we arrived in the rain, worked out that the carpark was behind the property on an adjacent road. the front bar area was busy with people and a lovely member of staff checked us in and showed us to our room.

The room was classy, with a boutique feel was clean and warm and welcoming on a autumnal afternoon. everywhere in this place was spotless, the bathroom was big, it was clean and altogether nice.

The room was nicely lit with table lamps and the decor was modern colours, we decided to get some dinner downstairs in the bar/restaurant. We were seated by another member of staff who again was lovely. this was early evening (17.30)and the bar was buzzing between evening and afternoon customers.

We looked at the menu and there was loads of great choices, my wife and i decided to go for something different rather than our first choices of stuff we have had before. I went for a beef raclette and my wife had the nasi goreng.

The food arrived in good time and we were both happy with our choices, the bar was starting to fill as the evening went on. this place was buzzing and had a real nice vibe. they had a great choice of drinks and some great cocktails and Gins.

We decided to have another drink and a dessert. both of them were served in a plant pot style dish! There was a good portion in both desserts and like everything we had was top class.

We retired for the night and no noise was heard from the bar, had a great nights sleep and the shower was good the bathroom was warm and so was the bedroom. The breakfast was served in another room (not the bar). The girl that served us was great, we had a lovely breakfast.

There is a guy that works there, he is a character and you can see how he adds to the feel of this place and how the girls there enjoy his humour. That tells me that he enjoys his job and he gets a buzz from being there.

We checked out and settled the bill, i asked the staff member if it was ok for us to leave our car there for an hour while we took a walk around Penrith. they were happy to oblige. The hotel/bar is in a lovely old building that is like the tardis, it looks like its well received by the locals aswell as passing trade.

I would definitely look to stay here again, it has everything and more. its very well priced and located nicely near the M6. We did this stay as part of a Scottish road trip so good parking and easily located was the criteria we needed. this place more than delivered!

Thanks to everyone at the Lounge hotel & bar for making our stay a good one!

I originally visited this place for lunch only:

We visited the restaurant on a Monday afternoon.

Was very pleasant with well placed outdoor seating with rain cover. The staff were helpful and friendly.

There was plenty to choose from on the menu.

Then the end of July 2021 stayed here for a couple of nights.

The hotel entrance is the same as the restaurant entrance that I wasn't keen on personally, you check in to the same reception and the entrance to the rooms is directly behind this.

I wasn't aware of how far we would have to walk 1 set of stairs & 4 corridors, I wish I had checked this prior as my back suffered for this with luggage etc. So if you have mobility issues definitely remember to mention when booking.

The staff were all attentive & helpful.

The breakfast was really lovely, with a menu to choose from but they were accommodating to my request to change items etc.

The room was neat and tidy with a nespresso coffee machine & 4 pods provided, kettle with coffee, tea, decaff & sugar but no sweetner so if you use this I would suggest bringing your own.

They also had a small cupboard with a few drawers, one with hairdryer and space for several hanging clothes. One drawer has hair dryer.

The bed was comfy, but the tog was rather high for the temperature, this is a personal preference and I'm sure they would have accommodated a lower tog if requested.

There was a fan in room, however it was a little dusty so I had to wipe clean myself as my partner as Asthma and this would cause a flare up, a shame it was overlooked as the room and bathroom were both of a high standard.

They have hand soap and shower body wash available but I wasn't keen on the scent, very floral & strong.

The shower was a walk in one with both normal and raindrop shower head with a good pressure that I love.

The TV was a smart TV so you can log into your accounts like netflix, prime and so on.

There were bedside lights and a mian light all can be turned on & off from either side of the bed. There were some USB plugs sockets and many sockets available. The tea & coffee station was on a stable with a chair.

It was a small but smart room.

I broke my tradition of staying at chain hotels as the one along the road was wanting silly money whereas this offering in the town centre was offering a better price AND included breakfast. A nice touch at check-in is the member of staff takes you upstairs (there is no lift) to show you where your room is and waits to make sure the keycard works before leaving you to settle in. I'd a quiet compact double room to the side of the property and slept well both nights under a warm duvet, although the pillows were a bit flat. There was no room for a wardrobe so hanging pegs were provided on the outside of the bathroom door, albeit minus coat hangers. The hospitality tray was well stocked and the biscuits were replenished after my 1st night, but the dirty cup wasn't replaced. The bathroom was very spacious with a generous sized shower cubicle and being an internal room was very cosy. Only niggle was the the soap dispenser bottles - nice smelling soap but 1 sent soap flying in all directions when plunged while the other refused to dispense almost anything. The ground floor bar area is a chilly in the mornings at breakfast but there cold buffet elements were of good quality and the hot cooked to order food excellent and lots of options to chose from. A bus stop right outside the hotel is where the bus to Ullswater picks up, saves walking to the bus station. The railway station is around a 7 minute walk, with a steep uphill climb on the way for the train home!

