morning to set you up for a good walk on the northern fells!
Will definitely consider this again as a hotel option for the Lake District and considerably cheaper than actual staying within the National Park if you don’t mind the short drive.

Checked in and shower kept going hot and cold, water dripping out, bathroom fan damaged, Night reception callum told me I would get a possible refund, spoke to afternoon receptionist karen, she told me all premier inn hotels have different owners and there's nothing we can do, disgusting customer service, would not recommend to anyone, i think the receptionist are prone to lying.
The brewers fayre is even worse, ordered 3 fish and chips and a kids meal, 30 mins later 1 cod and chips came out with kids meal, and we thought the other 2 were on its way, 20 mins later no sign, so we called the waiter, and he had laughed and said i thought I heard 3 cod and chips but wasn't sure, very unprofessional, after I had finished my meal and another 20 minutes wait the other 2 meals came out. Had asked for salt 5 times, and waiter seemed out of his zone and couldn't understand that i wanted some salt, fyi i wouldve got this myself but wasn't allowed due to table service only.
The staff at this hotel and restaurant are of very poor standard.
No checks were made on ourselves for covid, straight seated on our table.

We have stayed in Premier Inns a few times and always found them good value for money, clean, comfortable, with working WiFi & TV etc and that applies to Cockermouth Premier Inn as well. We've not had problems with this chain before and I would have given 5 stars but for the attitude of the breakfast staff.
I appreciate that these are very difficult times for hotels with all the extra cleaning etc. However the breakfast arrangements don't work when the hotel is full. The serving staff did their best under difficult circumstances.
We booked and paid for 2 day's breakfasts. The first morning we went down at the allotted time and joined a long and slow-moving queue. There seemed little point being given a time-slot when everyone was waiting so long and the whole process took about an hour and a half. The second morning we went down 15 minutes late to try and avoid another bottleneck, but when we reached the head of that day's queue we were told our breakfast had been cancelled and we were refused entry for lateness, although the cost was refunded later. Whatever the rights and wrongs of the situation the breakfast management staff were unacceptably rude, unpleasant and unapologetic. Luckily Cockermouth has plenty of nice cafes serving breakfast with a better welcome than this place. Whatever happened to the idea of hospitality?
On a positive note, I would like to thank Karen on reception who was exceptionally friendly and helpful throughout our stay.

We stayed at the Premier Inn at Cockermouth for 2 nights and were more than happy with the accommodation and service we received. Our room was clean and spacious and the hotel had taken the necessary steps to enable the safety of all it’s guests. We were greeted on arrival by Dawn in reception who explained everything to us and reassured us about changes made. We were told if we needed anything just to ask. She was cheerful and we felt confident that we would be looked after.
Our experience in the dining room was excellent. We had two wonderful breakfasts and the only difference was that the food was brought to our table instead of being a self service option. In our opinion this was a plus as the food was freshly made and hot on arrival. Also people weren’t milling around in the dining room and the atmosphere felt calmer. Screens had been erected between tables to ensure safe distancing.
All the staff were extremely friendly, kind and courteous. They were coping with different and at times difficult circumstances but nothing was too much trouble for them. We don’t usually name staff but feel we have to mention Barbara and Amy in the dining room. Although they were busy they always made time to chat with us and answer any queries we may have had. We felt sad that during our stay not all guests appreciated the lengths that staff went to to ensure guests were well cared for and above all kept safe. The staff were in our opinion very professional and we will have no hesitation in returning to the Premier Inn at Cockermouth, in fact we have already recommended this place to many of our friends. Thank you for enabling us to enjoy a much needed break.

The hotel looks as if it is a newer build, which means it’s lovely and modern. It is attached to a Brewers Fayre restaurant which offers a wide selection of food and drinks.
Staff are very friendly and helpful and catered to any of our needs. We stayed during the Covid situation, and the hotel dealt with this brilliantly.

Location wise, it is situated perfectly in driving distance for Keswick (20 minutes) & Windermere (approx 50minutes).

The room was great, typical premier inn, clean, modern & functional. Hangers, towels, hairdryer, TV with freeview, plenty of plug sockets. The bed on arrival was not properly made, and the under-sheet did not fit the bed, however this was a minor inconvenience.

Tip: ask reception for a take away list on arrival. Amazing Chinese close by.

Overall a wonderful stay, and would recommend to anyone looking for a comfortable stay, close to the attractions in the Lakes.

Stayed here for a couple of nights just after it reopened after CV lockdown. I enjoyed a warm and efficient greeting from Sophie who briefed me about procedures and cleanliness rules. The reception was safely laid out with perspex screens and a one way system. Each evening I ate in the Brewers Fayre next door which was well organised by the manager. The selection was a little limited but the food excellent. Thank you for looking after me.

As soon as we arrived we were warmly welcoming by Karen, such a lovely person nothing was too much trouble, and recognised us as returning guests .(Nice touch)Karen fully explained the situation with the restaurant and I got booked in, but on my next request the restaurant was booked up so that night I took Karen's advice and tried Aspava ,WOW!!!!

I chose the hotel as I was travelling north to study family history in Whitehaven, but the PI in Cockermouth looked more attractive than Whitehaven. An important issue is that parking should be free to patrons and it was in Cockermouth, and the sister hotel in Kendal charges for onsite parking.
It was easy to find, on a roundabout just outside Cockermouth, though once inside the layout was like a warren, and initially it was taxing, trying to find the room from reception with luggage and reception from the room, though there was a lift, which again is important if you have luggage. Only one worked.
My major issue was finding a soiled pair of child's pyjama bottoms on the floor under the single bed, and when I took it downstairs to the receptionist I had the feeling I was being troublesome raising the issue. I was given a complimentary breakfast but the attitude was fractionally defensive, and the corporate practise of fobbing problems off with a small voucher or similar is becoming too much of a regular a practise and is annoying in my opinion.
The free wifi was very slow and phone connections almost unuseable. The bed was comfy, bathroom clean, towels fluffy but I always feel the rooms could do with a fridge and a safe at the very least.
Dinner was very acceptable following the long drive, and breakfast was well cooked and served, particularly the mushrooms which can be dry, and were in Whitley Bay. Nice to be offered porridge and poached eggs though I don't think they were displayed on the menu.
Overall I would stay with Premier Inn again, but would choose my hotels carefully.
