A wonderful stay - a superbly located traditional B&B. Pre-arrival we had some requests as we were attending a wedding that day and Anita was very accommodating. The room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast cooked by Denis was super tasty. Anita has wonderful tales to tell and they both made us feel at home and very welcome. We'll be recommending The Archway to anyone wanting to stay in the area.

Denis and Anita are what makes the joy of travelling what lovely people they cannot do enough for you the breakfast is like staying at a plush 5 star hotel could not be better fresh fruit to start and I had the French toast my partner had the Caribbean breakfast you felt like you were looking over the sea in Barbados . 2 minute walk from the station and right in the centre of Windermere but tucked away on a quiet street . Power showers .

Thank you very much Martin and Helen for your fantastic review! Nice to be compared to a 5 star hotel, but we are just a B&B trying to give our guests a nice stay and experience in Windermere. Denis loves your breakfast comments and glad that his Caribbean breakfast took you to Barbados! :-) In this weather, although nice and sunny today, the Caribbean definitely sounds very tempting! We hope to welcome you back another time. Thanks again and please remember to BOOK DIRECT ON OUR WEBSITE for the best rate! Best wishes, Denis and Anita

We couldn't fault any aspect of our stay at The Archway Guesthouse. The hosts Anita and Dennis were so welcoming and so friendly. The room was clean, and spacious and the bed so comfortable. Breakfast was yummy and we will definitely be going back. Location is ideal for local shops, pubs, restaurants and bars and Bowness is about a 20 minute walk away. Highly recommended and we will be returning! Thanks Anita and Dennis.

An absolutely fabulous stay in Windermere with stunning scenery. Our hosts, Anita and Denis were delightful and went out of their way to provide for my wife’s gluten intolerance. The breakfast is outstanding and I would recommend the Caribbean breakfast for anyone willing to try something a little spicier. Anita was also very helpful and made good suggestions for things to see and do in the area. Our room had a fantastic view and was very comfortable. There’s an extensive library of guidebooks to peruse and many board games available if you want to relax inside. Our hosts also very kindly let us bring back takeaway to eat in the dining room. We would not hesitate to stay there again on our next visit to the Lake District.

As soon as you walk through the door, you feel welcomed. “Would you like some lemon drizzle cake?” was one of the best greetings I have ever received. Very welcome after a 7 hour trip from Essex. Alongside the great hospitality, they are fully geared up with walk and trip recommendations. The bookshelves are lined with handy guides. The bed is spacious and super comfortable. Lots of lovely places to eat locally. Anita & Denis love what they do, and you feel it.

We loved everything about our 4 night stay in the Archway Guesthouse. The hosts, Denis and Anita, made us feel really welcome and they were a joy to stay with. The location is ideal, being very close to the shops and restaurants and the rail and bus stations, yet located in a quiet neighbourhood. The room we stayed in (the Windermere) had a very light and spacious bedroom and bathroom, with comfortable beds, tasteful decor and fantastic views over the mountains. The breakfasts were brilliant, everything we tried (including the Caribbean) was top notch. All in all, a fantastic guest house offering great value for money and we can’t recommend it highly enough.

I spent 2 wonderful nights (and mornings) at this family-run guesthouse. I was welcomed from the start, greeted by Tessa, father Dennis, and brother Robert, and made to feel at home right away. The accommodations (I stayed in the Grasmere Room) were just what I needed, quiet, cozy, far away from the big city, yet still very close to everything, the Windermere train/bus station, nearby food markets, restaurants and within walking distance of Lake Windermere. The Breakfast offerings were also top notch. Treat yourself, you won't regret it!

If there were ever a perfect place to call heaven on earth, then Archway Guest House would be it. Made to feel so welcome from start to finish and the breakfasts I had on both mornings were to die for. The Windermere Suite was so comfy and homely, and the view from the window was spectacular. Denis and his son, Stephen, could not do enough for me and were really helpful with local information and allowing me to leave my luggage on my departure day while I went out walking in the hills. I will most definitely be back again in future, and will highly recommend Archway to family and friends when I return to Scotland. Thank you so much for making my stay one of the most memorable I’ve ever had.

We recently stayed at The Archway Guest House and can't recommend it enough. We were made to feel extremely welcome by the family running it from the moment we arrived. The room we stayed in had everything we needed and the view towards the lake from the window was beautiful. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious. We look forward to returning soon.
