A one night stay here on way through to Edinburgh. Our room was spacious and very comfortable. Excellent cooked breakfast with veggie sausages! Only drawback was the very tight passage through to carpark.

Excellent town centre location. Bit of a tight car park entrance up an adjacent alleyway next to pub. Definitely not for SUVs. Accommodation was what appeared to be an old stable block outside. Overall good state of decor and condition (top notch basic!). Very much a locals pub - no frills. Decent cooked breakfast, with cereals on offer. Good value.

We visited on a wet and miserable November day and were in need of a substantial lunch to warm us up. We were not disappointed! I had Lamb Henry and my partner had Steak & Ale pie. Both were superb with very generous portions. Well worth a visit

Went here for a snack and was very surprised by the size of the portion delivered. Husband had a pie dinner which could have fed him two dinners. I ordered a fish finger sandwich which was delicious. Not complaining absolutely loved it. Friendly staff added to the experience.

Just returned from overnight stay at The Shakespeare Inn, what a little gem. Lovely room, clean , comfortable and quiet plus free parking. Excellent breakfast, freshly cooked and very well presented. Staff really friendly and helpful. I loved the genuine welcome of the place and it is incredibly good value for the money. Well worth a return visit.

Called in for a quick bite to eat before locating our weekend cottage. Was greeted by a really friendly bar man and enjoyed a lovely homecooked meal and wine. All the staff were very attentive asking was everything ok and if the food was to our liking, made us thoroughly feel at home

Stayed here for 4 nights. The owners were away for the first couple of days but we were well looked after by a great team, from Mike who keeps a good selection of cask beers in excellent condition, through the rest of the bar staff, the chef, the girl who served an enormous breakfast and kept the accommodation spotlessly clean....

A central location, with friendly staff and excellent food. The room was well appointed and comfortable. The only small downside could have been the parking. If you have a wide car, it will be very challenging to get it into their parking area!

Lovely warm welcome from the staff. The room was more than adequate. The bathroom could do with some attention but perfectly ok. There is parking at the rear of the hotel but the entrance is very narrow. Ideally placed for the high street.
