Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Everything was perfect. The beautiful lakeview from our clean, cosy & comfortable family room. Immaculate bathroom, with Molton Brown products and powerful shower. The Spa and post treatment relaxation room. Food & service during breakfast, dinner & in the lounge and the gluten-free options. The welcoming and friendly staff in all departments from the moment we arrived. The location with extensive lake/mountain walks from the door and into the village meant we didn’t use our car once during the 3 days. And the extra touches like the card and chocolates left in the room to make mum’s birthday special. Thank you, we will definitely return!

Great food in the restaurant and amazing breakfasts. Great location for easy access to village along with easy walks around local lakes. Great access to more strenuous hikes on the doorstep as desired.

A special core memory made for my birthday break away. Absolutely spoilt with those huge open glass doors overlooking the mountains and lake. If you’re lucky you might even spot the herons flying by. We completed the Coffin Route to Rydal (and back) which felt like you were walking in a scene from a picture frame - constantly. The food is a must try and the thermal spa is exactly what you need after your walk about. Giggle and laugh with the lovely staff members they’re such hard workers it’ll make their day worth while. Amazing quality of food to eat so don’t hold back.. Enjoy every moment I know we did!!!

This is mainly a review based on my experience as a wheelchair/rollator user with muscle dystrophy. There are only 3 disabled parking bays close to the entrance which is flat and wide, with automatic doors. The reception is spacious and lift (2) access easy. The accessible rooms, which overlook the eastern/delivery side, are huge, the bed - a superking, potentially twinnable - is firm and at wheelchair-seat height, 2 sturdy practical chairs with arms, wardrobe (normal height hanging rail) and dressing table (poorly illuminated) with drawers complete the furniture. Although the accessible bathrooms (I have stayed in both wet and lowered bath type rooms) are also huge they suffer from some serious design faults: The extractor fan control mechanism is virtually impossible to reach. The sink is far too small and totally impractical. The heated towel rail is too small to accommodate 4 towels. The lowered bath is narrow (even for an able person). There are no grab rails for anybody standing in it to shower, and there is no shower curtain!. Although there is space to place toiletries etc on the tiled area at the end of the lowered bath, there is absolutely nowhere to place anything in the wet room. Neither toilets have a lid. Despite having no practical surfaces in the wet room - remedied by dragging one of the chairs in - it is the better option for being able to wash thoroughly. I found the lounge area also hugely impractical - the sofas are too low, there are no other seats and eating in there impossible. The staff are marvellous and the breakfast superb.

Fourth stay, previously stayed in lake view room, junior suite and the top suite so thought we’d try the senior suite for a change. Very disappointed. Stains on the sofa which looked revolting, bed - although comfortable was damaged and no soundproofing whatsoever between us and next door. Heard everything from their toilet visits to other things…. Raised immediately with receptionist who said she’d try to do something to help us, absolutely nothing. Then in check out we were not even asked if we had enjoyed our stay. Didn’t even make eye contact. Raised our concerns via email on return home, still not had a response. Very poor.
