Tripadvisor gives a Travellers’ Choice award to accommodations, attractions and restaurants that consistently earn great reviews from travellers and are ranked within the top 10% of properties on Tripadvisor.
The winner of many top-quality awards, Park Cliffe is set in 25 acres of picture-postcard countryside above the eastern shores of Windermere with sweeping views across the lake. Yet family-owned Park Cliffe enjoys easy access to the M6, putting it within easy reach of many major towns and cities in northern England. Just a short distance from Bowness-on-Windermere, the park is in a world of its own with breathtaking views over fell, lake and an abundance of woodland wildlife - squirrels, roe and red deer, foxes and birds - in evidence all around. In fact, TV botanist David Bellamy is an especially big fan of Park Cliffe, and has presented it with his prestigious Gold Conservation Award for its work in protecting the natural environment. There are lots of great walks right on the doorstep and the park's natural features - especially the meandering shallow beck - are even more popular with children than our specially designed adventure play areas! Whether you arrive at Park Cliffe with tourer or tent, hire a caravan or camping pod or to enjoy a regular break in your own luxury static caravan or lodge, you'll find a warm welcome from our friendly staff, plus peace, comfort and fresh air aplenty in this most beautiful location - with a range of modern amenities to tempt even the most discerning traveller. Cumbria, of course, offers many places to visit and things to do and Park Cliffe offers the perfect base for exploring this beautiful area.

Nestled in a scenic location, it provides stunning views and proximity to Lake Windermere's attractions. The games room is a hit among children, and while praised for cleanliness, there's a wish for more consistent shop hours. We have just come back from a 7 night stay at the cottage at Park Cliff. The location of the cottage is perfect with a play park and stream directly across the road, and round the back of the cottage there is a huge private garden to sit out in.
Inside the cottage was immaculate and very spacious (there was only me, the wife, and child but the place was big enough for at least a couple more) and it comes with every facility you may need such as dishwasher, hairdryer, washing machine etc...
The main building at Parkcliffe is only a 2 minute walk which again is ideal to pick up the takeaway food or use the shop.
All the staff on site very very helpful and the cleanliness throughout was very reassuring given the current situation.
We shall certainly be back..

We stayed in a family glamping pod at the campsite and it was lovely. It was just me and my partner and the family pod was a good size for 2 of us. A private bathroom was allocated above the normal shower block and was basic but very clean and felt safe. The campsite restaurant does fantastic takeaway food and the shop is handy for getting essentials. Overall really enjoyed the stay and will likely return, thank you.

Thanks so much for this great review and 5 star rating. We're allocating private facilities to all our glamping pod bookings at the minute to help us manage social distancing measures for COVID-19, and similarly our restaurant is only offering takeaway food. Glad you appreciated our efforts and we hope to see you again soon.

This was our first visit we booked two electric pitches which were next to each other.
The site is stunning and the facilities were excellent.
As we were a family the grandchildren loved the freedom and on the Sunday our eldest son and friends came to visit us and we all had a meal in the outside area, the food was good and we also had breakfast on our last day.
The price of food and drinks is in line with the rest of the Lake District
The camp site is in a quite location there is a shop on site which sells the basic things only..

Unfortunately, this nicely kept park was let down by their customer service and reluctance to make amends for their mistake. At the time of booking I confirmed that we could gain access to the lake with a kayak which was the main reason for stopping and agreeing to pay £39 for one night. "Yes but is a bit of a walk down the hill and through another site" said the lady. At the time of check in I confirmed this again although this being a different lady she didn't know and said we could get it at Fell foot failing to mention this had to be prebooked we late discovered. After being disgracefully asked to leave the lower park by security we then spent more time collecting the vehicle and finding somewhere to set off from and having to pay further parking. 2 hours wasted. At departure, the lady that took the booking claimed she couldn't remember and was so reluctant for me to speak with the manageress without me emailing. She even went as far as to say "I shouldn't expect a call over the next week". 2 weeks on and nothing despite me emailing a reply to a request to complete a little review as I didn't want to have to leave this without giving them a third chance. Having travelled the whole coastline of the UK since July this experience has put the lakes at the bottom to revisit as it feels like they just want to fleece you.

When you booked your stay with us, you spoke to my Office Manager who has worked here for more than 15 years and has no recollection of saying it is possible to access the lakeshore from our site "or launch a canoe through a nearby caravan park as this facility is not available to us . The nearby caravan park allows access to use their shop or bistro facilities." There was clearly a misunderstanding and we will probably never agree on the finer detail. We DO NOT have lake frontage at Park Cliffe and make it clear on our website and promotional messages that we are set above Windermere, on "elevated ground", with stunning high level views. A member of "the" team did direct you to Fell Foot park, where you can access the lakeshore. This is owned by the National Trust, and we have no influence over their opening times or security measures, and unfortunately it slipped our mind that pre-booking was necessary due to the COVID-19 pandemic. I understand you then parked at a nearby "car park" and paid £5.50 to park there and access the lake before returning and demanding that the team repay your parking charge, and threatening to leave a negative TripAdvisor review when they politely refused. I haven’t telephoned you because I don’t respond to bullying behaviour. We do ask all our guests to write a review of their experience at Park Cliffe because constructive feedback is important and helps us continually improve our service and facilities. I saw no reason to treat you any differently on this occasion and I am not surprised that you have carried out your threat. Our charges are competitive for the area and standard of park we operate. A touring park with direct lakeshore access would undoubtedly have suited you much better for this visit, but the price of a pitch would have been higher for that convenience.