We booked this hotel the night before we came away on 11.08.20, looking at the pictures posted does not do this lovely hotel the justice it deserves. Easy checked in with good service, room was modern and updated with a massive bathroom, was really warm but that was due to the hot weather, We ate at the restaurant and the food was lovely with great service. The bar was always welcoming at any time of the day with nice cool Air Con, The social distancing was truly respected too. Breakfast room was staffed by wonderful staff who could not do more to help if they tried and again the food was hot fresh and lovely. Overall a truly wonderful 3 day stay which i would recommend, in fact i did and friends booked on the Thursday to join us over night.

This was our second stay at this hotel. What an awesome place we love it. The rooms are immaculate the staff can’t do enough for and the breakfast was top drawer with plenty of choice they even cooked something for me that wasn’t on the menu. We had evening meal too which was gorgeous. And the cocktail bar has a lovely atmosphere with plenty of choices for drinks and cocktails. Although I would recommend booking a table in the bar as it does tend to get busy. But apart from that we can’t fault this little gem.

This hotel is in the center of Penrith and it has a private car park at the back, albeit 100 yards from the entrance down a long bumpy lane which is not so convenient with cases. You could risk the double yellow lines on he main road to unload/load luggage. We had some help to get the luggage up a steep spiral staircase then we have the labyrinth of passages and fire doors to reach the room. When we finally made it, the room was spacious, modernized, comfortable and well equipped. They have modern electronic cards for the room and hotel entrance at a side door. We slept well and had a decent breakfast, but this hotel is better suited to younger fitter clients travelling light.

My partner and I stayed here for 3 nights for his birthday. I had originally booked the double room however upon arrival was told we had been upgraded to a superior king room which was a bonus!

The room was absolutely fantastic and very big. The bathroom was very spacious and modern with a separate shower and bath. The room also provided tea and coffee making facilities and there was also a coffee machine. We both said that we’ve never stayed in such a clean and immaculate hotel room in all the places we’ve been and the cleanliness of the bathroom was 10/10. Overall we couldn’t fault the room at all.

Breakfast was included and could choose anything from the breakfast menu which I didn’t expect! We had smoked salmon and eggs, Cumbrian breakfast and the banoffe waffle. They all tasted amazing and couldn’t fault anything.

We also had our evening meal there on the second night and again couldn’t fault anything. There were lots of options to choose from and also lots of cocktails/ drinks. We enjoyed our meals that much we had our meal there again on the last night. Compliments to the chefs.

All the workers there were very friendly and accommodating and wound highly recommended staying/eating here. Will definitely be coming back sometime in the future.

Thank you for a lovely stay.

We stayed here twice on a stopover to and from Scotland and Wales… Wow what a lovely hotel… stayed in the same room both visits… spotless, comfortable bed, lovely en-suite shower room… Tea and coffee facilities with a complimentary pack of biscuits…
We had a meal both nights… ordered the same food as it was so delicious off the street food menu…
Breakfast was amazing… choice of cereals, yogurt, fruit and juices… you can order coffee and teas… and what a choice from the cooked breakfast menu… AMAZING… we had the guiness rarebit one morning absolutely delicious… then the other morning I just asked for scrambled eggs with toast(minus smoked salmon) and also the mixed berry waffles with yogurt. I highly recommend this hotel/bar.
Both visits the bar and tables for evening meals was busy it was lovely to see on a Thursday night and Friday… the STAFF are wonderful too.

We had a Good value meal and tasty meal here. The small plates and platters are slightly different and quite imaginative. Portion sizes are good. We were well looked after by the staff. Would go back again. The atmosphere is good, very friendly.

Stayed there one night last week, we had booked in advance via booking .com. We had flown into Manchester at 5am and driven up to Penrith. The lounge has its own car park at the rear and you have to give your index to the Lounge so we parked up about 08:30 just to inform them, they said did we want to book in right away as they had just finished a bedroom it was superior to the one we had booked but they would charge the same rates. Brilliant service we even had breakfast before we went up to get some sleep after a long flight and a bit of a drive. The room was brilliant with a huge bed, soft mattress and really big powerful shower. We had dinner there that night which was great with lots of choice and very well coked and presented, the staff were fast, friendly and really efficient, seriously on the ball. We had breakfast next day which once again was great with local produce and the waffle omelet was delicious. The Lounge was a great experience and will stay again one of the best stays we’ve had at any Hotel
