Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I visited for a few days and stayed in a single room. Yvonne was absolutely lovely and really cares about her guests and their needs. The room was not the biggest but as a solo traveller it was room enough for me and vital to any stay the bed was extremely comfortable. There are little extra details such as hot water bottle if needed and sewing kit. It is also nice to see that Yvonne uses sustainable products and provides a bin for recycling on the landing. I walked into town which took about 10 minutes. There is no designated parking and even though the demand for on-street parking is high I never failed to find a parking spot close to the accommodation. I had a lovely stay and would not think twice about returning if the opportunity arises.

From the moment we arrived Yvonne made us so welcome that it was more like visiting a friend. The room was spacious and had everything you would need for a stay. The large bed was so comfy that we slept like babies. Although there was no bath, the shower was large enough for anybody, and the toiletries provided smelt wonderful. A hot breakfast was not provided, but there was cereal, fruit, tea and coffee and Yvonne also provided alternative options for those who required them. There was also home made biscuits and a variety of cakes provided in you room and these were replenished when needed. Nothing was too much trouble for Yvonne and we will visit again when next in the area. We highly recommend this guest house, you will have a wonderful time there.

Great communication and service right from the booking. The whole house was clean and welcoming as well as my spotless room and ensuite. But most importantly, i enjoyed staying here. I had fun! I was visiting as i was performing at a venue in the town. After travelling all the way from Devon in rubbish traffic, i couldnt have been happier to arrive somewhere where there was a HOT WATER BOTTLE waiting on the bed! There was a great variety of hot drinks choices and some super yummy shortbread (i think this may have even been homemade). Every tiny little detail from the little fun signs around the house to communicate important little details, to the crossword left on your bed. I was actually sad to leave! Thank you Yvonne for being such a warm, welcoming and friendly host.

What a lovely weekend we had at The Lyndhurst, Yvonne was a wonderful host. She was very knowledgeable having run the business for nearly 20 years. She is very relaxed and chatty and immediately makes you "feel at home." Great choices for breakfast and a lovely clean room. Located on the edge of town in a quiet street by the river. Highly recommended, we will be back

From the room which was clean and comfy to the public areas which are charming and inviting to a fantastic breakfast and last but not least a welcoming host in Yvonne. We stayed at Lyndhurst for 2 nights on 16 and 17 September 2022 in room number 6. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and Yvonne was a fantastic host where nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was delicious, the room very comfortable and the King Size bed was perfect. The only negative is the parking - we arrived back late on Saturday night and there was no parking close by at all, and we struggled to find a spot in the narrow lanes. Other than that - it was a real blessing to stay at Lyndhurst. Would I stay there again - God willing, absolutely !!

The guest house is situated in a perfect location literally a 5 minute walk from Kendal Town Centre and access to all the bars, shops and restaurants, yet quiet enough to get a good nights sleep. The rooms where spacious very clean with tea/coffee facilities, the breakfast was more than enough with a great choice of food. The best part was the owner Yvonne, made us feel welcome even before we got there!! literally cannot do enough to make your stay memorable. Will definitely return to the Lyndhurst.

Room 2 at Lyndhurst Guest House has views over the river and is a very comfortable, peaceful and quiet single room in which everything needed is provided and very thoughtfully placed within the room. The bed is "just right" [not too hard/not too soft] ensuring good sleep every night. Yvonne's use of crochet items to hold tissues, plant pots, cushion covers, cover for hot water bottle and to act as curtain ties is an amazing and very different decorative/practical touch. The handwash and hair products provided are "green" and of good quality. Everything within Lyndhurst Guest House is spotlessly clean. Yvonne is a warm-hearted, friendly and welcoming host making the stay at Lyndhurst special. Her shortbreads and tea cake are delicious. And the little touch of a lemon wedge in carafe of water shows Yvonne's attention to detail and determination to ensure guests enjoy their stay. Yvonne is an excellent communicator and her pre visit information with maps proved really helpful especially her tips on where to eat/drink. Definitely recommend.
