New Year package for 3 nights. Amazing , comfy room with a balcony overlooking fields. Tea & coffee available in room, plus a fridge and bottles of water left. Bathroom clean with walk in shower ( it did tend to flood bathroom floor though so bathmat soaked ), toiletries & good sized bath towels.
We enjoyed all the meals that were included in the package, though we did find that drinks were on the expensive side , diet coke 200ml £3.
N.Y. eve itself was fun, starting with bubbles & canapés before a 5 course meal, then finishing with fireworks. Dancing the night away was an option too.

We would highly recommend a stay at The Grand, a lovely hotel, stylish decor, comfortable public areas with stunning views of the lake.

Our room was slightly small, however had everything we needed with a well appointed bathroom. We had asked for a fell view and were delighted to also have the most stunning lake view.

Great to be able to not only view drinks/ food menus on your phone but to have a instant update on your bill with the ability to pay the bill as you go along is technology at its best.

Breakfasts were wonderful, avocado on toast and the full cooked breakfast our favourite, certainly sets you up for the day. Slightly comical Fawlty Towers ‘a gin & orange, a lemon squash and a scotch & water’ moment when ordering a fresh pot of tea at breakfast.

We only ate in the restaurant on one evening, the food was really. We both had Bang Bang Chicken to start, tasty however the chicken could have been seasoned just a touch more. The Piri Piri Salmon was delicious, perfectly cooked with the most amazing sensation of flavours.

All the staff were attentive and friendly even when under pressure. The only thing that I feel could have improved would be timings of breakfast/evening bookings. You are encouraged to book a time slot, however this is not encouraged to be adhered to, which means everyone turns up at once. On our first morning for breakfast we were lucky to get the last table and we had to wait for 45 minutes following the time we had booked for a dinner reservation. If this could be reminded in check it it really would make a huge difference to ensure there is adequate spacing out of diners, sufficient cleaning in between diners, less pressure on waiting staff and an overall more pleasant experience.

Would that stop us staying again, absolutely not. We had a lovely stay and would highly recommend.

We stayed in room 35 Lake view with balcony, absolutely beautiful especially with a view of the lake. Plenty of room to move around the room had everything you could possibly want including an iron and ironing board. Quality linen on the bed and in the bathroom. A very large bed extremely comfortable in fact a lovely room altogether and would gladly stay again because there was nothing we didn't like. Covid was well observed and if you wished to have new towels or bed linen you had to ask

We stayed here for 2 nights in October, following a 3-night stay in Sept 21.

This hotel offers ideal location, (close to Grasmere lake & village) excellent rooms (though a couple do need some updating & maintainance) and superb food. It can feel quite pricey as there is no pool or sports facilities, but the service & restaurant usually make up for this. The restaurant cannot be praised highly enough and the standard of food is so high as to be the best we have experienced in the lake district, & so good as to be worthy of booking a table here even if not a resident. One issue that was of concern was that the staff were not wearing any Covid face covering in the enclosed public areas (like reception & restaurant) on our October visit, and this was depsite an assurance in writing that they would be, following our stay in Sept. This was also contrary to the signage around the hotel (Asking people to wear a mask in the enclosed public areas) and even their website and guest portal claimed that staff would be continuing to wear them. As an asthma sufferer, this was of some alarm and made us feel uncomfortable so we complained and received an apology from the Hotel Mgr, explaining the hotel had decided to drop this precaution & also remove the protective screens in reception (without telling us in advance, despite me reminding them the day before our visit). The hotel Staff did then try to mitigate the issue by sitting us by an open door or windows (though not ideal at this time of year, & it didn't always happen). If other guests are concerned by this, they would be wise to check (directly in person) with the hotel to clarify what the policy will be for the period of their own stay, for their own peace of mind. Food recommendations include: (most items!) The 'Seafood board' from the 'Nibbles' menu which makes a nice (large) starter or even full lunch for two. Also the local rump of lamb, red curry and roast chicken are all fantastic, but we have never had a disappointing meal here. 👍🏻

We love it at The Grand, the room, service and food are always fabulous.

We always stay in the room with the balcony, it has the most amazing views over the lake and feels, it is such a delight to wake up to the sheep grazing just below the balcony, pricey but worth every penny.

The food is always inventive and delicious, we love the open kitchen which is always spotless. A particular favourite is the chateaubriand, served with the most delicious pepper sauce and the crispest chunky chips.

Always nice to have a drink on the terrace, taking in the views. The hotel is tucked away off the main drag, a perfect little hideaway.

We’ve just returned from an overnight stay and in all honestly didn’t want to leave.

Every detail was just perfect. From the toiletries, to the coffee machine. Everything is top quality and the best of the best.

The bed was one of the comfiest we’ve slept in and the shower was so powerful and luxurious. The room was very clean and fresh.

