Set in the heart of the Lake District in the village of Coniston we are a small guest house providing a warm welcome, comfortable rooms and a great breakfast. We also have two great self-catering apartments each of which has two bedrooms, kitchen, living room and bathrooms. We are dog friendly (except the small double and one apartment - please check) and love having four-legged visitors. Our on-site car park means that guests don't have to worry about finding a space nearby, and because of our location often don't use their car during their stay. Our guests love watching the variety of birds which flock to our bird feeder.

My wife and I have recently enjoyed a first class short break at this lovely guest house in a quiet part of Coniston. We have previously stayed as B&B guests, however this time we stayed in one of the superb self catering apartments. Very impressed from the moment we arrived, spotlessly clean and equipped with everything you could possibly need. Nice to be able to have a choice of King or Queen size beds, very good quality pillows and bed linen made for a comfortable stay. Our hosts Tracy and Michael are always a joy to deal with, great communication and nothing is too much trouble. Bluebird Lodge is in an ideal location, just far enough out of the village to be very peaceful but with all the local pubs and shops only a 10 minute walk away. We can't recommend this accommodation highly enough and are already looking forward to our next break. Thanks again Tracy and Michael - our batteries are well and truly "re-charged". See you again soon.

Bluebird Lodge is in a quiet location a 10 minute flat walk from the village. Ample parking and good wifi connection. We arrived early so parked the car there and returned later for check in. The breakfast was really good, with freshly chopped fruit salad, full English and lighter options. I have coeliac disease and require a gluten free diet. This was easily catered for, even sausages, and ingredients were checked on other items if requested too which was reassuring. There was even a gluten free snack on the hospitality tray in the room, a lovely touch. There is an outside seating area looking towards The Old Man of Coniston which was ideal for a coffee on return from a day’s walking. Tracey provided us with a circular route for The Old Man which we did in reverse, which meant a steep climb up in places and a slightly more gradual route down, without the narrow edges which we preferred. Our room was comfortable, a very large bed which did take up most of the room and there was a shower over the bath Overall a very pleasant stay and we will return when in Coniston.

Thank you very much for this very detailed review, Stuart. We're pleased that you enjoyed your stay and that you felt your gluten-free diet was well catered-for. You were brave going up the Old Man the steep way - not my favourite!! We look forward to seeing you again soon.

I stayed at Bluebird Lodge for two nights last week, unfortunately due to a last minute emergency my wife was unable to accompany me as planned. Nice welcome, hosts Tracey and Michael are lovely and very obliging and the room / suite was immaculately clean and very comfortable. This location is perfect for a peaceful break, Coniston is only a 20 minute walk away along a flat footpath with access to the pubs and eating places in the village. Breakfast was excellent with a good choice which is made the night before and left outside the breakfast room on a form. Fresh fruit salad, fruit juices and a full English with toast and tea or coffee was a great start to the day. Bed was very comfortable, bathroom very well appointed - wifi is available and worked well. All in all, a great stay and welcome opportunity to re-charge batteries. I've already booked a return visit.

Lovely quiet and clean B&B. Room 4 was perfect for 2 medium sized dogs having fair amount of floorspace and being a few feet from the front door allowing for quick nips out for night time toileting! It was nicely furnished. Breakfast was lovely with a good choice. Hosts couldn't be friendlier. Only very minor improvement I would hope for would have been that dogs could be taken into breakfast room instead of being left in room. Luckily our two are not troubled by being left alone for an hour. Oh, and the small TV made watching England beat the Dutch less enjoyable! (Wouldnt have worried us if hadnt been for the football!) That said, would definitely be back. Great views and only 15 mins from Cafe on the lake.

Thanks for the high scores and lovely comments Peter. We're really pleased that you enjoyed your stay. We are mindful that not everyone is a dog-lover so we try to keep the breakfast room dog-free, although we have work around solutions for dogs that can't be left. Luckily all our rooms are on the ground floor, so they're never far away. We hope to be able to welcome you back in the future.

Bluebird Lodge is simply a wonderful place to stay in Coniston. Comfortable, warm and welcoming, its location is superb - very close to Coniston Water and the nearby village, with the Coniston Inn next door and a spectacular view of the Old Man of Coniston from the breakfast room. To top it off, Michael and Tracy are exceptionally friendly and helpful. A perfect guest house!

Stayed here back in November 2021 and was suitably impressed. Needed a couple of nights B & B last week so decided to book again. On arrival the owners let us use the dining room to eat our take away evening meal and couldn’t have been more accommodating, we were provided with cutlery, plates, napkins, the whole nine yards. They were outstanding! Add to that the breakfast choice that was available and you’ve got a winner every time. I’m confident we shall return again, we loved it.

Once again, another fabulous stay. Owners go above and beyond to provide everything you could need for your stay. Breakfast was delicious with plenty of choice. We took our Labrador on the stay and he was well received by the owners big jar of biscuits for them and towels in entrance. There is plenty to do in the area, lovely walks and lake on the door step, which has a cafe and toilets.

Absolutely fabulous facilities and accommodation, we found this after a horrific experience with a property up in the village that was incredibly uncomfortable and a bed that was unsleepable. We were welcomed into the apartment which has everything you would like and more including a welcome pack for the dogs, sofa blankets, tea, coffee and hot chocolate to name but a few. Entering the apartment there is a fabulous sitting room with large l shaped sofa, fully equipped kitchen with full sized fridge, freezer, oven, dishwasher and fully equipped kitchen. Wonderful bathroom with shower and bath. Then two beautifully decorated and presented rooms. So pleased to have found this absolutely gem, will be recommending it highly at every opportunity and hope to return in the not to distant future

Perfectly situated in Coniston, a short walk to the village center and next to Coniston Water this is an ideal place to stay when visiting the Lake District. The warm welcoming couple who run Bluebird Lodge are very friendly and do everything to make sure you have a great breakfast every day and great stay by going the extra mile. Dog friendly and amazing views of the Old Man of Coniston over breakfast make this one of the most inspiring and accommodating places to stay in the Lakes. We would recommend Bluebird Lodge and will definitely go back there again.
