A great place to have a drink and eat after a long day walking. Staff were very friendly and didn’t mind muddy boots or muddy dogs, even dog biscuits on the bar! Sunday lunch is a must. Highly recommendable
I remember the time when you didn't allow someone's offsprings and mutts into a pub even though up in Cumbria they seem to lack the knowledge that a pub is an adult place and not some pit where dogs and children can bark and squeal....More
Arrived on Saturday to be given a table for two straight away even though it was busy so we were very lucky as lots of people who arrived after us were turned away as it was so busy. Felt very relaxed and comfortable in such...More
With a group of friends, good choice of dishes including some vegetarian. Obviously pretty popular (Saturday night in November). Helpful staff, quick service even though they were busy - and we were quite a big group (9)

Hi Stacy. Being located in the centre of the town means we don't have our own parking facilities. However there are car parks within minutes of our inn with free overnight parking. If you enter Keswick via the A66 (from Penrith) or the A591 (from Kendal). Follow Penrith Road towards the town up a small hill towards a crossroads. Continue over a pedestrian crossing and take the second turning on the right. You will see Otley Road car park on your right. You can park for free from 7pm to 8:30am (overnight) and a 24hour pass costs £5. It’s just a 3 minute walk to The Royal Oak at Keswick from here.
