The location is very convenient being right next to motorway exit - but far enough away to seem very rural. Staff were excellent throughout, from reception to bar staff to waiting staff. Room was quite big and comfortable. I guess I had one of the older rooms, so no flat screen TV and bathroom was a bit tired in places....

Ideal stop over for work but I booked with some trepidation, unsure whether it could be a BIG mistake.............which it wasn't. Easy parking with a huge car park. Simple check in by a very friendly and pleasant lady. Room was easy to find. Must have been refurbished fairly recently as it was pristine. All furnishings were of good quality. The...

The title sums it up. As usual the owners and staff were most welcoming - special mention for Janet in the restaurant who as always was most helpful. Well deserved continued AA 3 stars for Cumbrian hospitality.

We visit this hotel every few months as a special treat for us. We have an overnight stay, a meal and a few drinks. All our experiences have been superb, and we cannot fault a single thing. The rooms are clean and spacious, the bar/restaurant areas are very welcoming, but the best point about this hotel is the exemplary attitude...

We popped in for a light lunch with friends but could have stayed by the fire all afternoon. Great service, super wine list, lovely food. We only had a light lunch on this occasion but it tasted great and was beautifully presented. Will be back.

Stayed for one night while at the Kendal Festival - lovely hotel, staff very helpful and a lovely bar to sit in at the end of the night by the fire. Would stay here again - price of the room including breakfast was very reasonable and the selection at breakfast covered all options.
