Attractive Victorian residence in a quiet area within easy walking distance of Keswick town centre, theatre and the lake. Our six en-suite guest rooms are spacious and comfortably furnished. Breakfasts are freshly cooked to order using locally sourced ingredients and include traditional English with vegetarian options, or choose from several lighter options. The Portland House Bed and Breakfast is located in an ideal spot for exploring Keswick. 5 minutes walk to the centre and an ideal base for walking. The B&B is very well catered for. We had the room on the top floor and Colin, the host, lugged our suitcase to the top for us. The room was warm, welcoming and the bed was comfy. Plenty of tea and coffee available plus home made cakes! Breakfast is fresh and made as per your instructions with the option of an amazing fruit salad starter. Now onto Colin. The host with the most. He was able to help us out with so much from a great knowledge of the area, restaurant, bars and telling us about the market (which is amazing and busy when we went so get there early). He sat in with us on the second morning for breakfast having a lovely chat about golf - to my husband. I have to say Colin coped amazingly as the B&B was full and his wife was away that weekend! You wouldn't know he was by himself - he didn't tell us al all :-) Would definitely recommend for a lovely, warm, welcoming B&B. We will be going back early next year as Keswick has so much to offer and I need an excuse to go to Tebay Services again!…

We are from Fort Worth, TX and were doing the Lake District hike. Portland House B&B was one of our stops and we are so glad. Great accommodations and Colin and Sarah, owners, were lovely to visit with. They gave us wonderful recommendations for dinner options and told us about getting around Keswick. The breakfasts were excellent and presented beautifully.

We had a fantastic cosy long weekend here. The welcome and hospitality was superb. Colin couldn’t do enough for us and he was a friendly helpful host. His breakfasts were superb especially the fresh fruit salad with over 14 different elements. The room was immaculate as was the bathroom. The location was great too, just a short stroll to the shops and bars and lake. We had a wonderful relaxing break and would definitely recommend this B+B.

Amazing! Absolutely loved this Bed & Breakfast, definitely the best I have ever stayed in. Pre-arrival communication was great, all questions answered very quickly. We were warmly welcomed by Colin who was very friendly and gave us a lovely introduction to the house and it's facilities (which were excellent by the way). He was brilliant throughout the whole stay and definitely genuinely cared about his guests. Our room was gorgeous, very spacious but with a cosy feel so we felt at home straight away. We were in room 4 which had a lovely window with 2 seats in which was great to sit and relax in with a cup of tea in the morning. Lovely touch of having fresh baked cakes and biscuits for guests available all day. Last but not least - the breakfast was exceptional, we were so full we didn't need to eat again until dinner on both days - I can definitely recommend the fruit salad! I'd highly recommend the Portland House Bed & Breakfast, we loved every minute of our stay there.…

We had such a lovely weekend stay at Portland house. The staff were so friendly and accommodating & really looked after hs. Our room was very spacious, beautiful, very clean and had everything we need. The breakfast room was also very pretty and Colin was the best host. We would definitely stay here again in the future! We had a fantastic stay at Portland House. Such welcoming, friendly hosts, lovely big room and en-suite bathroom decorated to a high standard. Bed was so comfortable and the food was delicious. Would highly recommend and looking forward to coming back and staying here again.

Another great stay at Portland House. The location is perfect (just a short walk into Keswick town centre), the room was spotless and comfortable and the breakfast was excellent. Colin, Sarah and, of course, Lacey really do go the extra mile to ensure everything is spot on.

Lovely B&B in a great location. The room was really comfortable with everything we needed. The breakfast was amazing! Really nice little additions such as the coffee machine and baked snacks. Sarah and Colin were so friendly and made us feel really welcome. We will definitely be back!
