Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Lovely hotel been a couple of times also stayed in a big chain hotel but wouldn't use them again. We were in room 18 a big room with ensuite and also a bath in the room. Couldn't fault anything lovely and clean, comfortable and a lovely breakfast with quite a lot to choose from.

Me and my partner had the best couple of days here. The staff, the room, the food and the bar all amazing. The beds were like sleeping on a cloud. We had a bath in the bedroom, we found that a nice little touch. The service was fast and do not get me started on the cocktails..wow! Highly recommend a stay here.

The Lounge Hotel is situated in the centre of town with a car park accessible from the street at the back. NB that you need to register your car on arrival, but the young lady who checked us in asked for the details anyway. Our room (no 9) is described by Booking.com as a De Luxe Double, but I’m not really sure what that means, as it is a pretty ordinary room with plain walls (not a single picture) minimal furniture and a skylight as the only window. It is clean and comfortable however and the en-suite is roomy and nicely done, apart from having an over the bath shower. Downstairs there is a smart and clearly popular bar, although as I am more a “local pub” sort of bloke we didn’t try it. Breakfast in the Lounge (I do find this a strange name for a hotel) was excellent. Karen had scrambled eggs with rather too much smoked salmon, while I had a Full Cumbrian which had top quality ingredients and was all perfectly cooked. It was also rather substantial and if we were staying longer I’d pick and mix. There is no doubt that the Lounge is a smart bar cum hotel that aims for the higher end of the market, and while I think they could do more with the room we were in, all the bedding, towels etc are of high quality and it certainly represents very good value. Service was friendly and efficient throughout, and the gentleman who was cleaning the rooms even offered to carry our bags to the car park. We declined - but what a lovely offer. We would happily use this hotel again, but I would probably research options for a bigger and better room.

We stayed on a Saturday night. The room was a decent size but with only a tiny velux window. The bed was large and comfy. The tv was not facing the bed so watching it was uncomfortable. The free biscuits were lovely. The bathroom was a good size. It had everything you’d need for a night away. We did get a lot of noise from the smokers standing outside the bar and the music from the bar was quite loud. Good job I brought earplugs. The cooked breakfast was absolutely fantastic!! Staff were friendly. I’d stay here again.

Just home after a last minute nite away and we were so happy we picked the lounge bar and hotel. Stunning place. Room was huge, bed was like sleeping on a cloud and the vegetarian breakfast was the best. Ohhh and they do the best pornstar cocktails. We cannot wait to go back. Thanks to all staff who were great x

I read a few negative reviews on the lounge Hotel but I'm glad we still visited. We had a great visit. We are a family of 3. (have a 2 year old) Perfect location into town. Good sized car park to rear of property. Easy to find. Staff very welcoming, polite and helpful. We needed to keep our daughters milk in the fridge (the rooms don't have them) but the ti's behind the bar was more than happy to keep down stairs with them untill we needed it. Breakfast was good. You are waited on for hot items. Also have some items that you can help your self to. Ceral, fruit, yogurts and cold drinks which was really good. We will definitely return.

Spontaneous last minute decision for a Fabulous night away for NYE. Lounge bar and hotel public hous was lovely, friendly staff throughout the stay, the lovely ladies work so hard and nothing to much trouble. Our room was comfortable warm and clean. Bed and pillows so comfy. Food was fresh and delicious. Cocktails were fabulous. Breakfast spot on. It's not a stand out hotel, although on a busy highstreet in Penrith town centre, so a hidden gem indeed. Would definitely stay again. If I had to find something... The hot water could have been hotter, didn't need to add any cold to my bath but it did not spoil our stay.
