Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Sunday beef dinner was discussing Beef under cooked but like rubber at the same time. Yorkshire puddings where burnt. As for the cheese dish that came with it which looked like yellow butter a d cheese over some limp veg. Would not recommend this Sunday lunch.

Excellent customer service from the guy serving on Thursday afternoon, very helpful with knowledge of the two walks we were to tackle on our stay at the lakes. Food was delicious my husband and son enjoyed the Cumberland & mash. The children's desserts went down a treat. Lovely pub, very welcoming. We headed up to find Thirlmere infinity pools which is just behind the pub, fantastic views and great waterfall.

The friendliest team headed by Peter who could not have done more for us with Ionut, even carrying our cases to our room The room was very cosy with comfortable beds and pillows. The bathroom was well appointed All the food is cooked to order so is piping hot and to a good standard, but that means you can wait a while. In our case, we were there for a well earned rest so it was absolutely fine. The weather did not play its part at all, but the Inn is in a beautiful setting with views all around it to die for. Easy to find and half way between Grasmere and Keswick both lovely places to while away time and obviously a walkers’ delight. I would definitely recommend staying here and Ionut, you were a delight to meet. Not often I get the back of my hand kissed and a hug after a hotel stay

Stayed in a family room with our grandchildren and couldn’t have asked for more. Our stay was perfect - the room was comfortable and cozy and the staff were so friendly and helpful. As always Peter and the staff really looked after us. Peter even closed the curtains, put the lamps on and turned the heater up so everything was cozy and welcoming for us after a stressful journey and a later than planned arrival, which we appreciated, especially when we had 2 very tired four year olds with us. Breakfast was delicious on all 3 days. We’ll be back !

Called in for food on our way home from a day of walking. We both ordered the famous pie. It takes a little longer to arrive as it's made fresh in house and it was delicious but not £18.50 delicious. But we were hungry at this point. The portions of mash, veg and gravy jug that accompanied the pie was so disappointingly small. So we ordered some extra chunky chips. Again a small portion and a large price at £5. We were offered the dessert menu and went for the sticky toffee pudding. This was the worst part. Small (again), dry, tasteless, not sticky at all, a tiny amount of toffee sauce and a small jug of custard. A terrible offering for a pub like the Kings Head with such good reviews. We left very disappointed. Staff were fine and beer was great. A good selection of local ales and the usual beers.

We have had a wonderful 2 night stay at the Kings Head hotel. Our room was so comfortable with everything you could possibly need. We ate at the hotel both evenings and the service and food were both exemplary. I would like to also add that each and every member of staff we met were helpful, kind and so professional! We will definitely be back!

We visited as a family of 3 generations, walked together then waited (with dog) for Grandsons (who were climbing Helvelyn) in pub. Throughout our visit, the service was brilliant; just really thoughtful and proactive. We decided stay to eat and again, everything was set up really quickly with excellent service. Beer was great and food was wonderful: fresh, tasty and excellent value. Wonderful end to day.. Thank you team!
