Went for a meal with my partner as the hotel has nice restaurant. The food was very nice and the staff were friendly and professional. However, the food is certainly overpriced. Bar prices are fair for a hotel. The prices of the food do not match the quality or portion size that you would expect.

Lovely hotel central location, modern comfy decor. We were given access to a nearby central car park a short walk away. Friendly helpful staff. Only disappointments were, the evening meal. We sat in the front bar (with our dog) well within the meal serving time only, tried to order but we were then told they were too busy & no longer serving food - prior notice would have been appreciated. Room toiletries - They just didn't match the room quality, I was looking forward to using something nice only to find eco / skin friendly products, fragrance free. Quite the let down. Biggest problem was the room temperature - unbelievably warm. We turned the heating off straight away, opened windows so there was no need to contact reception nothing else could be done, a room change wouldn't have been possible they were too busy. It was just too little too late, I think the heating must have been on high all day which just left it uncomfortable even when we turned it off.

Dear joanneq970 Thank you for the feedback. I was sorry to hear you had some issues during your stay. I will follow up with the team in the bar in regards to the food service. Sorry to hear the room was a little warm; housekeeping should have turned down prior to arrival, dependent on weather conditions. I will share you feedback and improve where we can# Thank you Iain

Very dog friendly. Great breakfast. Nice bar, bit noisy for us on Saturday night but it's easy to find a quieter pub. Had a lovely meal in the bar. Good friendly service. Very clean lovely rooms. We had one at the back, it was larger and newly fitted out. Quiet in tbe rooms. If you've got a dog that will stay in room happily then you can leave dog in the room, and there's a tag to put on room to say dog in there while you nip to shops or whatever. Great dog walks straight from hotel. We booked car park underneath as it was raining

Stayed 2 nights here last October and we were well looked after. Smooth check in, slightly early and knowing our way around Keswick, parked 5/ 10 minutes away in a direction opposite the hotel. You can park on the road for free, it's beyond the big car park. Herdwick room, perfect. Super meal in the Brossen steakhouse on the first night. Excellent bar area but open to the public and was very busy during our stay. Great breakfast, fish option available. Would definitely stay again with the right deal.

We were looking forward to a trip to Keswick and the name suggests that we may experience a pub in the town centre. The location is brilliant albeit parking was a real pain, both car parks they suggest are only a five minute walk but the spaces in one of them were so tight. On arrival, check in was quick but a total contrast to the Chester Grosvenor the week before. The staff were fine but not overly friendly. The general hotel feels very corporate and we didn’t like the style at all. It’s not what you have in mind when you visit the lakes. It was neither classy modern nor traditional with any features. A shame because it looks like it was all done from scratch. Our room was situated at the front of the hotel and it was surprisingly quiet considering. It was nice to have a view of the square. We didn’t like the decor and it felt like any other hotel room but with the disadvantage of a tiny bathroom. The choice of drinks were good but the champagne flutes were cheap and quite thick, a glass does make a difference to your enjoyment of a drink. The wine glasses were also pretty standard and not what you’d expect in a modern mid range hotel. The food menu was fine although tailored to meat, i think it was decent enough value. My biggest issue was the waiter who imposed on our meal with silly banter which made us feel uncomfortable. We just wanted to enjoy our night in the lakes and have someone take our order, not embarrass us and act foolish.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback following your stay at Inn on the Square, all guest feedback is considered of the utmost importance as we strive to deliver excellent stays for all our guests. It is disappointing to see that you were underwhelmed with your experience on this occasion. The hotel underwent significant refurbishment a few years ago and the feedback we receive regarding the modern and light decor is consistently high praise, though we fully understand that tastes differ and this has clearly been the case for yourselves. It is pleasing to see that you liked the view from your Town room, however. We are lucky to present the only steakhouse in Keswick, meaning that the menu is geared towards meat, however our Head Chef has been careful to include a range of pasta, vegetarian and vegan dishes so that all our hotel guests are catered to. It is disappointing to see that you felt the service was somewhat intrusive, please be assured that this would certainly not be the intention of your server. Thank you again for your feedback, please be assured that your comments have been taken on board. Kind regards, Ian and the team

We visited The Inn on the Square with friends for a couple of nights this week. It was our 4th stay there and we had a lovely time. The hotel is in the centre of Keswick so conveniently located. We chose to pre book the car parking which is underneath the hotel and feel it’s well worth it for the convenience. The rooms are a good size, comfortable and clean and the bathroom has a large shower. The staff were friendly and helpful. We have 2 dogs with us in our group and they were certainly welcomed here, even getting a sausage at breakfast! Dogs are allowed in the Front bar and also the Back Bar (pub) and an area close to the reception for meals. We had booked a dinner, bed and breakfast rate and ate at the hotel both nights we stayed. The breakfast was plentiful with a choice of hot food and the usual cereals, pastries and juices. Good choices and very tasty. The DBB rate included a £38 allowance for the a la carte menu or we could eat from the table d’hote menu. We felt the choice on the inclusive menu wasn’t as good as previous years and some of the group felt the quality was also inferior. However, the steak and the veggie Shepherds pie were delicious. We paid extra for chunky chips to come with the steak and they were super tasty but we felt they should have been included. All in all a lovely stay and I’m sure we will come back again next year.

As a non-guest we sat in the front bar, the atmosphere was calm and peaceful. A wonderful way to start our honeymoon. The young gentleman who attended to us was friendly and attentive. Could not fault the food at all, I had the full English and my other half had the Eggs Benedict. Fantastic food, fantastic service. Hope to return again.

Considering the price I was expecting more. The room was very small and not the cleanest, there was dust on the lamps and the radiator, splashes on the skirting boards, between the desk and wall clearly hadn’t been hoovered and there were hairs in the bathroom. I went to use one of the complementary robes after my shower to find that had makeup on the sleeve so hadn’t been washed. The first day breakfast wasn’t up to much the second day was a little better but again for the price I was expecting more. I’ve had a better breakfast at a weather spoons! When we arrived there was nobody on reception so had to wait then when we wanted serving at the bar again we had to go looking for a member of staff. I understand it’s out of season but if you’re open for business it should be staffed accordingly. All in all we were disappointed with the stay.
