Set in the heart of the Lake District in the village of Coniston we are a small guest house providing a warm welcome, comfortable rooms and a great breakfast. We also have two great self-catering apartments each of which has two bedrooms, kitchen, living room and bathrooms. We are dog friendly (except the small double and one apartment - please check) and love having four-legged visitors. Our on-site car park means that guests don't have to worry about finding a space nearby, and because of our location often don't use their car during their stay. Our guests love watching the variety of birds which flock to our bird feeder.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Absolutely fabulous facilities and accommodation, we found this after a horrific experience with a property up in the village that was incredibly uncomfortable and a bed that was unsleepable. We were welcomed into the apartment which has everything you would like and more including a welcome pack for the dogs, sofa blankets, tea, coffee and hot chocolate to name but a few. Entering the apartment there is a fabulous sitting room with large l shaped sofa, fully equipped kitchen with full sized fridge, freezer, oven, dishwasher and fully equipped kitchen. Wonderful bathroom with shower and bath. Then two beautifully decorated and presented rooms. So pleased to have found this absolutely gem, will be recommending it highly at every opportunity and hope to return in the not to distant future

We arrived home yesterday after a weekend break at this fabulous b&b. We stayed in the king suite, which was perfect! Very spacious with lots of storage space and a seating area overlooking the old man of Coniston, was lovely area to sit with an early morning cuppa. Tracy and Michael are great hosts, very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Breakfast is very good and plentiful, served in the breakfast room which is lovely with beautiful views looking out to the old man of Coniston. This was our third visit and we are already thinking about our next.

Bluebird Lodge is simply a wonderful place to stay in Coniston. Comfortable, warm and welcoming, its location is superb - very close to Coniston Water and the nearby village, with the Coniston Inn next door and a spectacular view of the Old Man of Coniston from the breakfast room. To top it off, Michael and Tracy are exceptionally friendly and helpful. A perfect guest house!

I stayed at Bluebird Lodge for two nights last week, unfortunately due to a last minute emergency my wife was unable to accompany me as planned. Nice welcome, hosts Tracey and Michael are lovely and very obliging and the room / suite was immaculately clean and very comfortable. This location is perfect for a peaceful break, Coniston is only a 20 minute walk away along a flat footpath with access to the pubs and eating places in the village. Breakfast was excellent with a good choice which is made the night before and left outside the breakfast room on a form. Fresh fruit salad, fruit juices and a full English with toast and tea or coffee was a great start to the day. Bed was very comfortable, bathroom very well appointed - wifi is available and worked well. All in all, a great stay and welcome opportunity to re-charge batteries. I've already booked a return visit.

Lovely B&B, very friendly and helpful owners who would do whatever they could to make you comfortable. The bed was so comfy I actually slept really well which is unusual, breakfast is ordered the evening before and is very, very nice, the mixed fruit portion is lovely. The Lodge is very convenient for both Coniston Water and the village, both are lovely to investigate and hold plenty on interesting facts and info.

We stayed for 5 nights, which is longer than many visitors who stay a night or two whilst passing through. It suited us really well as a base for the visit to the area though. The B&B was lovely and comfy. I requested non-feather pillows when booking and had confirmation of the request quickly; this care was shown throughout the visit. Michael and Tracy were lovely hosts and made the place really welcoming. Breakfasts were a treat, and used local produce which we really appreciated. The sausages looked a bit skinny but they were proper meat and delicious - a real local treat. My favourite though were the pancakes with warm compote. The icing on the cake was being able to eat whilst watching the birds on the bird feeder and being joined one day by a Greater Spotted Woodpecker... The B&B is in a lovely quiet location but within easy walking reach of the village, Lake Coniston, and the Bluebird cafe.

Thank you so much for this lovely review. We love watching the birds, especially the woodpeckers, and we're glad you enjoyed seeing them too. Michael's pleased that you enjoyed his pancakes! Our sausages are handmade by our local butcher, so they sometimes vary in shape and size but never in taste or quality!

We have just got home after a few days in the Lake District, we stayed with Tracy and Michael for a few nights at the Bluebird Lodge which we loved, they we're very welcoming, very helpful and nothing was too much trouble, we booked a small double room which was perfectly fine for us, they provided a wide choice of breakfast options and the food tasted amazing. We visited the Bluebird Café each day for lunch which is located at the Coniston boat launch, which provided great food at great prices, we also visited the Coniston Inn twice for our evening meal which is conveniently located across the road from the Bluebird Lodge, the customer service and the food was 5 star and we would highly recommend.
