Walking through the entrance felt like coming home to rest. A beautiful oak-panelled foyer and a friendly welcome from reception greeted us on arrival. They were happy to help us with any questions. We were especially grateful to Shirley-Anne who let us borrow a phone charger and umbrella when we needed them. We were so pleased with our room, it was really cosy. The sheets and towels were spotless and the room was nice and warm when we entered. The ensuite bathroom had everything we needed though could have been cleaner, for the price we were happy. Tea and coffee facilities were provided as well as biscuits. Breakfast was also lovely and the staff were very attentive and helpful. Around the building, there were plenty of quiet spaces with books, soft chairs, and lovely views from the window. There was such a peaceful atmosphere, it was easy to rest, especially after a long day walking. The gardens outside were lovely to explore, particularly the waterfall nearby. We would have happily stayed there longer.

We really loved our stay at Rydal hall. We stayed on a campsite near the waterfall and had a great view of fields. It was peaceful and loved that we could have our own fire. However, the toilets were a bit of a walk away and you can't park the car next to the tent. Sometimes the noise of the waterfall got in your head a bit. But that's the only negatives. We plan to come again sometime!

This is the 3rd time of staying here and there have been a few changes since our last visit. Most notable is the lack of hot breakfast (sad face emoji). It is still the most wonderful hotel in a beautiful setting close to Rydal Water. Lovely waiting staff at breakfast.

If you are expecting 5 star luxury then this is not for you, however if you enjoy truly unique surroundings and genuine peace and tranquility then look no further. Rydal Hall is primarily a Christian retreat which opens its doors to all, offering very good basic accommodation within a historic setting. I stayed for just one night during a business stop over and found my room perfectly satisfactory, basic facilities but perfectly fine and representing good value for money at £75 a night bed and continental breakfast. Bed was comfortable, shower was excellent, towels clean and fluffy etc. No television in the room as this is in keeping with the get away from it all aim, very good internet connection though so not entirely cut off from what's going on. The breakfast was of very good quality and with a fine choice of pastry, fruit, cereal, cheese, meats etc (personally would have preferred a cooked option as I never find a continental sets you up quite the same). Attentive and very friendly staff, both in the dining room and reception, felt they went that extra mile in making sure you were comfortable and relaxed. The grounds and gardens are an absolute treasure, numerous paths to wander all with stunning views of the surrounding hills, plus waterfalls and streams. Very nice tea room set in the rear courtyard and licensed bar open in the evening. Bonus for me was that it is very dog friendly.

booking reference DBM52682528393638 stayed 2 nights mid week middle June 2023 lovely to look at campground and possibly the nicest five star facilities in the lakesdistrict. however the praise ends there ..... there is no control over noise after 10.30pm and both nights was kept awake until midnight and after ! mostly by teenagers from various groups. also both mornings disturbed by campers packing up to leave one lot at 4.30 am ! and the next morning another lot at 6 am ! and as there is no warden or admin after whatever o'clock cars were returning after 11pm and leaving long before 7.30am there was also someone shouting their 'head off' for some 2 hours from 7am somewhere adjacent to the campsite. there are virtually no flat tent pitches anywhere pain in the .... the rule about no vehicles next to tents seemed like a nice idea until you realise how far to carry all the cooking gear and food with only one tiny fridge down at the loos for the whole site. there is no under cover communal cooking or sitting area. and it's possibly the most expensive camping in the lakesdistrict. I was lured to it thinking it would be so peaceful and a 'step up' from the average lakesdistrict site but it was far from my expectations and even though its a lovely site to look at I would not go back and would save my money for a cheaper site elsewhere.

Beautiful camping site, amazing views and lovely clean facilities. The staff are lovely and helpful and the gardens/grounds are stunning. Would definitely come again, however our stay was ruined as we'd paid a lot of money to stay in a yurt which was managed by an outside company at the site and it was filthy dirty with mice infested damp and mould.

The view of the building is very nice but that's where it ends. The internal doesn't look like is has been touched in 70 years. The customer servicing is pretty none existent. Check in is 4pm, don't you dare turn up before that. Consider the breakfast as a warm drink and that's it. Heavy stained carpet in room. Shower takes a long time to get warm and continue following but when it does get there, it is ok. Heavy christian presence, really in your face. Not that you watch TV much in hotel but no TV which is just odd.

Camped here for a few nights. Despite weather not being on our side, we had a fab break. Facilities were clean, there was also a freezer to refreeze cooler packs. Ground was hard and rocky on our pitch so if camping make sure you have good rock pegs. Also could not park your car at the pitch so have to carry everything up hill. The tea room was fantastic. We went a couple of times and had coffee, panini and cakes. It is also a dog friendly site. Staff were lovely and brought the dogs some treats as well. Not a far walk into Ambleside through a walkway and also to Grassmere .

While walking the coffin route from Ambleside to Grasmere, we stopped and had a wander around Rydal Hall estate which is beautifully kept and well worth a visit. What was a wonderful surprise was the ‘tea shop’ located by the river, such a lovely spot. It was lunchtime so we decided to stay and have lunch, before we continued on to Grasmere. We were pleasantly surprised not just by the location, but the warm and professional welcome we received from the staff (inside the hall too as we had a look around) and the food was excellent. A good range of options for a few of us, all the cakes looked delicious and the tea and coffee were delicious too. We would highly recommend a visit to Rydal Hall and their tea shop when you are in this area. Next time we are visiting we may even come and stay here too

My wife and I were visiting the Lake District from the States for a few days to sight see and hike. We LOVED our stay at Rydall Hall!! We had a room with a view of the garden. A beautiful view of the hills and green meadows of sheep. And William Wordsworth's last house he lived in is right next door!! We can't wait to go back!!
