Had a great stay at Hillside, Made to feel very welcome and given advice on local things to see and transport links. Rooms spotlessly clean and warm. Very nice breakfast on offer and would only stay at Hillside if I come back to Kendal
Hillside B&B KENDAL 4 nights b&b 8th September 2021 ROOM 3 Greeted by Richard who owns the place, he told us all about it and gave us some helpful information about the area. Free parking permit was given to us for on road parking. Not always easy to get a space close by though so beware if you can't walk far. Nice room at the front of the house, though very hot, there is a tower fan, which was on all night the first very hot night. Ensuite is sparkly clean, with an amazing shower and fluffy towels. TV has prime and iplayer which was great, we do our out and about during day/early evening so like to watch TV in evening. Good selection of tea/coffee stuff. Good selection of breakfast choices 😋 Hillside is as the name suggests on a hill, literally 5 mins walk from the town centre, great going down, harder coming back up the Beast 🙄😉 Lots of restaurants in the town. We tried, Indian, Mexican and Thai all were amazing 😋 A good stay and we would recommend this B&B ✅ This was our 4th stop on our honeymoon tour of the North. …
Wendy & Richard thank you much so much for a super time room was amazing beautiful view Nothing was to much to ask (not that we asked a lot ) We have recommended to our friends Thanks again guys hope to see you both soon From ash & billy 😁😁
Wonderful stay at the Hillside Bed and Breakfast. The room was comfortable and clean and came with great amenities. The hosts were absolutely fabulous - we received so many useful recommendations of where to visit and the breakfast in the morning was delicious. Free parking provided outside although you may have to park a short distance away - we were never more than 50m and it is really conveniently located for central Kendal with restaurants and shops etc. Perfect for exploring the Lake District.
I have to say Wendy and Richard are amazing. Very accommodating, welcoming and make sure your stay is as fab as they can make it. The rooms are impeccably clean, the breakfast is fantastic and they accommodate you very well. The rooms are serviced to perfection. Superb stay. HIGHLY recommend.
Richard and Wendy are friendly, helpful hosts; the B&B is well presented and comfortable; cracking breakfast. This came on a recommendation, and I wasn't disappointed. You know a place is good when it becomes part of the experience. You couldn't get much closer to the centre of town, in the middle of a conservation area and about 100 yards from where Postman Pat was conceived. Across the road is Castle Howe which affords you a brilliant view over Kendal. It's not too far to scout scar, where the you can see the southern and central fells laid out in their full glory. Richard and Wendy are also happy to suggest walks or drives you might otherwise have missed. One point. Just like it says, Hillside is on a hill. No big surprise there. Parking wasnt a problem.
Great communication from the start, welcoming hosts and a very convenient location for exploring without the car. Greek yoghurt and fresh fruit at breakfast particularly yummy. Practical advice given from our hosts about dining and the advise email to book dinner reservations ahead of arrival very useful.
I would recommend this bed and breakfast to any couple! Myself and my partner stayed here for two nights on a weekend break in Kendal. I was greeted by Wendy who was accommodating from the get go, let me know the Covid guidelines in the hotel and provided the parking permit and room key. Our room was cozy and very clean - the mini Kendal mint cakes were a nice touch too. The breakfasts are absolutely delicious, filter coffee which is always a bonus and the full English was cooked to perfection. Served by Richard who is very friendly and knows the Lake District well; he even helped us plan our day. Be prepared to park away from the bed and breakfast, however. The permit provided allows you to park in a number of different streets, some of which are right outside but others are around a five minute walk away. This was fine for us and didn’t cause any issues. Overall a very pleasant stay and I wouldn’t hesitate to book this bed and breakfast again!…
Brilliant!! Richard and Wendy very welcoming and knowledge of the area unsurpassed. They were helpful in the advice they gave of things to do, how to get there and carports etc. The guesthouse was spotlessly clean with sanitising units everywhere. My room was so comfortable and the bed very comfortable leading to a great nights sleep. Breakfast was spot on with a full cooked breakfast of bacon sausage egg tomato mushroom and baked beans wonderfully cooked. Excellent value Go on book it and you will not be disappointed, I promise you.
Clean, friendly, welcoming and homely. All the things you're after during a small getaway. Richard and Wendy were not only warmq hearted people, but extremely knowledgeable of the surrounding areas. A couple that are known to dabble in wonderful aqua-based exercise were recommended a vast scenic pond with local aquatic animals. The brekkie exceeded expectations, with an added bonus of some delicious homemade marmalade (our favourite!). As a whole, we would love to stay here again. Thank you.