The views were incredible, from our room (42) and from the restaurant. The food was cooked perfectly with a great variety to choose from on the menu. We were so well looked after from all the staff.

Will definitely be returning again in the future. It was just the most relaxing and comfortable stay. Thank you!

Booked a two night stay in a Fell view room, having stayed many times previously. Upon arrival, found a wet towel on the dressing table, catching drips from the air-con. We were not made aware of this issue when checking in and had to ask the manager to what the problem was. He advised it was an ongoing problem, but he could get an engineer out the following day. This meant that the dressing table was not able to be used. We also discovered that one side of the bed was “sunken” and the bed was not king size, despite being advertised as such. We asked the manager for a room change, to which he said he would come back to us. To which he never did, and we had to go and find him to check. We were offered a room change for our second night to what he described as a lower standard of room. We accepted this as the prospect of a decent night sleep and being able to use the dressing table was needed. As we knew we were moving rooms, we couldn’t properly unpack and relax into the weekend as we should have been able to.
We had spent a great deal of money on this trip, including drinks and meals in the restaurant and were offered a measly £50 discount on checking out. The manager did very little to make things better, and all of the suggestions to rectify the issues came from us. He seemed uninterested in the problems and appeared to avoid any conversation or contact with us throughout the weekend. The level of customer service was pretty appalling.
We have stayed at the Grand on 7-8 occasions in the past couple of years. Having always enjoyed the hotel and always pleased to see the staff. We will now not be staying again. The previous hotel manager couldn’t do enough for the guests, but since he has left, the standards appear to have dropped.
This should have been a lovely, relaxing weekend in Grasmere. But instead, we ended up with a substandard room, living out of our cases and experiencing some very poor customer service from the hotel manager.

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights on the 22nd/23rd November and it was amazing from start to finish. We were given a lovely warm welcome on arrival from Louise and her son.

Our room was a Superior lodge room and it was a beautiful large room and spotlessly clean with all the luxury comforts you'd expect in such an hotel as The Grand

The hotel itself is so relaxing the decor is perfect and all the lovely individual seating areas are perfect for a relaxing G&T after a long day walking or just sightseeing in the lakes.

A big thank you to Lucy and Alice who work in the hotel they were super friendly and so much fun they made our little holiday perfect. They were so very hard working as are all the staff.
Sam the manager is one of the nicest mangers we've ever met also and has so much time for you.

We'd like to wish you all and your families a very merry Christmas and happy New year.
From Stan & Colette
We can't wait to come back to stay again real soon.

This was our first stay at The Grand Grasmere. The hotel is situated just off the centre of the village. The welcome we received from reception staff was warm and friendly. Our room which had a stunning Lake View was exceptionally clean and very comfortable. Free parking is provided at this hotel and the beautiful gardens that surround the hotel provide you with the opportunity to have a stroll before breakfast or to relax in and watch the sun go down over Lake Grasmere. While the ingredients served at breakfast were of a high quality and the service professionally delivered I feel there is room for improvement here. As one of my party followed a gluten free diet we were disappointed to find that the sausage and black pudding were not gluten free. Gluten free sausage is now widely available and perhaps the hotel would consider changing to a GF sausage. While Gluten Free bread was available it was served not toasted, perhaps this was to avoid cross contamination. If this was the case perhaps the hotel could purchase a second toaster for toasting GF bread. At no point throughout our breakfast were we asked if we needed more toast or tea, a courtesy visit to ask if we needed more tea or toast would have been appreciated. All in all, the breakfast experience was lovely but it was not a memorable occasion . I look forward to returning to The Grand soon and hope management will take a closer look at how breakfast can be improved upon that will match the service delivered in the rest of the hotel.

We stayed here not long after the Covid lockdown had ended so that we could go walking nearby. Despite all the restrictions we had a fantastic stay. The room with terrace in the lodge was lovely - spacious and very clean. Beautiful bathroom. The public areas were also immaculate and continuously being cleaned and sanitised. The restaurant and bars were only open to residents when we stayed which meant that they seemed a little empty at times but were busy enough and social distancing was easy. In the evening the restaurant was quite full. The bedroom and public areas have superb views through the big picture windows. The staff went out of their way to be helpful and were very friendly and polite. A particular mention for Maris who served us several times and in particular was very so nice on my wife's birthday getting a special dessert for her. The hotel is right in the heart of the village. We also ate at Tweedies next door which i would recommend. The food and service were excellent. A thoroughly enjoyable stay at The Grand and I would definitely return.

We were on the ground floor in the main building & there were a couple of steps down to the room. Reception, lounge & restaurant/breakfast room all fully accessible. The hotel has an annexe, The Lodge, about 15/20 metres from the main entrance. This has a ramp & looks accessible. Check with the hotel. They are extremely helpful.

Don't know anything about the Lytham hotel, not an area I am particularly interested in visiting. We just keep returning to the Grasmere hotel, which is in a lovely village and very well run.
