Twenty of us (and 4 dogs) stayed at the hotel and had a wedding, lunch and dinner together. Everything was arranged as we asked or better than we asked. The staff were exceptional, polite, helpful and over dinner quietly efficient. The standard of food was amazing, - simply the best vegetarian meal I have every had. The rest of the... More

We hadn't realised this was a vegetarian hotel when we booked it but the food was absolutely excellent and was a revelation to us as non-vegetarians. We slept well in our very comfortable bed and, in the room called Wainwright, we were delighted to discover we had a separate downstairs sitting area. The only downside was the heating: the storage... More

Could not fault the food or service it was amazing the entire evening. It's rare to find hotels that even cater to vegans, nevermind one that has such amazing and thought out food. Would highly recommend to anyone in the area.

Lovely location with nice views and access to walks/hikes. Dinner was great, as a vegan I welcomed several options and found the food healthy as well as delicious. Warm welcome with friendly and helpful staff. Perfect for a relaxing outdoors break. Every morning we had red squirrel visits outside the window which was wonderful. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful.

The grounds and the hotel itself cannot be faulted. We were here for a friends party and the staff could not have been more helpful. The rooms were HUGE, clean and tidy, with excellent views. The views from the grounds of the hotel are breathtaking and I wish we could have stayed longer. Highly recommend a stay here!

Called in today for coffee and cake. They are having some building work done outside but they apologised for this and it certainly didn't detract from the experience. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. It was a beautiful day but cold, blankets were available if we wanted to sit outside but decided to sit in the lounge. We ordered... More

We went to Lancrigg last year when this Hotel was under the long and smooth-running tenure of Robert. We'd heard rumour that The Lancrigg was now having trouble "holding its staff" and indeed - how true!! We booked a table for 9 for 6.30pm (there were 2 young children) and were met by an Ozzy/Kiwi guy in a dirty jumper... More

Beautiful hotel with relaxed and homely feel. We had the downstairs suite with bath in the room itself which was fun. The room was warm and had the most stunning views of the nearby fells which we enjoyed. What I enjoyed most about this place was the utter quietness of it after the business of Grasmere and other tourist Lake... More

We'd been well aware of the very good reputation this Vegetarian Country House Hotel has accrued over many years. We did also know that the Lancrigg Country House Hotel had changed hands earlier in 2016. After 30 years together my partner, totally vegetarian, and I decided to recognise this landmark with a special treat. We have stayed in several quality... More

Came here for my birthday weekend. It had been on my list of places to go for a while. Apparently dog friendly. I would say not. Our dog wasn't allowed anywhere other than the bedroom. This does not constitute a dog friendly hotel. The carpet in our room had some huge stains hidden by strategically placed furniture. It was all... More

Dear Madam, We are sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your experience at Lancrigg. I would just like to respond to a few of the points you have made. Our hotel is a dog friendly one as many of our customers know. Dogs are welcome to stay in our guests rooms, and to use the sitting room. However... More
