My wife and I have been staying at the Hawksmoor for well over 10 years now and we have always had a wonderful time what ever the weather and our most recent stay was no exception. We had room 12 as this is our favourite room with a huge comfy bed and a large TV perfect for watching dvds when its cold, dark and wet outside. There is also a lovely balcony area which overlooks some woods and a stream, you can open the door or window and the room is filled with the most relaxing sound of running water. The room is also a really good size. The ensuite is also really nice with underfloor heating and a heated towel rail. The service we always receive from Philippa and Trevor is second to none. They are extremely approachable and are happy to assist where they can. On this recent stay we got really drenched after a few hours of walking so went back at lunchtime to change and they kindly offered to put our coats in their boiler room to help dry them for the following day. Also on this recent visit my wife and I were reluctant to eat out due to covid and when we mentioned this to Phillipa she offered a table in her breakfast room each night so we could order takeaway and eat at a table. She even set up plates and cutlery and glasses for us and offered us tap water. We really appreciated this as it meant we could relax more at meal times. The location of Hawksmoor is perfect for exploring the south lakes from. With both windermere and Bowness within easy walking distance and with all the amazing walks and restaurants and shops at easy reach. Its also easy to explore further by car or bus. Finally the breakfast here is simply amazing. We often go for the full English which is called the Fell Walker breakfast and it certainly sets you up for a day of walking. The produce they have sourced is amazing and its all prepared to order and brought to you perfectly cooked. We also tried the eggs Royale for the first time on this stay and we were both blown away by the flavours of this dish. So if you are looking to stay in the south Lake District then I couldn't recommend this place more highly. …
We booked this guest house through a recommendation and were not disappointed! Both Philippa and Trevor are welcoming hosts with tea and homemade shortbread biscuits on arrival. We stayed in room 11 with the four poster bed and both the room and en-suite were spacious and comfortable. The breakfast was gorgeous and the hosts were there to help/give recommendations if needed. Thank you for a perfect stay and we will be back when we next visit!
My wife and I had yet another fantastic 2 nights last week at Hawksmoor - it's the only place we'll stay when we visit the Lakes. It may be a Guest House but you always get 5 Star service from hosts Philipa and Trevor (and,of course, Fiona). They can't do enough for you and Trevor's breakfasts are something to behold - you certainly won't go hungry! We've stayed in many of the individually designed rooms over the last few years, all of which are beautiful in their own right. Our favourite is Room 12 which has its own balcony overlooking the woods and stream - so peaceful. Hawksmoor's location is perfect, halfway between Bowness and Windermere and it has its own spacious car park. I can highly recommend Hawksmoor and can't wait to visit again next year.
We have just returned from the Hawksmoor guest house, it was recommended by our daughter and she wasn't wrong it's a lovely place Trevor and Philapa are such nice people and excellent hosts we had a very nice room at the back of the hotel which overlooks the woods and Brook, we had a great breakfast which filled us up for the day, Trevor is a good chef great poached eggs. Our room was spotless as the hotel, everything in place due to the covid we would always give ten out of ten for this lovely place and will definitely return thanks again.
We stayed 2 nights at Hawksmoor and enjoyed our stay greatly. The hosts were welcoming (coffee & biscuits on arrival) without being intrusive. We stayed in room 7, which was on the ground floor overlooking woodlands so quiet. Our room was spotless, nicely decorated and large. The bed was enormous and very comfy! Tea/coffee facilities were replenished daily. The breakfast was fab! Nothing was too much trouble so you could ask for some replacement ingredient if you didn't like one of the items on the list. The eggs royale were particularly tasty. Covid-19 rules were followed closely and so we felt safe all during our stay. The guest house is half way between Windermere and Bowness so easy access to the lake and plenty of restaurants, cafes, shops. Thank you Philippa and Trevor (& also Dominika and Fiona) for a lovely break. …
