Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My partner and myself stayed here for 2 nights. The room was fine but the place does need some TLC. The location is brilliant but u do need to park in the public car park at a cost of £11.40 for 24hrs. The biggest let down for me was the attitude of the female member of staff who was very robotic and had absolutely no personality, not once did she make small talk or show any intrested in the customers i really dont think she wanted to be there so maybe a change in career is needed.

For what we paid , it was reasonable budget , clean accommodation . What I didn’t like was that as first impressions go , the top floor of the hotel , window sills had empty glasses / half filled glasses presumably out of the rooms . Didn’t really give us a good feeling. They were there the whole time we stayed . Tried to get an ironing board later that evening but none available . This is a pub with rooms do not expect hotel facilities . Breakfast was OK , chap was very friendly which was nice . We couldn’t get in for dinner that night despite the dining room being empty but understandable as Keswick was super busy itself that day . The woman running the place seemed run off her feet . I loved the charm of the place it just needs a bit more focus on service I think and checking of halls / corridors. Shower head was a bit dodgy in room13. Excellent location !

Staff really nice people. Understaffed so running around like mad people. Not the fault of the staff or manager that the prices are so extortionate. The most expensive drinks I have bought in all my life. This includes City Centre London and New York. A pint and a glass of wine. £14.25. Unless the lottery numbers come up I won’t be going back. Pity, but there we go.

Why do they allow dogs up on the seats? We were only in for a drink but find it really off putting when we see dogs up on upholstered seats. At one point a woman took her dog outside presumably to relieve itself then straight back in & up on the seats.

Great little find. Situated in heart of Keswick near all shops and eateries. Room very clean and comfortable with an excellent hot power shower. Lovely bar (decked for Halloween) with a very friendly team. Would highly recommend, Plan to revisit.

We had lunch today, both had Scampi with chips and peas. Both very nice. They were NOT oven chips and the Scampi was cooked just right. The staff were welcoming and efficient. We would recommend The George.
