Nestled in a prime spot, Windermere Park B&B receives accolades for its prime location near attractions and easy access to public transportation. While the rooms earn compliments for their cleanliness, a handful of guests suggest an update to the decor and maintenance. The comfortable atmosphere is generally well-received, though opinions on value are divided, with some concerns over extra charges.
The service shines with mentions of friendly staff and enjoyable breakfasts, yet occasional service hiccups are noted. Despite mixed reviews on certain amenities, the B&B's cleanliness and dog-friendly policy are popular highlights.

Property's Favourite Review
Our 3rd visit to Windermere Park and once again we had a fantastic stay. The new management team of Helena and John were great, they really helped make our stay as easy as possible. They were happy for us to have access to a high chair for our toddler whenever we needed and also kept ice packs for our cool packs in their freezer so we could keep his milk cold.
The breakfasts were excellent. Our dog Eddie especially enjoyed his bacon & sausage for his breakfast!
The Oscar Wilde suite was spotlessly clean and having both a lounge space and bedroom meant we had loads of room and could still relax after our little boy had gone down.
Only negative is the bed, it is massive and looks great but does need a new mattress pretty urgently.
The location is excellent for local amenities. It’s a 2 minute stroll to shops, pubs and restaurants in Windermere or 20 minutes down the hill to the lake. If you want a decent walk with incredible views head up to Orrest Head, you’ll earn a slice of cake for sure.
We will be back.

We booked this hotel due to the reasonable rates, the location, it is dig friendly and also the fact that it had parking which I believe is a struggle to get at other places of similar price/location. I called ahead to enquire about adding dogs and they said we could book the room and pay for the dogs on arrival so this is what we did. On arrival we were greeted by a lovely bubbly lady and the manager, they booked us in and we told them we had the 3 dogs in the car so we went out to collect them. On our return we were wonderfully surprised by a free upgrade to a bigger room as they felt it would give us more space for us and the 3 dogs. They were so welcoming of the dogs which was lovely as sometimes I worry that having 3 dogs is too much for some places. They are even happy for them to come down into the breakfast room in the morning. There were quite a few dogs staying at the B&B which again was lovely to see and reassured us. There needs to be more B&B's as accommodating as this one, especially in these locations where people are likely to travel with their dogs. The breakfast was lovely each morning, lots on offer in general along with hot options. The accommodation is a little tired in places but you can see they are doing works to areas of the building. I also wasn't expecting 5* accommodation because I paid a very reasonable price for my 3 nights stay. I will definitely stay here again if i bring the dogs or not. It's a great location, walking distance from lots of bars, cafes and restaurants and also a nice walk down into Bowness.

I booked here with my dog for the night basically as it was one of the cheapest I found with a good location.
The lady at reception/breakfast was lovely and helpful, breakfast was fab, good choice of hot and cold and she also brought out a bowl of sausages for Millie (nice touch)
The only thing I would say is I am a visual person so the decor is slightly old fashioned and the carpet in my room needed updating but the sheets were lovely clean and white, bathroom spotless and I enjoyed my stay. Thank you 😁

My 3rd time at this hotel, be it a good few years ago! Sadly decor pretty much the same thus making our twin room look somewhat tired. Both our single beds comfy and we did have a decent nights sleep.
Our bath badly marked with what I’d assume was a burn, but the shower was lovely and hot. On entering the hotel we were greeted with a mighty strong smell of cannabis, we were on the ground floor so can only assume it’s from the staff areas.
The hotel reception and our bedroom uncomfortably hot on arrival, once we’d opened the window our room was a bit more bearable.
Plenty of choice on the breakfast and I’m sure most folk would find something they enjoyed.
The hotel has free onsite parking and the location is very central to both Windermere and a 10 minute walk down to Bowness.
I’d suggest ringing the hotel direct to book as I feel they can offer a better price than some of the booking sites. For what we paid £172 for two nights I’d say the price was competitive for the area and location.

We stayed for three nights in August 2023. This is definitely a BnB not a hotel. There is no food or bar service beyond breakfast.
The good bits...
The bed was comfortable and the linens clean and of good quality. The bathroom was relatively modern and mostly clean. Breakfast was very tasty and fresh. Check in was easy and the staff were generally friendly, courteous and helpful. The reception area has a nice wood panelled decor and the rest of of the building is going through refurbishment. Parking was easy too and the hotel was a short walk into Windermere and about a 15 min walk into Bowness.
The not so good bits..
Breakfast service was variable. The first morning we booked and arrived for the 9.30 serving and the buffet table was basically empty. Not even coffee. We had to make several requests before coffee and bread for toast arrived. On another morning the milk was off. There was also a mouse poison box next to the table in the breakfast room. The bathroom in our room was mostly clean but there was heavy dust behind the loo and sink. There were also some plastic remnants back there too. Room cleaning was non existent. We had left out the 'Please make up our room' both mornings but, while the tag had been placed back in our room when we returned, the only thing that had been done was one bin had been emptied and, one one day only, they had replaced the dirty cups. On the second day nothing had been done. We alerted the duty manager and he did give us new cups, milk, tea etc. The bathroom was never cleaned, the bed never made etc,. Be sure to take your own toiletries too as these are not topped up after you check in.
Overall we were disappointed. This was sad in a way as, with just a few tweaks, it could be so much better. Would we return? Probably not. It wasn't cheap and there is plenty of choice of accommodation close by.

