Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stayed for only one night as we just needed a chill. The hotel was just what we were looking for, close to the town with great views, and parking. We were greeted by very friendly staff, parked up and went for a walk. When we came back to relax before we went out for dinner we lay on the bed and noticed that the pillows had a stale, sweaty smell. The staff on duty were all apologies and changed them for us. Overall the room was OK , but a tad small for the price. The dressing table unfortunately had a tv on it so you couldn't actually sit there to use the mirror, and the other mirrors in the room had no socket by them. Cleanliness wise it was spotless. Breakfast was superb, with a good choice and cooked/presented beautifully. The staff are fantastic. A lovely hotel, they just need keep on top of the basics

Lovely hotel. Stayed in relaxing, nicely decorated Room 2. It has a bay window with 2 very comfortable sitting chairs looking across to the lake. Great choice at breakfast - eggs Benedict was especially good. Staff very friendly and helpful. Location great for both access to lake, and to town.

Room 9 for 3 night stay. View from my room was nothing short of amazing overlooking the lake and mountains beyond this hotel is located in the centre of Kewick no more than a 10 minute walk to the bus station and Derwentwater Lake. The hotel in general and certainly my room was kept spotlessly clean throughout my stay. The staff were very polite and friendly with advise about the local area and each day on my return to the hotel would ask me how my day had been and take an interest in what i had been doing whilst out and about. Included in the price per night for my room was a free breakfust which comprised of a buffet selection of fresh fruit and cereals followed by a full Cumbrian Breakfast which i just about managed to finish each morning.Overall the breakfast was plentyful and of a very good standard. Hopefully i will have the opportunity to visit the Lake District again and i would have no hesitation in booking a further reservation to stay at this particular hotel. Thank you to all the staff for making my 3 night stay so enjoyable Regards Paul

Began with a very warm welcome to this lovely hotel with a great atmosphere and gorgeous views. We were in Room 5 with a double aspect view. Very clean and nicely decorated. 5 minutes walk in to town. Perfect location with its own car par, free to customers. Breakfast was absolutely amazing, I had the full vegetarian. They have a cute little honesty bar where you can have a glass of wine or whatever in their lounge with a view! I highly recommend this hotel and will return. Thanks team Highfield.

This is a great hotel and we have already booked to go back next year. You can book the room you want and we booked a lovely room with a balcony. Building is old with high ceilings and large tall windows. View from the balcony is stunning. Hotel is clean, staff very friendly. Free coffee and cake between 3 and 5pm. Breakfast was really nice and plentiful. From now on, when we come to Keswick we will always come back to this hotel. Free parking round the back is a massive bonus also.
