We stopped here on our route back from Glasgow and were delighted with the choice. We entered the bar area to check in and there seemed to be a crowd of rowdy locals enjoying their evening already. I was therefore a bit concerned that things may be a bit noisy, but there was no sound at all. The room was large enough for the 3 of us and very clean. Breakfast the next day was a highlight as it was a generous portion and very tasty.
we arrived in the rain, worked out that the carpark was behind the property on an adjacent road. the front bar area was busy with people and a lovely member of staff checked us in and showed us to our room. The room was classy, with a boutique feel was clean and warm and welcoming on a autumnal afternoon. everywhere in this place was spotless, the bathroom was big, it was clean and altogether nice. The room was nicely lit with table lamps and the decor was modern colours, we decided to get some dinner downstairs in the bar/restaurant. We were seated by another member of staff who again was lovely. this was early evening (17.30)and the bar was buzzing between evening and afternoon customers. We looked at the menu and there was loads of great choices, my wife and i decided to go for something different rather than our first choices of stuff we have had before. I went for a beef raclette and my wife had the nasi goreng. The food arrived in good time and we were both happy with our choices, the bar was starting to fill as the evening went on. this place was buzzing and had a real nice vibe. they had a great choice of drinks and some great cocktails and Gins. We decided to have another drink and a dessert. both of them were served in a plant pot style dish! There was a good portion in both desserts and like everything we had was top class. We retired for the night and no noise was heard from the bar, had a great nights sleep and the shower was good the bathroom was warm and so was the bedroom. The breakfast was served in another room (not the bar). The girl that served us was great, we had a lovely breakfast. There is a guy that works there, he is a character and you can see how he adds to the feel of this place and how the girls there enjoy his humour. That tells me that he enjoys his job and he gets a buzz from being there. We checked out and settled the bill, i asked the staff member if it was ok for us to leave our car there for an hour while we took a walk around Penrith. they were happy to oblige. The hotel/bar is in a lovely old building that is like the tardis, it looks like its well received by the locals aswell as passing trade. I would definitely look to stay here again, it has everything and more. its very well priced and located nicely near the M6. We did this stay as part of a Scottish road trip so good parking and easily located was the criteria we needed. this place more than delivered! Thanks to everyone at the Lounge hotel & bar for making our stay a good one!…
Again as part of a UK tour booked in on the hoof. Very short notice. Top marks to the staff. Super helpful and friendly. Special mention for Evie. Good central location. Do contact the hotel as the car park post code is not the same as front door post. Oh Yes, free dedicated parking. Real bonus. Super room. Modern. Cosy. Warm. Comfortable. Super Wifi. Very handy for uploading the days pics to the cloud. I forgot, this is not just a hotel, but an open bar and restaurant. Decided to eat in and very nice. Very filling. Again bar staff very helpful and friendly. May have been an off day, but the breakfast experience let the side down a bit. The breakfast room was very comfortable with a modern decor. There was plenty of choice. But the hot breakfast wasn't. The beans were stone cold. I don't think they had ever been hot. This was rectified in due course. Then the smoke alarm went off three times. Burnt toast. Maybe just a bad day. Although that took the edge of the stay as a whole, I would not look to stay anywhere else. Simple things but the coffee and biscuits in the room were top quality.…
We stayed for one night en route to Scotland. The room was good, if a little tired in places. However, the breakfast was excellent: quality ingredients well cooked. All staff were efficient & friendly. I would stay here again, but I would request a room at the back as the road noise at the front was noticeable. All in all, I would recommend as it was good value.