The B&B is perfectly located a short walk to many shops and restaurants and a short drive (or long, but manageable walk) to the lake. The staff are wonderful and extremely friendly. The breakfast is great with several hot choices, ranging from a full English to eggs and bacon. The property itself is very warm and inviting. During our stay, renovations were being done, so I imagine it will be even better in the near future. Specifically, the only real complaint was that the window in the room we were in didn't shut all the way, so some traffic noise came in. However, the staff told me that window was actually being replaced the following week! Other than that, the room was huge and comfortable. Our family of 4 had plenty of space. The bathroom was also very large with a large soaker tub and separate shower. I will definitely return when we come back to the Lake District in the future!

We booked the most expensive room at Windermere Park, The Oscar Wilde Suite. While large and with 3 pull out sofa beds it offered little else. The double glazing was poor making the room very noisy to outside traffic, the slats on the bed were falling off as they had been secured with brown tape, there was a large hole in the floor covered with the carpet making a severe trip hazard, loose table top, extractor fan not working in the bathroom but above all the worst thing was the dirt. Any hotel MUST be clean and this place is not. Thick dust under the bed, dust on the skirting, window frames and the wood panel walls had not been cleaned for weeks. In a room costing £180/night I expect some complementary drinks, fresh fruit etc..
In the dining room one of the blinds was hanging half broken and there was dust and cobwebs, a sign of lack of maintenance and basic cleaning. The downstairs toilet had paper towels over the floor as the bin was full, obviously it had not been checked for a while.
A real shame as the property had real character but due to lack of care the signs of neglect were all too obvious and must be addressed as a matter of urgency.
Saying we don't have the staff is not an answer, if you can't provide clean accommodation for your guests then keep that area closed until you can especially when you are charging high rates.
Breakfast was good, the food was hot and a fair choice was offered, but once again lack of staff spoiled the service.
A spacious well maintained car park is provided for guests which was very welcome

Honestly cannot thank the staff enough they were fantastic both to me and my rather chatty dog. They were knowledgeable of the area so certainly made the trip memorable. The room was huge for the price. The breakfast fresh and clearly local produce. Simply amazing. Also a great location 20 minutes from the pier, bus stops right outside to access to other local lakes and 5 minutes from the train station meant it was very accessible

It's taken me a week to decide on whether I should write this, I realised people work hard for their money and time off so deserve to stay somewhere that won't disappoint.
Good things: welcoming reception, good parking, good location, honest staff.
Worst bits: (we had top floor family bedroom) the carpet which is pale cream is stained in places, there was long black hair all over the carpet, the white bed sheet had rust like stains on them, the grout in the shower has black mould, the actual tiles in the corner of the shower had mould on, the shower head had black gunk on it (the gunk and mould on the tiles I had to wipe off with soap and water it wasn't hard). The next morning we went down to breakfast and only offered sausages or bacon for hot food. (Things were mounting and I was getting annoyed) we came back after placing our "please make up our room" card on the door to find it not vacuumed (still black hair against a cream carpet) the mugs we used for tea and coffee still dirty, tea caddy not re filled, beds not made so stain still visible. At this point I had had enough so refused to stay any longer as there clearly was not a care in the world. Told the staff we were leaving listing all the above and they were helpful so I cannot fault the two employees they were kind, perhaps overloaded? I don't know, but overall I would not recommend this place in the present format which is a shame as the location etc is right.

Stayed for 2 nights with our girls (dogs ) perfect location. We had a large superior room which was great for the dogs . Breakfast was great as you can take dogs into the dining room . Lots of choice and the cooked choice was beautiful. They even bring out sausages cut up in bowls for the dogs which we thought was lovely . Location is great to explore and there's a really good choice of bars cafe restaurants nearby which most were very accommodating with the dogs . We stayed in a large group with a further 2 dogs and we all thought was perfect for the weekend. We will definitely be booking again very soon . Thankyou

I did it through Booking com filters just add pet friendly ask for the Oscar Wilde suite great big room loads of space for woofers
To be honest I don’t know. However, I did have special requests and they went out of their way to help and meet my request. All I can advise is contact them and ask. I’m sure if they can they will accommodate.
