Detailed Reviews
Arriving in the area for work not having organised anywhere to stay, a work colleague recommended Graysonside. Over the following 3 months I stayed in five different rooms or apartments, all individual but always beautifully styled an maintained. I was well looked after by Jan and Andrew the staff and made to feel absolutely welcome. Breakfasts were nicely presented and great quality, from simple cereal and toast to the full cooked.
Even if work doesn't take me to the area again, I shall definitely be back to be spoilt at Graysonside.

Lovely bed and breakfast! We were three people so booked 2 rooms (generous doubles). They were both lovely - had very nice en suites, lots of character, very comfy beds and all the nice little touches you'd expect of a good hotel room (nice towels, tea and coffee, hairdryer, toiletries, clothes hanging space, adjustable heating, probably more I can't remember). One room was also attached to a private living room, small dining area and a very well fitted kitchen (complete with oven, hobs, toaster and loads of cooking equipment/implements). All very nicely decorated with some lovely exposed stonework in some places.
Breakfast was very good. Cereal, yogurt, toast, fresh fruit, full cooked breakfast, coffees/teas and the waitress kept coming and checking on us to make sure we had everything we wanted. Had some lovely views across some fields too. We arrived after dark and the owner was very helpful and chatty - giving us local advice and all the information we needed for a comfortable stay (and a fresh bottle of milk for our fridge - nice touch).
Last note, it's very close to Cockermouth and just off a good main road but far enough away from it that the traffic noise did not disturb at all and for it to feel very secure. All in all a very pleasant country retreat!!

This is our second stay at Graysonside. We stayed in the brand new Woodland Suite which is dog friendly. We loved it, the Woodland Suite has the wow factor when you walk in. It is spacious, modern, all brand new and immaculately clean. The location of Graysonside is excellent for exploring the western lakes and is in a very picturesque setting. The woodland suite has its own enclosed patio with table and chairs and it was lovely to sit outside there on an afternoon and chill. Jeanette is very friendly and welcoming and I wouldn’t hesitate to highly recommend and we will definitely be back......

We have not long returned home from a fantastic 7 night stay at Graysonside.
We booked The suite which comprised of an entrance hall a double room a separate single room a large lounge area and an amazing wet room that seemed almost as big as my kitchen. We slept well every night and were provided with A gorgeous breakfast each morning that we selected the night before. I was rather confused that we were only given one slice of toast each and had to ask for more if we wanted it, this also went for the hot drinks. Jeanette and her team provided Excellent service and nothing was too much trouble (even niggles a bucket and spade for the beach as I did not bring any) terms of on-site parking really quiet, gorgeous grounds to sit and have a glass of wine in the evening Whilst talking back to the sheep in the neighbouring field.
Whilst talking back to the sheep in the neighbouring field in the neighbouring field.
The highlight of his day for my daughter was Mr Tom the resident cat, Charlotte made of. Every time she saw him and this was reciprocated by Mr Tom.
Would not hesitate at all to return or to recommend, thank you so much again Jeanette for a

We stayed in the newly refurbished Woodland apartment and it did not disappoint!
Modern, clean and exactly to our taste; we actually felt like we were at home.
Janette was fantastic and very welcoming, we were left a breakfast basket in the apartment as indoor eating restrictions had not been lifted till the following morning.
The breakfast we had in the beautiful dining room was delicious and filled us for the day.
Highly recommend and would definitely return!

We stayed here for 3 nights in the Woodland Studio here at Graysonside and have to say that it had everything anyone could want from accommodation. Very modern, exceptionally big and airy . Superb shower room and very comfortable king size bed. The kitchen was of a very high spec and had every bit of equipment/utensil you would need. Everything had been well planned and thought out. Janette made us very welcome and the breakfasts were exceptional. It was our first time in Cockermouth and it certainly won't be the last. Planning already to go back to see Janette next year, and looking forward to it. Ron & Norma

This place is great. Janette looked after us really well, as did her staff. The room we stayed in (4) was simply superb, with twin aspect windows overlooking the lovely gardens. The room itself was huge, with a matching sized, very comfortable bed, great bathroom and ample space around the bed itself. Janette was able to offer us one of the appartments, which was equally as nice, but we decided to stay in one of the superior rooms.
On the morning of our departure Janette showed us around the facilities - there's all types of accommodation available, all very well decorated, clean and spacious. All the furniture and bits & bobs are quality and tasteful.
Just a word about booking.......check with Janette on the phone, sometimes the web site doesn't reflect the actual availability - worth a phone call.
Oh, breakfast is also excellent.
Recommended - DEFINITELY.

Another warm welcome from Janette. As usual then hotel is spotlessly clean in all areas. Nothing is too much trouble and will assist where possible with all requests. Breakfast excellent as usual and service second to none. We cannot wait to visit again. Thanks for making our stay so special. It is always good to speak with other guests that make repeated visits.

Absolutely wonderful! Lovely hosts, great location, spotlessly clean, very comfortable accommodation. There was everything we needed for self catering, the bed was super comfy and the shower was amazing!! Large car park.
Some lovely touches - continental breakfast, milk, water and fruit juice in the fridge and lush toiletries.
Would 100% recommend!

Can't speak too highly of Graysonside. A warm, friendly welcome, everything finished to exceptional standard, sparkling clean and warm. The breakfast was excellent. The accommodation apartments, a mix of modern and historic buildings are attractively placed giving the complex a sense of openness. Lovely place to stay in every sense.
