Burns Farm lies in the beautiful Valley St-Johns-in-the-Vale. A idyllic part of the Lake District. You just need walk off the site in any direction and it won't be long before a hill comes under foot. From some of the highest ground in England, to the loveliest walk on a disused railway line by the River Greta, this is one of the greatest places on the planet to take your boots.Stunning scenery from the edges of the site wherever you cast your amazed gaze, situated on a traditional north Cumbria working hill farm, set in the heart of the mountains, it is a great base for walking or climbing the surrounding peaks of Blencathra, Skiddaw, Latrigg, Scafell Pike, Scafell, Catbells, Helvellyn, and Helvellyn range including Clough Head, to name a few. Just 4 miles to the nearest Lake of Derwentwater or Bassenthwaite, offering fishing and sailing.

The campsite is nicely situated for views and to explore the surrounding area of Keswick. However there seems to be little organisation and control of groups/residents. We and fellow caravanners were kept awake with load music, fires and load chat. This was despite speaking with

Thank you for our feed back… I would like to take the opportunity to update you and future customers on the changes that have been made Burns Farm Caravan & Campsite and to confirm some of the site policies raised in this review… We have invested heavily into the caravan site this winter and we are very excited to say that all our grass caravan pitches are now FULLY serviced hardstanding pitches with amazing views of the surrounding fells… We allow fire pits on site, but do not allow open fires for safety reasons and also to preserve the lovely flat grass camping pitches… In the tent field we allow cars to park next to tents except when it is wet then cars park on a hardstanding area of the field to preserve the grass and keep tent pitches clean… We have a “no loud noise” policy between the hours of 11pm and 7am…we do not tolerate disturbance or bad behaviour on site…groups forming on the site without permission will be asked to leave regardless of the threat of a “bad review”… Burns Farm is situated in a beautiful location where wonderful memories are made…we will re-open March 29 2019 and we will look forward to seeing our regular customers and meeting new ones this coming season :)

This is an excellent campsite for exploring the surrounding area within the North Lakes. 5 mins from Keswick by car and around a 45 min walk. Campsite was spacious with plenty of room between tents. Linda the owner is excellent and very accommodating. Marked down 1 star as

We parked our touring caravan on Burns farm for many years until we sold it three years ago. We were always made welcome and enjoyed the quiet beauty of the surrounding area often witnessing the ,sheep shearing done by New Zealand or Australian shearers. Since we stopped going,

Not sure about the tv reception, don't do tv whilst camping. WiFi is ok but have to pay for it. Lets face it,,camping should be technology free. Cut off the phones, enjoy yourselves
