We have just spent two nights in The Kings Arms and absolutely loved it. We were in Room 6 which overlooked the square but two lots of glazing meant we didn’t hear any noise, the windows could be opened if we wanted though. The pub had a nice cosy feel to it and Covid guidelines were well adhered to, with hand sanitizer readily available and people were seated so they were not too close to others. Room 6 was a good sized room with a large modern bathroom though the curved stairway up to it was a bit narrow, anyone with mobility problems might struggle to get a suitcase up there. We didn’t eat here in the evenings but the breakfasts were lovely, couldn’t fault the food at all and plenty of choice. Car parking is at the rear for a small charge for guests, only a couple of pounds, and nice big beer garden at the rear. Will definitely return and have no problems recommending it to anyone looking for accommodation in the centre of Keswick, very good value for money

Stayed for one night with our dog.
Room was small but clean comfy and cozy.Bed was large and very comfy ,good size TV and and in room extras such as tea coffee, hair drier ,towels and robes.
Bathroom was small and could do with a little updating ,mould round shower seals ect...
Staff very polite and helpful, very dog friendly .
Good breakfast choice ,we went for scrambled eggs and salmon and a bacon sandwich .Waitress ,who was lovely, brought two bacon sandwiches ,lovely fresh bread but only two slices of bacon in each one so out all bacon into one sandwich which was fine.Scrambked eggs were not good..watery ,stringy and way over salted, plenty of smoked salmon but it could have been a little fresher.
Overall we enjoyed our stay and we will return

Good morning GlobeTrotting, Thank you very much for taking the time to review your stay with us, and I am delighted that you enjoyed the vast majority of your stay - we do agree that our rooms are very nice and cosy! With regards to the bathroom, we do constantly carry out maintenance on all of our rooms, and the shower issue is something that I will pass on to our maintenance team. I am sorry that you were disappointed with your breakfast, we do normally get a lot of compliments, but I will pass your feedback on to the kitchen to ensure that next time you stay, it is much better for you, We look forward to seeing you again in the future, Kind regards, Dan

Only stopped for a drink and lunch outside but staff/gentleman ensured the table and chairs were sanitised after each use. Great guy, very funny and friendly and an asset to the hotel. Food was good and we ended up spending the full afternoon having a few drinks and people watching. Definitely recommend and we will be back xx

Checked in sunday the 9th , room 4 very nice , had a beer and went for a wander. Weather awful so ate in the hotel, I had the steak pie while my wife had the vegetarian which was lovely. Slept well then all went off a cliff. We got to breakfast at 8 to be told the chef wasn't in, we got tea and toast at 8.10 .the chef wandered in at 8.20 and our meal turned up at 8.40 by which time the tea and toast were freezing. My wifes vegetarian sausage had obviously been done in a microwave and couldn't be cut with a hacksaw. The mushrooms spinach and tomato were freezing. Mine was just a disaster and at a price of over €14 each it was chaos. Great shame ad lovely location nice staff but would not stay there again .

I was disappointed with the bedroom. I was in room 9 . I was sharing a twin room with a walking colleague. The room was small with a tiny window at one end. Over two nights it became really hot so much that we had to use a fan which was in the cupboard. It was difficult to sleep ... there was no air. The window in the bathroom was sealed . Goodness knows how one could cope in the height of summer. I assume that’s why there was a fan. The shower was an electric one with very little pressure when on higher temperature . Really disappointing. The hotel sells itself as upmarket and it is not cheap 162 pounds per night. Room 9 feels like an afterthought as some of my colleagues had nicer rooms. Also the stairs from the first floor to the second floor will clearly be very difficult to manage for someone with a physical disability . Also be warned it is noisy as right on the square and the hotel leave ear plugs in the bathroom. On the plus side breakfast is very good and the breakfast staff very accommodating pleasant and helpful ..the hotel is also very conveniently situated in the pedestrian area

Hello, Thank you for leaving a review on the Kings Arms. I am sorry that your room did not live up to your expectations. When it is hot weather some of the rooms do get a little hot which is why we provide the fans in the bedrooms. We are a Town Centre pub with rooms so we do expect some noise from outside. The stairs up to our top floor are a little steep, but due to us being a 17th century listed building we cannot change those. Help is always available for people on the top floor if needed. Thank you for your kind words regarding Breakfast and my Breakfast team. Hopefully you will visit again and try one of our other rooms next time. Regards, Stuart General Manager

