Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Our original plan was a 2 night Sat/Sun stay, contacted The Hideaway to change this to 3 nights 10 days before our visit with me staying soli on the Fri due to being at a lical event. Transport issues meant we had to change this back to 2 nights a week before arriving; not a problem! Richard couldn’t have been easier or nicer to deal with. Come arrival day & our travel plans were disrupted due to Windermere being hit by a ‘Snowbomb’ of epic proportions turning a normal 2 hr journey into an overall 13 1/2 hours! Contact from Richard was out of concern for our safety rather than potential lost business & was regular throughout the journey & he was kind enough to provide updates on conditions at our destination Holding the thought of a relaxing pint & a G&T at the end of our journey we soldiered on (not much of a choice with that due to road conditions) pub closing time came & went & our eventual arrival was a little before 02:00. We arrived to find a marked & cleared car parking space & cake, fresh milk & additional brew supplies in the room, i’ve never been so happy to see a slice of Victoria sponge! Awesome well cooked & presented breakfast, attentive & welcoming staff, a proprietor that cares, lovely rooms & the comfiest of beds. A 2 minute walk from Windermere centre yet a peaceful & relaxing location. We both look forward to returning at the earliest opportunity.

We stayed here after being stranded due to the snow. The owner Richard was extremely helpful and accommodating and so friendly throughout our entire stay. Our room were very clean, cosy and very comfortable. Lovely view too. There are so many lovely old features e.g the tiled hallway, the stained glass windows etc. Breakfast was delicious and staff were very accommodating. Despite the circumstances of our stay we loved it and would definitely return.

Very clean with attentive staff and amazing fulfilling breakfasts. Cakes were a nice addition and the location was good for local Windermere. Nice downhill walk into Bowness. We stayed in room 12 which was lovely but I'd just ward others that stay in this room that the spiral staircase is a little tight. We were fine with it but I can see others maybe struggling.

Stayed here for two nights in October. At check in met the owner and showed me around and to my room and gave me my cake of the day. Even went and got some fresh milk for me to have a cup of tea with the cake. Could not have been friendlier. He checked in on me every day at breakfast and said hello. Breakfast was amazing! so many options and all very nice. Would gladly return here no issue when back in Windemere. Thanks for a great stay!

The hideaway is a 5/10 walk from the train station so it's a great location. When we arrived we were greeted with a warm welcome by Richard and a another staff member who showed us to our room. As Bed and breakfasts stand I can say this is more like a hotel then a b&b it's beautiful. Our first morning we went to breakfast at our appointed time(picked at check in) we chose a table and sat down, not two minutes later the waitress was taking our order. Breakfast is something of a treat to us as we don't normally eat it at home. I was quickly waving a white flag, the waitress came for our drinks order and with that came Toast, Then she came back with croissants and the most amazing Orange breakfast cake. After that she came back to take our main order. I ordered the breakfast boomer, which was amazing. Just before our mains arrived the waitress came back and asked if we were staying another night, we said Yes and she offered us a slice of cake to take out with us. That me tell you we stayedThree nights so I tried the Lemon drizzle, triple chocolate fudge cake and the carrot loaf cake, oh my days words can not describe how amazing these cakes are. Overall our experience has been amazing and we have felt so relaxed. Thank you so much to the staff at the Hideaway Windermere we will be back next year and we will be telling all our friends and family about this perfect B&B.

We had a wonderful stay at The Hideaway. Richard and his team were very welcoming and friendly. Our room was lovely, we even had our own private garden. The breakfast was amazing and the freshly baked cake everyday was a lovely touch. The Hideaway is also perfectly located and we enjoyed exploring around Windermere. We will definitely be back!
