Superb location and the property true to pictures. Plentiful supply of hot water for lovely big bath. Property was a little quirky and rough around the edges but if you want perfection go to top end holiday let companies and pay top end prices. My main criticism would be of Sykes Cottages description of the property. I would have to...

I am so glad this reviewer enjoyed The Gatehouse and the spirit in which it was made. That is very pleasing to hear. However I am sorry the listing with Sykes is misleading and I will contact them about that. Just to put one thing right - had I been here, I would have shown you that there is a...

I can understand why some visitors might find Kelleth Old Hall outside their comfort zone especially if they like Premier Inns and Travel Lodges! Charlotte has created an imaginative and singular home that she shares with visitors and is a very good cook! Thoroughly enjoyed our stay despite the foul weather.

From outside a nice old house with great views of the hills even if someone is building a glass/plastic conservatory in front of the views......Don't understand why....There is no garden or BBQ to enjoy outside if not a small space between the house and the other building. However conveniently located near the M6. Inside the house is very characteristic, maybe...

We rented Kelleth Old Hall to bring in the New Year with a group of friends. It was a lovely quirky old house filled with interesting art and books and the extra additions of an open fire and piano made it even more exciting for us. The rooms are comfortable and stylishly decorated; however, at times a little chilly but...

There are some great images of the Gatehouse cottage on the owner's own website, and they fully illustrate the enjoyable idiosyncrasies of the place. From its quirky framed pictures adorning all walls to the handsome mismatched furniture, from the classic freestanding bath and chic tiling to the balcony bed overlooking the main living space, it was an absolute delight. As...

We have just returned from a short break at The gate house at Kelleth Old Hall. What a wonderfully exciting place to stay. No shortage of character and although probably not to everyones taste if your looking for something special then please do book because the owner has done a really good job of creating a haven away from the...

The Gate House The venue is pretty from the outside – situated about half way between the Dales and the Lake District (around 15 miles from Kendal), it is a stone ‘cottage’ come industrial/farming looking building (an ex barn, I believe) with full length doors to the street and a rear entrance through a large metal gateway. On arrival we...

I am very sorry that Mr & Mrs Treadway did not like The Gatehouse. Largely I think their complaints are based on the fact that they did not like the style of the place. It is surprising that they did not gather from the extensive photographs on the Sykes Cottages website quite what that style is. I accept it is...

We had been looking for a place to stay for one night enroute from London to Scotland and found this BandB on the web. We were met by Charlotte, the owner, and shown to a wonderfully comfortable room with superb views across from the bedroom window. It was blissfully quiet, a very large and comfortable bed and an excellent dinner...

We first stayed 1 year ago, returning this summer because the experience had been so good. The location is wonderful (stunning views, quiet, but convenient for the M6). The house is fascinating - homely, full of character, old-fashioned but comfortable (we love the extra-long bath). The food is excellent and very generous. The warmth of the welcome is quite wonderful.

Thanks to all kinds of variabilities, I am now back at the helm in Cumbria full-time. So Kelleth Old Hall is available once again to B&B guests week-round, with me in charge. Charlotte
