I have stayed in several hotels in Blackpool and this is the first one I would love to return to. It feels as if Sharon has thought of everything to ensure a comfortable stay. We were given a warm welcome. The beds were comfy, the rooms were impeccably clean. The addition of blackout blinds meant I had the best night's sleep I've ever had in Blackpool. My 7 year old loved that the TV was a Smart TV so she could watch her favourite programmes on Netflix. We paid extra for breakfast on arrival and enjoyed a full English alongside a mix of cereals and yoghurt. It might have been nice to have the option of fresh fruit, and spreads other than jam, such as marmite, honey or nutella, but this is a minor point. To summarise:

Positives:
Friendly host
Comfy beds
Clean rooms
Black out blinds
Thoughtful touches
Home cooked breakfast
Smart TV
A short walk to the promenade

Negatives:
Noise travels easily (I just brought ear plugs with me and had no problems)
No fresh fruit at brekfast and limited spreads
Steep stairs

All in all, as I said to Sharon, she has absolutley nailed it! The thought put into The Carlton Hotel is evident at every turn. I'm already looking forward to going again and I'm so glad I found this little place.

Location: Location is great, very central and close to all amenities. Minutes walk from the train station and the Black Pool Tower, little further to the pleasure beach.

Hotel: We stayed for 2 nights, which was enough for a short break. As a cheap and cheerful hotel, we wasnt expecting very much. And right we were. Unfortunately the toilet, in one of the three rooms we had booked failed to flush. When we informed the hotel owners, they knew about it but failed to resolve the issue other than acknowledging the fault but never rectified it or help us resolve the issue by providing a bucket to flush with instead. Would we be someone with reduce mobility i dont know what we would have done ? Unfortunately, early morning a fan of some sort outside started up and was rather noisy
Breakfast: Breakfast was okay, it was nothing special or fantastic, you had range of cereals etc to choose from and if you wanted to do, they provided bottle water if you needed one throughout the day. The key to get into the room was a little finicky, in terms of how it was locked, this wasn't explained and once again, if you had reduced mobility it could be an issue !

Overall: It a cheap and cheerful hotel, bed and breakfast without the price tag

I have never in my life done a bad review on anywhere but feel like I need to make people aware of the service from this hotel!! We was ment to arrive at the carlton b and b this fri for a two night stay. SIX days previously I tried to cancel due to both my little boy and elderly mother getting the dreaded Covid (my mum still quiet ill) I asked the manager if I could cancel and he point blanked refused to help...to cancel or reschedule.

I asked him my alternative and he said Nothing so I suggested I came maybe with someone else and he told me he would not let me in. He was rude and confrontational and too be honest I wouldn't want to go to this hotel I'd be scared. I have noticed other reviews like this about this male :( not very good when trying to run a business.

I understand he has to run a business, so I even offered to wait and if he could rebook the room I could get my money back again this was point blanked refused

I am very disappointed not only did I loose all my money but I was shouted at... this will not be the last I will be taking this matter further... oh and he has since not replied to any emails asking for information.

We stayed for 2 nights mid week. The room was small but perfectly appointed. The complimentary room refreshments were plentiful and the room had everything you could need. Breakfast was great, lots of choice of cold or cooked. The hosts were really friendly and welcoming. Good Central location and only a 5 min walk from Central pier and the Tower etc but was still fairly quiet the days we were there. Price was def good value for money. Would happily book here again.

Perfect bank holiday break with the family. Rooms clean with plenty of space. Breakfast was delicious with attention to detail for our youngest daughter - really went the extra mile for her.
So close to access all what Blackpool has to offer - would recommend to any family wanting a clean central base.
Thank you Sharon & Doug

Stayed at the Carleton Hotel for two nights, extremely happy with our stay.
Sharon and Douglas were excellent hosts nothing was a problem for them.

With the really hot weather, they had a fan in the bedroom which was greatly appreciated.

