Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Room was so comfortable for our one night get away. We loved it. Breakfast was also a lovely treat. We will be back soon. The bar manager lady was so lovely and she really knew her job. Fantastic service the tapas on the evening could have been hotter as most dishes were only just warm.

Booked the cottage belonging to the hotel at No 7. Arrived Friday afternoon, accommodation ready early and allowed to check in early, which was easy to do, staff friendly and helpful. Car parking at the rear of the building grateful bonus as it was a very busy weekend. Accommodation is small and compact but suitable for our needs, stairs very steep not suitable for some people. If you are over 6 foot tall, be careful with banging your head as I did twice. Property could do with being modernised, recommend new front door required, location is great. If you don't want to stay in the hotel this ideal for you. First time stayed and would recommend it to anyone and will stay again.

Hotel in great Central position. Staff great. Rooms OK and being updated. A lot of contractors on site moving equipmentand materials by our car. Our car got damaged in the hotel car park, however staff and manager could not find evidence on CCTV. They basically said nothing we can do. A discounted break cost us £300 to sort ourselves on top of hotel bill. Will stick to local cottage rentals in the future. Not happy.

We went here each evening for cocktails which are excellent value but hit & miss as to the content and availability! We had lunch on one day, which was plentiful and delicious. We will always return here but would encourage some training for staff. But the staff are great and very friendly.

Had a 2 night stay. Can not fault the hotel. All staff really helpful and friendly. Special mention for the girls working the bar and restaurant. Food we had each evening was superb and decent choice of beer and wines. Great breakfast choices as well. Super large room spotlessly clean. Car park directly behind hotel and £5 per 24hrs so very good value. Will return soon.

I have been almost annually for 50 years, until my wife sadly passed away a year ago. This time I went with my son and his family, one of whom requires dairy-free and gluten-free diet. Rooms were perfect for our needs. Great care was taken with the food and . the service was excellent. Good quality food. Lovely ambience. Friendly staff/ Excellent location in the middle of Keswick. The special arrangement for parking were very welcome= pay via the hotel for only £5 per night.

Nice hotel in the middle of Keswick. Arrived early and looked after well by Dan on reception, he was very helpful and told us our room was ready early. Room clean and tidy but a little dated and needing a couple of touch ups in the bathroom. Breakfast fine with plenty of choice. would stay again.

This is the first time (and certainly not the last) we have stayed at this lovely hotel. We have previously stayed the last 10 years for a New Year residential package at another hotel. Things there have changed, so we thought it was time to choose somewhere new. After lots of research we picked Skiddaw Hotel due to its location and most of all the fun list of activities to do over our 3 day stay. We arrived and were greeted by Johnny on Reception who explained the details of our stay. Sam was also so helpful with our booking. We went to our room and were so pleased with the size of the room and that it had a super kingsize bed. We had a New Year booklet in our room which outlined all the activities and meal times along with the menus for each evening. The food was absolutely superb and all the staff were tremendous in making us feel so welcome. We loved it
