As with any B&B it's the small things (for me) that make the difference and as I arrived reasonably sodden from walking in the rain all day the "drying racks" were already out for use with our boots going into the warm drying cupboard. The room was spotless and breakfast a joy. All in all a lovely place to stay.

Had a lovely long weekend stay here in Coniston. Situated close to all amenities and only a short walk to Coniston Water Orchard Cottage is the perfect place to stay. We were warmly welcomed by Jean and David who are friendly and helpful and recommended places to visit, walks and places to dine out. We had a lovely room looking out onto the beautiful garden and enjoyed the hearty breakfast served to us each morning. Highly recommended.

Tried twice before to stay up in the Lakes but covid made us cancel. So we found this on a late booking and were delighted to get it in the middle of the village. Clean, fab brekky, major shower, powerful and woke you up in the morning to start the day refreshed once you've had the full english. Jean and Dave lovely people. Great spot within easy reach of food and drink, and once in the car you will find some gorgeous walks not too far away, Plus on this trip the weather stayed warm and dry.

We stayed here for a couple of nights and really enjoyed our stay. We chose it for its location and found it was better than we thought as everything is very close by but far enough away from the village main hub, and was lovely and quiet. Jean and her husband looked after us really well and im sure my waistline was bigger when we left due to the substantial breakfasts. Nice clean room with a comfy bed and good sized hospitality tray which was topped up every day. Wish we coild have stayed longer as there lots of activities to do in the area especially waterspprts and walking.

We have just returned home from a 2 night stay at Orchard Cottage, Coniston. We are regular visitors to Coniston, usually staying at the Park Coppice Caravan site however we decided we would like to visit Coniston without the children to explore places we can’t usually explore with them. The reason we initially booked Orchard Cottage was because we were immediately attracted to all of the 5* excellent reviews, especially people commenting on the cleanliness and friendliness of Jean and Dave. It’s safe to say we were not disappointed!! We arrived at Orchard Cottage and was firstly amazed with the location! We knew it was central to Coniston but we didn’t realise how central!! We were greeted By Jean and Dave who were both extremely welcoming and friendly, and straight away we felt like we’ve known them for years! We were shown to our room (Super King Size with En-suite) and were not disappointed!! The room was very spacious and spotless with tea and coffee etc waiting for us!! The Shower was powerful and was a dream (especially after walking the Old Man of Coniston in extreme weather conditions!!) and the bed was very comfortable. The following morning again a 5* service from Jean and Dave on the breakfast, excellent quality and you could tell straight away the food was bought fresh locally!! We would give Orchard Cottage 10 stars if we could and it’s needless to say we wouldn’t stay anywhere else and will be returning next year!! Thank you Jean and Dave, see you next time, Emma & Matt x

As seasoned walkers my wife and I have been to many b&bs over the years and can honestly say that Orchard cottage ranks up with the best of them, everything is on the doorstep (literally) pubs, restaurants, shops and even a couple of mountains right there for you to enjoy. And don’t be afraid to ask the hosts for their advice, such lovely people.
