This hotel is the best I have ever stayed in, in the Lake District!!
The rooms are so well designed I stayed in room 6 described as a mini double but it was perfectly proportioned warm, comfortable high quality bed, beautifully decorated, plenty of storage, amazing shower, tea/coffee making facilities bathrobes and incredibly quiet. Yet only 4 minute walk into central Windermere (I times it, yes I am sad. Finally the breakfast is very high quality, non greasy and delicious and to top it off tea and homemade cakes are served from 2:30-5.00pm I had a Victoria sponge which was the best I have tasted.
Cannot recommend the Hideaway enough absolutely faultless.

We had stayed here previously a few years earlier and remembered it being lovely so decided to return for a little uk break and we’re so pleased to find even with all the new rules and regulations in place it was just as wonderful if not better!
Richard and his colleague (sorry I don’t remember his name) where lovely and couldn’t do enough, they are so friendly and welcoming as though you’ve known them years! Any advice of places to visit or taxis to use and they are always forthcoming with plenty of information!
if you are feeling uneasy about booking places I would 100% recommend staying here as we didn’t feel for one second that we where at any risk. There are hand sanitizer stations at various points, the breakfast is now provided at your specified sitting time that you choose when you check in so you are way more than 2metre from any other diners. The rooms are spotless and they have thought of every detail with extra safety. Even down to them leaving your items such as clean towels on a chair outside your door so that you needn’t be face to face more than necessary.
The breakfast is absolutely delicious, a great choice of cold cereals and fruits, then the most gorgeous English breakfast that again they are more than happy to make any little changes to suit your taste!
There was plenty of tea coffee and hot chocolate in your room.. and we where delighted to find that they had even found a way to make their complimentary afternoon slice of cake Covid safe! Rather than have it in the public lounge area they now provide it wrapped when you go for breakfast so you can have it later in the day!
The location is ideal, it is a couple of minutes walk to Windermere where there are plenty of places for food or a little drink, and a lovely ice cream shop! Or then only a 20minute walk down to Boweness, you can get a taxi for no more than a few £ but we enjoyed the stroll.
We love that this is literaly a ‘hideaway’ and is tucked away in piece and quiet but then still conveniently close to anything you may want to visit whilst you’re there!
Both times we visited we chose to book the room that has a fridge, it was super convenient for storing picnic supplies and a bottle of wine for relaxing after a long walk.. (i think it was room 5 but I could be wrong).. the room is stunning with big windows, much like the rest of the house!
I would definitely recommend if you need a little break we would definitely recommend and will no doubt return ourselves again one day!

This is so much more than your average B and B. Just returned from another really enjoyable stay. From arrival felt absolutely safe and secure. Check in is now in the car park. Whole property as always is spotless. Breakfast was superb both in quality and choice. Only 3 tables in the dining room so plenty of social distancing. Even though the room was not entered by staff during the stay, towels and toiletries were replaced daily. Tea coffee and homemade cake was still on offer just in the room instead of lounge. I would highly recommend to even the most nervous traveller.

This was our first break away since lockdown restrictions were lifted. We were very grateful and impressed with the levels Richard and the time had gone to to ensure we were fully briefed and cared for before and during the whole of our stay. Check in was done remotely and we were welcomed in the car park by Richard who gave us all the information we needed.

Our room was very spacious, with our own Patio (Room 1). The roll top bath was amazing and the bed was super comfy. The grounds around the hotel were beautiful too. If the weather was that little bit dryer it definitely provides a lovely space to relax outdoors.

We were provided with clean towels and room amenities each day. These were handled in a bag which would be left outside our room. We would take the replenished items and put our used items back in the bag. This allowed us to keep our room clean and with fresh items without the need for staff to come into the room.

The breakfasts were fantastic each day. I would highly recommend the egg and soldiers.

The added touches of providing us with slices of freshly baked cakes each day was just lovely. We are not big cake eaters and had to pass on cake on our third day but the triple chocolate and carrot cakes we did manage to eat were amazing!

The only things we could suggest that would make this stay even better would be some slippers for the room. The robes were very soft. Also (although this would be a big job for them to do) would be heated floors in the bathroom. But, slippers would help resolve the cold feet when dashing to the loo!