Hotel was spotlessly clean couldn't find any fault with it.

Location was ideal, far enough away from the front and close enough to walk to the front.

Breakfast hit the spot; plenty to choose from, including cereals, juice. Cooked breakfast done to order and to your 👍

Went as a family of 3 a myself, 14 year old daughter and 7 year old daughter staying Friday to Sunday.
We were messaged to say our room was ready early which was lovely but we arrived after check in. We were greeted by Sharon who was lovely, chatted with us and was very friendly. We were advised that due to lack of booking there would not be any breakfast options as the staff had been given the weekend off. Disappointed however easy enough to go to the local weatherspoons to grab something.
The room was beautifully decorated, cleaned and big enough for us. En suite was small but again clean and met our needs.
The walls are paper thin - you can hear every movement, toilet flush and word spoken. We had a rather loud family beneath us which we heard until after 11pm.
We were staying for a competition being held at the Winter Gardens - what an ideal location!
Sadly on the Saturday my daughter nipped back to the room for something and as she had not realised the code for the main door was on the key was spoken to in a rude and abrupt manner by the gentleman of the house (which is mentioned in a few reviews). Completely unnecessary, she’s only a child and was quite taken aback!

On the Sunday check out was 10am, we were out for 0940am. I messaged the mobile that had messaged me to say the room was ready early to see if there was anyway my daughter could use the facilities (just a bathroom) to get dressed for her show at 12.30pm. I received an abrupt response advising that all rooms would be getting cleaned at this point. Hard to believe unless they have a team of 15 going in all at the same time! But it’s not a given that they would accommodate this after we left, would just have been nice!

The hosts are there minimally and we didn’t find them easily accessible if something was needed but this may just be how they work. We haven’t experienced this in other family run b n bs.

Overall a lovely little b n b if you aren’t sensitive to noise and are looking for somewhere close to the winter gardens/main attractions. And possibly don’t mind if breakfast is cancelled even when the b n b is full.

Sadly we wouldn’t stay again given there are so many options nearby for similar prices.

Lovely clean rooms tiny but clean.... rude male host who actually came to the communal room where footy was on quietly and told two 7year olds to be quiet as he was watching the match they were just sitting giggling not running around also breaky was to finish at 9.15 and we were told we could come in then as he had regulars with am autistic child who liked a big space well wow did he care to ask if he told a 7yr old autistic child to shut up while he watched footy . We didnt want breaky at 9.15 why should a child wake up at 7 and be told to wait till 9.15 ... vile customer service all these people want is your money they dont check you out u drop your key in a box so they dont have to face you cos they hide away like what rude people do. We also messaged him at 10.15 one of our nights and asked if we could possibly have 2 teabags and some milk topped up we were ignored and even the next day ignored .. not even a msg to say sorry it was late but do you still need the items .. just ignored .... very rude ignorant people

Myself and my young daughter stayed here Fri 31st July. We live fairly locally but wanted to have a little mummy-daughter day trip with a sleepover. I didn't want to spend a great deal so wasn't expecting much from our stay. I was delighted by The Carlton though! It far exceeded my expectations. The host was lovely and informative. Our room was on the second floor and tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean. Everything was fresh and modern. There was a whole book in the room about the facilities and about Blackpool which was a fantastic touch. The only concern I had was the fact that the window opened so wide and I was paranoid about my daughter suddenly taking up sleepwalking, so I didnt dare have it open at night. Apart from some drunken arguing from the street we slept so soundly (luckily my daughter can sleep through anything so it didn't affect her at all). The bed and pillows were comfortable, the shower had good water pressure and there was a nice little vanity area. Absolutely no complaints.
The front of the hotel was lovely too, with some potted plants adding a nice touch.
The town centre was a couple of mins walk away and the beach front a couple more than that. It was the perfect location.
If we ever want to stay over again we will definitely, definitely be staying here. I very much doubt there's anywhere better for the price.
