A very lovely stay at the Lamplighter. Huge room and bathroom and lovely seating area. Breakfast was one of the best we have ever had and served by a lovely, friendly lady each morning. A great Christmas stay in the Lakes.

Food was very good from breakfast to dinner. Accommodation could have been much better. No radiator working in the room over a very cold few days. The portable radiator worked after the first gave up the ghost. The window had to be propped open with a book, once you could get it open. I would have liked a different room but the hotel may have been full. Hence it was never offered. Staff very nice and efficient. Overall parts of the hotel looked very tired. The second dining room where we eat the first night was horrible. The main dining room was a complete contrast . Much more modern and warm. Three stars awarded and that was because of the food and staff.

Older historical building in need of some TLC. Bed was comfy, linens and towels lush. Breakfast was lovely served 2 days by very curt unfriendly server and other 2 days by the loveliest server ever. Was not made to feel welcomed at all. Manager (?) basically looked right through us and did not smile or acknowledge us at all.

Had a fantastic stay at this lovely place, staff I met were polite , smart , friendly and helpful Room was on a good position do very quiet and very clean Breakfast I could not fault it The only fault was the wall on the stairs leading to the bedrooms , it looks in need of some serious repair , but knowing the supply of workmen, builders etc , no doubt they are still waiting for someone to attend Otherwise it was a charming experience

Spent last night at the Lamplighter. Starting with a very warm welcome, we were two hours early for booking in time! but the receptionist went to check on our room she came back and booked us in, The room was massive with a gigantic bed, had a great nights sleep to say our room faced the main road. very clean, coffee machine and tea/coffee making facilities bath room was very large, with shower over bath the shower was good to use ample towels , there was a room where you could hang your cloths up and store your luggage The bar a large selection of spirits and beer/ larger but lacking in snacks crisps nuts etc decently priced, Restaurant well laid out, reasonably priced, staff were very knowledgeable about the food and explained all the dishes we asked about. the food its self i couldn't fault it all the food was hot and ample i have to give it 10/10 we had three courses and everything was perfect, Breakfast i have nothing against dogs but we were sat at a table, the waiter was very efficient. he asked what we would like my wife asked for tea i asked for orange juice of which i got three glasses, not being a big Cumberland sausage fan i asked if pork sausage were an alternative and available, was informed no sorry, i accepted this, our breakfast came not only looked delicious again 10/10 the only thing that spoilt it for me a couple were sat in the same area as us, with two massive golden Labradors sorry if i offend anyone dogs apart from guide dogs shouldn't be allowed in restaurants ( my opinion which i am entitled to) would we stay here again DEFINATLEY

Lovely night spent at the Lamplighter. Very warm welcome on arrival. Excellent room, well proportioned and decorated. Spotlessly clean. Coffee maker and kettle with fully stocked hospitality tray. Bathroom spacious and modern. Lovely terrace for evening drinks. Breakfast was delicious and well cooked. Service with a smile! In lovely area of Windermere lots of small artisan shops, cafes and bars! Will definitely be back.

Hotel was very efficient in re arranging a booking for us due to an injury. We arrived early so we just parked our car up and went out for a few hours. Check in was straightforward but when we seen our room we thought it was a little small considering we were staying 2 nights with our dog. I asked if all standard rooms were the same size and happily got offered a bigger room which was lovely. Loads of room facing outwards towards the main road. Only think i could really pick about was the fact that their was only pull down blinds for privacy so when you were laying on your bed people walking past could see you. Obviously had to close the blinds when changing etc. Strange thing was in the toilet it was exactly the same but the window wasn't even frosted. So if you stood to pee everyone could see you. Wasn't much of a problem for us but might be for some. Plenty of tea & coffee etc in room, bed was massive and tv adequate for our stay. First night's sleep was disturbed by bin men at 5am sounded like they were in our room it was that loud. Then around an hour later people started dragging their bins back in so beware if staying on a Wednesday night might need ear plugs. 2nd sleep was fine. The breakfast were stunning we had the eggs benadict with toast which was really fresh and tasty. Couldn't really fault the hotel except for the possibility of double glazing out the front for a better night's sleep.

Really lovely evening meal. Friendly, polite staff from first arrival to departure. Excellent food quality, taste and presentation. Two vegetarian options were good, but a bit limited. Recommend the Lamplighter vegetarian curry. And a cheese board to die for! Well done Lamplighter. We would highly recommend you.