All in all this was a fantastic, very enjoyable first stay back in the Lakes. I would highly recommend staying with Richard and the team to anyone.

Just returned from a night away with my husband at this lovely guesthouse. What a perfect place to stay would highly recommend, great location, breakfast beautiful soo much choice and fresh cake delivery on an afternoon was a lovely extra treat. The staff were superb from start to finish, very friendly and could not do enough for us. The place was spotless and clean and the new procedures in place for covid are very thorough. It is a 20-25 minute walk to Bowness down hill with cafes/bars just around the corner too. We would definitely stay here again, we loved our stay. Many Thanks for a great night away.

Reception:
Richard at reception was great, very knowledgeable on the local area. He provided us with all the information we could possibly need. Cake of the day was provided at check in, which is a nice personal touch.

Room / facilities:
Room number 11 is on the floor located between ground and first floor and is very clean and spacious and has a green park view.

The room does not have air conditioning or a fridge but does have windows that opens fully.

The two single beds were joined to form a king bed. This was very comfortable and the 4 pillows were supportive and provided a good nights sleep.
The room contained tea and coffee facilities, bed side tables, chest of drawers, clothes hanging area, 2 seater sofa, and coffee table.
The bathroom is nice with a shower in the tub.

Laundry:
There is no self service coin laundry on premises, although there is one in town, which closes at 5.30 pm and was not a very appealing location to wash clothes.

Parking:
Complementary is available to all guests

Wifi:
Complementary and good speed password is required.

Breakfast:
Available to all guests and a time for breakfast was required to be pre booked. This was a great idea to avoid all guests having breakfast at once and to spread out guests for covid reasons.

A traditional English breakfast (complete with blood pudding) is available in the dining room, and each table is set in a formal style.
Various hot food is made to order, Richard walks around and takes orders and pre-cooked toast shortly after you sit.
There is a selection of which contains cereals, yogurt, jams and spreads, fresh fruits, tea and coffee.
Cake of the day is delivered along with other cakes or croissants.

Conclusion:
Perfect hosts, close walk to Windermere town and its offering, plenty of off street parking for guests

Location / Nearby:
Windermere town is a quick 5 minute walk.

The information is not related to the hotel:
No matter where you drive to in town or the UK, payment for parking is required. Most parking meters accept coin and card “tap” facilities (if functioning). Generally after 6.00pm or 8.00pm parking is free, in designated locations.

We stayed here for the weekend it was a return stay as we have been before. This hidden gem of a hotel is tucked away down a quiet road with excellent access and plenty parking . The owners Richard and Lisa make you very welcome and nothing is too much trouble. Our room was immaculate and the breakfast menu is amazing - the covid restrictions in place are excellent without being too restrictive you feel safe - at present you get to choose an allocated time for breakfast to avoid too many people in the dining area at once - the hotel is only a five minute walk from Windermere village yet hidden from the hustle and bustle! Highly recommended we will be back

4 nights and perfect for our needs. We spent each day out walking so we were only looking for something to lay our heads.

The Hideaway was great, ample car-parking, lovely welcome, friendly service, comfortable room with a clean and modern bathroom. We booked the smallest of the double rooms but it was much more spacious than the pictures showed.

Breakfast was very good, nice selection of cooked foods including a veggie breakfast. Homemade cake is still served everyday and their dealing with Covid and fresh towels, tea/coffee, cakes etc was really well done.

Very close to Ambleside and easier access when entering the Lakes.

My husband and I have just returned after 2 nights at this lovely hotel. We were in room 12. It was spacious and very clean. It had a spiral staircase leading down to the bathroom, which was huge. Tea, coffee and milk was delivered to our room as well as homemade cake, which was yummy. The room was a tad cold on the first night but we were given a blanket the next morning as soon as we reported it. The measures to keep us save due to COVID were excellent. Fresh towels we in a bag outside our room and we then put our used ones in the bag which was then taken away. We have been to the lakes a lot but have to say the breakfast here was the best we’ve ever had. The selection was vast and if the very best quality. The two lovely ladies who served us were very friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. I would definitely recommend this hotel and will be booking it again when we return in the summer. Thankyou for a lovely stay and a special thanks to the owner who was a fantastic host, see you soon.