We booked this site months in advance for my friends hen do, we made sure to make them aware of this. When we arrived we were met with hostility, we do appreciate certain camp sites wouldn’t cater to this kind of booking however having been advised that it was okay and our pitch would be out of the way it was disappointing to feel so unwelcome.
Although we felt disheartened, we agreed to ensure we kept the noise down after the curfew. We spoke with the neighbours and many joined our group and were in agreement with us. We weren’t allowed to use disposable BBQ on the stones, after we made sure we didn’t use the grass. It was pouring with rain but were advised we weren’t able to put up our gazebo and were made to take it down. After 11pm we left the site to ensure we acted respectfully, however were still asked to leave and were not refunded and had to spend the whole next day looking for somewhere else at last minute. We were spoken about disrespectfully when all we did was ensure we did what was asked of us, this was their fault and they treated us terribly. I would not recommend anyone to stay here.

Hi Mollie Thanks for your comments. Obviously we’re disappointed by your 1 star review but understand your frustration over your experience at the weekend. We took your friend’s booking back in March for 3 campervans with 4 adults in each. We didn’t know it was for a hen party and with hindsight we should have more carefully discussed your requirements and expectations for the weekend. We mainly welcome families, couples and singles to Park Cliffe and discourage bookings from larger groups. We have a strict ‘all quiet after 11pm’ rule for the benefit of all our guests. While we appreciate that you thought moving your late night party to a nearby hillside meant you weren’t disturbing anyone else, voices carry across open countryside and we received several complaints from other guests. I dealt with some personally the following morning. After asking you to leave Park Cliffe on Saturday morning, one of our team directed you to a booking website showing availability at other campsites in the area. We have also refunded the full cost of your weekend booking because we agree we should not have accepted your booking in the first place.

A fantastic campsite and brilliant base for exploring the Lakes.
Toilets & bathrooms were all spotless and little shop was convenient for fresh milk, sausages & bread each day.
A pop up trailer served amazing food in an evening and can highly recommend the Tacos, pizzas and burgers!
They even ordered Caribbean style sunshine for our visit :)

Camped with EHU 6 amp supply for 3 nights, helpful reception staff and a quick check in. A lovely chap also came to our tent to offer us a duck board for outside our tent as the rain was sileing down. Gorgeous view from our lovely level pitch which are allocated by tent size. Can’t comment on the non electric field it was on other side. Restaurant wasn’t open but there was a pop up pod for burgers, pizza, ect although not a problem for us as we had everything we needed in our tent. Could possibly be an issue if you are staying in a camping pod with no cooking facilities. Not sure if the shower blocks/toilets were open as we had booked a private bathroom. We probably wouldn’t book one again if communal facilities were open as we prefer a shower. That said, if covid is still causing mixing issues or if you are a family with young kids they would be a godsend. Water is hot and they are clean and warm with a drying rail over the bath and hairdryer. The pot wash area was open sided under a little overhang roof and sink numbers were reduced for guidelines, with a one way system in place, the laundrette was also open. The whole site from what we saw was amazing so clean and well set up, very peaceful. If I was to find a con it would be purely because I like to glamp rather than camp so would like more than a 6 amp supply but that is merely a personal thing and would in no way stop me from hoping to book in there again for our next visit to the lakes.

Thanks for taking the time to leave such a detailed review and rating us 5 stars. Our street food, pop-up vans are on site on Tuesdays and Wednesdays when our restaurant is closed and they've been really popular with guests. Our communal shower and toilet blocks are now open with some social distancing measures in place, and private bathrooms are also available to hire - they are perfect for families, as you say. Glad you enjoyed your stay and we hope to see you again soon.

Great COVID safety, toilet blocks evidently regularly cleaned, felt really safe.

Also gorgeous location and view from our pitch. Would definitely recommend to others and will be returning soon.

The food we ate was great pub style food: big portions.

We have stayed here twice this autumn. Firstly in the Shepards Hut (amazing), then a static caravan (very comfortable and warm) the staff are fabulous, the site is spotless and in a perfect location for exploring the central fells. The takeaway van sells excellent food if you can catch it open. The site has beautiful flowers at the back end of the summer. We have booked the cottage for next week. Glad we discovered this little gem - it can be difficult to book, as there is significant demand so book early.

This is our second time staying at Parkcliffe and again it was brilliant. We booked one of the camping pods which is ideal for anyone who wants a little luxury whilst camping. The pods, bathrooms and site were all very clean and tidy. The site is well kept and the scenery around is stunning. Due to covid 19 each camping pod was assigned a bathroom (i think they are an extra fee normally). This was an added bonus, it made showering and getting ready very easy. The staff are all very friendly and polite and happy to help with any issues. The site is about a ten minute drive out of Bowness and we got a taxi one day which cost £11 one way. The location is ideal for anyone wanting to explore the lake district. I recommend this site to anyone wanting somewhere to camp, i especially recommend one of the lovely pods. We will be returning for sure.
