Due to the pandemic tier 3 restrictions, we had to cancel our trip to Blackpool. We had booked our October stay back in August with Angela on the phone. We initially had tried to book via email in July, but we found that Angela wasn't very responsive. She also provided us with the incorrect payment amount via email (originally quoted as £50, which then changed to £90). After explaining via phone that we had a two day stay voucher but wanted to pay for an additional two nights, we were assured that this was all in the diary. Despite this, we did not receive any confirmation email of any kind, which essentially put me on edge. We called again and this time, Angela sent me a confirmation text. I sent a follow up text requesting confirmation that this included the full four nights, and the response was 'yes???' - so I left it there. Anyway, when we came to cancel our trip, shockingly it turned out that Angela couldn't even find our reservation in the books! We responded by sending her a screen shot of the text conversation - to which we received no reply. I've just written this as a warning to those looking to book here: be sure to call several times in advance to ensure you even have a booking! …
My husband, son and myself stayed here in September this year. There was no actual check in we were just handed our keys and told our room numbers. We were also given a pre-order form for breakfast! Personally I don't like pre-ordering the day before, how do I know how hungry I'll be in the morning or what I'll fancy to eat. Apart from the breakfast forms I didn't like that, other than the hot food, breakfast is a buffet. I didn't think that was allowed at the moment! There was hand sanitiser on the wall as you go in the room but I don't know if anybody was using it. Also although I know that this is a dog friendly B&B I didn't expect guests to bring their dogs to breakfast as well..... When we went out in the morning we left our bedroom windows closed but when we returned they had been opened so we found our rooms cold. There are small fridges and we made use of them for some milk we had bought with us. The problem here was that every night when we returned to our rooms the fridges had been turned off. On the last day I left notes asking for the fridges to be left on. They were left on but had been turned down to the lowest setting so our milk was hardly cold at all. There were tea and coffee etc provided in the room but no decaf coffee, this is a bit of a problem for me as I am sensitive to caffeine, fortunately I had bought some of my own. I have stayed in many hotels and B&B's and this the first one that hasn't done this. Annie is a very friendly and helpful lady but I will not be staying here again.…
What does B&B stand for??? I always thought it was bed and breakfast. WRONG !!! Not at this b&b only if you book direct. If u book through last minute or any of the third parties you won’t get breakfast even when the site says including breakfast, because when you get there the landlady greets you with “ You do know you won’t be getting a breakfast and your payment is non refundable” Not hello or have you had a nice journey etc. No she goes straight for the jugular as soon as you get in.. When you dispute this she says “you’ll have to take it up with them not me, they’re a nightmare they do it all the time” . Which brings me to ask, if they do it all the time why don’t they sort it out or come of the sites ??? Because in our opinion they are onto a good thing!!! They get the bookings off them and wait till you get there and then it’s too late. You either pay £7.50 each extra for a breakfast or do without. Her argument is if I give you breakfast I’m losing out on £15, the price of my rooms booked direct are normally dearer. Well isn’t that the point of last minute.com etc that they sell their rooms with breakfast a bit cheaper rather than have empty rooms ??? Obviously not at this b&b they’ve got a good little earner going there especially if you book non refundable. They know exactly what they are doing because she’s ready for you straightaway with “ it’s non refundable”.. so just be warned!!! There’s no niceties from her, only if you book direct it seems and they’re getting full money.. Photo shows confirmation from the The Golden Sands itself confirming bed and breakfast our telephone number is at the bottom so why do they wait until you get there to tell you different ????…
Angie was a delight to deal with great personality and fantastic host. Excellent value for money and great that our dog was made as welcome as we were.. booked to go back end of july again. Oh the breakfast was great and very tasty. Would highly recommend this great wee find x
What a lovely lady! The proprietor could not have been more accommodating. Room was lovely and breakfast was excellent. We were at the north end very near a team stop, shops and The Gynn pub which was lovely and did nice food.