Looked at a few different places and decided on this one as it was more central ( this being our first time to the lakes)
We booked direct with the hotel and on arrival were directed to the car park which is only a very short walk. As soon as we walked in we were impressed immediately. The bar area was so welcoming and you were made to feel at home straight away. We were directed to our room which although being on the front of the hotel and above the bar was very quiet. The room was a good size and the recently refurbished bathroom also. We opted for bed breakfast and evening meal. The selection of food for the evening meal could be made from the restaurant menu. The quality and quantity were first class as was the service from all the staff. Breakfast was again a choice from the menu and again most enjoyable. We decided to try the pizza restaurant which is part of the hotel and were very impressed with this also. All in all a very enjoyable break in a very friendly hotel that was over far to quickly. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel as it is one of the best I have stayed in, and we definitely be returning. Compliments to all the staff on a thoroughly enjoyable stay 😁

We have just spent Christmas at the kings arms, and what a great time we have had. Stuart the manager and every member of staff are exceptional they are a credit to themselves and the company who should be very very proud to have such a special group of staff under the same roof. We have stayed on a 3 day Christmas package which has been excellent, every meal excellently served and delicious. On arrival the room was well presented very comfortable with fresh fruit and the programme for the 3 days. When we returned to the room after breakfast on Christmas Day, the maid had been in and left gifts on the dressing table a really lovely touch. What guests must remember is that the kings arms is an old coaching house, known today as a bar, restaurant with rooms, very nice and comfortable rooms, however it Is NOT a “full blown” hotel, and does not have the facilities expected within an hotel. There are no residents lounges other than a very small room on the 1st floor, you have to use the bar area which is open to the public, and very popular with walkers and their dogs. Finding a comfortable seat in the bar is not easy because of its popularity. If you go knowing of the limitations of the building you will not be disappointed. Thank you to Stuart and the team for taking excellent care of us this Christmas . Paul & Kevin.

Stayed 2 nights midweek in February. Room was clean & comfortable at front of hotel. Reception staff professional & friendly, other staff not so friendly, breakfast order was taken on first morning but waited 45 mins for it to arrive as waitress hadn't put our order in to chef ( restaurant wasn't busy, only 4 tables occupied.) Second morning was as confusing for other guests. Food was good & fresh. The noise from the bar & street till after 1am was really loud, obviously something that happens every night as the rooms were supplied with earplugs!! If this is midweek in winter how loud will it be at weekend in summer!!! Room had secondary glazing that made no difference to noise at all. Wouldn't stay in centre of Keswick again.

The chance to go abroad this year due to COVID restrictions we decided to have a little tour around Britain
One of our choices was a midweek two night break in Keswick which everyone knows for its beauty and various walks, lakes etc.
We were here purely to relax and couldn’t have chosen a better hotel.
Parking was in the central car park behind the hotel and if you inform them of your registration number they will digitally pay your fee which they later retrieve from you (£4 a day).
The hotel itself is bang in the middle of Keswick and all its amenities. Checking inn was quick and easy and COVID friendly though it is easier if you have the Nhs app on your phone.
Our room was on the 2 JD floor and whilst the stairs were steep in places no problem.
The room was spacious very spacious with good facilities and lovely sheer in a good sized bathroom.
The bar choice is large with Covid restricted table service but this wasn’t a problem with plenty of friendly staff, one thing to note is that card payments we only accepted.
We are both breakfast and evening meals in the hotel and both were excellent, with good choices on both menus.
The hotel offers everything required for an enjoyable stress free break and the professionalism and friendliness of the staff topped off a great visit

Where to start …All the staff were amazing nothing was to much trouble .Manager JP was exceptional Christmas Day he did not stop he was barman waiter host so many hats he wore that day to make sure everyone had a wonderful Christmas day and we did.
What ever you asked him he did his best to make sure you had it I know he hasn’t been there that long and it was his first Christmas we would certainly go back and have told many people what a wonderful place this was the pub was decorated like a winter wonderland it made you feel so Christmassy everyone was so friendly and chatted it made such a difference .
The food was superb the chef was amazing everything from breakfast lunch and dinner was cooked to perfection .
The bedrooms were lovely and clean the linen was lovely we had a room where you could take a dog in but we could not find a dog here anyway it was spotless when we arrived we had a lovely bottle of Prosecco we had a tin of lovely shortbread the dog had his own Selection box left in the room there was a lovely dog bed and bowls.
I would not hesitate in recommending the Kings Arms at any time of year but Christmas is very special and we hope to go back I would like to once again thank all the staff for everything they did to make her stay so special and JP keep doing what you’re doing you’re brilliant best wishes Sue and Richard Smith
