Stayed at the Station Inn after booking a last minute break when the weather was great in March 2022. From the minute we arrived the staff were helpful, polite and attentive. We were seen to straight away, shown to our room (which was much larger than we'd expected) and updated on breakfast/evening meals timings. Dined in their restaurant that evening. Meals were lovely, well presented and generous portions. Breakfast the next morning was included in the price of the room and was extremely tasty with plenty of choice. I had a slight issue with the booking site (not an issue with the venue) and it appeared I'd be charged twice. I called the venue and straight away on my return and they instantly refunding me while on the phone, no issues at all. Fantastic service. Would recommend and would return. Five Stars!

Stayed here for a couple of nights in our camper between Christmas and New Year having found it as Certificated Location on Camping and Caravanning Club web site. Camping facilities basic, a level hard standing beyond the Car Park but quiet and cheap (£10), just outside Kendal.

Food in pub mainly quality pub food, home cooked and massive helpings, everything we tried was nice and steak pie was just that chunks of steak in short crust pastry, chips the size of a thumb no way any of us could finish the plate! Range of local draft beers and friendly and attentive serving staff. No problem with orders right up to last order time; 9:00. Real log fire and locals playing dominos.

Stopped here for a quick visit to kendal. Great location train station 2 min walk, and it's only one stop into the centre of kendal or if you prefer a nice 30 to 40 min walk . The staff are absolutely amazing. I highly recommend you book a table in the evenings for food it's worth it. The rooms were way bigger than I had expected and very high standard outside seating areas great for families

Visited the pub for an evening meal whilst staying near by. I had tried to contact them via their Twitter page prior to our trip away to book a table, which they actively post on but I got no response so ended up phoning to book. This pub states that it is dog friendly yet on arrival we got the impression this was because they had to be due to their customer demographics, not because they actually wanted to welcome dogs! We had to ask for a bowl of water for our dog and the staff ignored her the whole time we were there - most dog friendly places always give your pooch a fuss! Good variety on the menu but the food was disappointing and overpriced - we had a pizza and a carbonara, which were both extremely oily. Staff seemed miserable, lacked customer service. We chose to venture further on our second night to find somewhere better to eat, when the original plan was to have both of our evening meals at The Station Inn. The only positive was that they did seem to be very compliant with Covid-19 measures.

We stayed for one night in September '22, and were very disappointed.
When we arrived, we found our way in from the car park and walked through what we thought must be the restaurant area, as tables were set up for service, with menus, cutlery, etc. We eventually found the landlady (?) sat in distant corner. She showed us to our room, which was very large, with a lovely big bed, although there was no information about breakfast, wifi, etc. We asked about an evening meal and were told that there was no cook, but Asda was a 5 minute drive away!
Once settled in, we wondered about breakfast, which was shown as being included on the website. We headed to the bar to check and have a drink. Once again we had to hunt down someone in the still empty bar and this time disturbed both the landlord and landlady in the same corner. The Doom Bar was off and when they tried to pour a pint of Neck Oil, it was apparent that the barrel was empty, although that didn't stop further efforts until the landlord eventually agreed to change the barrel. Once poured the beer was perfectly acceptable. While this was all going on, we asked about breakfast only to be told that it was not available, despite the website. Even without a chef, surely a continental breakfast can be achieved, particularly in a relatively remote location.
The following morning, after a good night's sleep and an equally acceptable shower, we packed and left. The pub was locked up, so having already paid, we just headed off in search of breakfast.
Overall, this place shows all the signs of having been a very nice pub, but needs someone who shows some sign of actually wanting to be there, if it's going to have any chance of lasting through the current economic situation.

Arrived to be told that there would be no breakfast supplied, despite having paid £160 B&B for one person for one night. Some explanation as to why not, & not having a chef until Sept, although they serve food from noon. How much effort does it take to supply a continental breakfast, they obvious know how many are staying and could cater accordingly, plenty of nice bakeries & delis, in Kendal, that could supply goods. In fact the little farm shop at the station could. I was then asked if I wanted to pay then or in the morning, I had already paid, but I said I would sort it out with him in the morning. He said he would give me some money back for the breakfast I hadn’t had. Booking.com was blamed for both the misinformation about the breakfast and the payment.

The room was comfortable, if old fashioned. Bed linen & towels were good. No milk supplied, & little in the way of tea bags & coffee. I would have chased up the milk, but it was late in the evening.

The water was hot, but the shower was rather pathetic, supplying a weak stream of water. Two tiny bottles of shampoo, but no body wash.

WiFi didn’t work, despite advertising free WiFi.

I had to search for a member of staff in the morning to explain that I had paid & there was no mention of the reimbursement for a lack of breakfast.

Would not advise staying.

I was keen to support my local pub upon it reopening until I was confronted by exorbitant beer pricing. I share the reaction of another local reviewer who was also shocked and disappointed. I was astounded to be told that a pint of moderate strength real ale was now over £5. This is over 20% more than it had been under the previous landlords (who had done a great job at The Station Inn over the years - thanks Dave & Andy!). The Punch Bowl at the other end of The Helm has real ale at well over £1 a pint cheaper and offers much better value for food & drink. Down the hill in Kendal real ale is available even cheaper. The Station must now be one of the most expensive outlets for real ale in the vicinity. I would urge the new owners to review how they treat us locals (& visitors too) and restore to us a good value local pub.

The Station Inn has been our local for nearly 30 years. We have seen 3 landlords come & go & they have all given us a friendly welcome & provided a good choice of reasonably priced beer & food. There was some concern about the new landlords being tenants of the brewery but we went to meet & welcome them to support their new venture when they opened. It was a bit like a Jekyll & Hyde experience, friendly & chatty in week one, new menus, new beers. Then over the coming weeks, price hikes, staff gone, reduced menu & the tenants avoiding eye contact & not talking to the customers. The reviews have gone downhill yet neither the tenants or the brewery seem to have made an effort to improve customer service. We pop in every few weeks to see if anything has changed but it is very demoralising especially as we have enjoyed such great times there. Looks like it will be the Punchbowl for us too!

Over priced. Ordered steak it arrived, chips were over done the board said it was served with chips mushroom and tomato I got lettuce... didn’t say anything. Ordered pudding I had a bread and butter pudding... my cream was off. Took 15 mins for staff to come over. No social distancing 🙁 eaten here a few times before. Never had an issue. Just this once. Hope it’s a one off.

We choose this place for an overnight stop as it is just a few miles off the M6 and a sat nav makes location easy. The rooms are in separate wing which is well heated and very well appointed. We had an evening meal which was good quality pub food and the breakfast was all you could ask for - served by cheerful and friendly staff. It was good value for money.
