Attention to detail makes all the difference when staying at Bed and Breakfasts round the country. It makes the difference between somewhere to sleep, and a really enjoyable experience. The Cartwheel is an exceptionally enjoyable experience. The bed was very comfortable, and plenty warm enough, with extra blankets in the wardrobe if needed (and this is the Lake district!). The...

In critical need of an escape to my beloved Lakes, I booked this on the Monday morning and stayed until Friday. Tina and Bernie were fantastic hosts throughout and I couldnt have asked for a more warm and genuine welcome. A well presented guest house within a couple of minutes walk of the town centre. Plenty of street parking right...

You cannot go wrong booking The Cartwheel - the owners are friendly, the B&B is spotlessly clean, breakfast with fresh fruit and full choice of cooked food is gorgeous.......and it's very reasonably priced.

Just returned from our 3rd stay at The Cartwheel and planning our 4th - The Cartwheel is faultless! Tina and Bernie welcomed us back like old friends. A second stay in our favourite room 1 (with a view of Skiddaw) and it's still as pretty and spotlessly clean. Bernie's breakfasts would set anyone up for a day on the fells...

Lovely B&B in a beautiful location. Five-minute walk EVERYWHERE. Tina and Bernie were the BEST hosts ever... gave lots of travel tips/advice, provided yummy treats in the evening upon our return, even sent us off with a hot flask of tea one morning that we ended up being truly grateful for as the weather turned cold and drizzly... Hope to...

We stayed at the Cartwheel for Easter in April 2012. Tina & Bernie were fantastic hosts. The breakfast was just what you needed to prepare for a day on the hills, with a wide variety of choice and huge portions! The atmosphere was very friendly and cosy. Tina & Bernie also helped us to chose our walks in a morning....

My partner says I am fussy, and quite rightly so! Having never stayed in the Lake District before, I did lots of research on the internet and trawled through the endless pages of hotels and B + B's - so if you are anything like me, I can save you the job this time as I personally don't think you...

Bernie and I would like to thank you for taking the time to write this review. Your very kind comments are greatly appreciated, especially in the light of our situation with my health at the weekend.
