What used to be a lovely Hilton hotel has still got the rooms, amenities and everything else but the new owners have cut staffing levels by huge amounts so that in every department you can see the staff struggling because there are not enough of them. Examples are lack of people

Great staff but hotel is somewhat dated. Rooms are clean but general areas showing wear and tear. most disappointing was the £7 per day parking fee, which was 20% of the cost of the room! Breakfast was good but limited choice.

The Hilton had plenty of great staff, good quality food and friendly customer service. Britannia Hotels has slashed the number of trained hotel staff, lowered the quality of food (and the pool temperature!) - but has not lowered proces. Sadly the hotel will not be kept up to standard. It will be like the Norbreck Castle and other Britannia wrecks (Adelphi Liverpool, Pontins Southport......the list is endless). Meanwhile - don't bother complaining......they DO NOT RESPOND.

How many of the original Hilton staff are still working there?
Britannia have ruined what was an excellent hotel. Loved staying ere when it was a Hilton (staff were well trained and really professionally courteous and welcoming). Now it is understaffed with workers who are transient and have no brand loyalty. AVOID staying at the Grand - it will soon be as bad as the Norbeck (another Britannia hovel not hotel). Meanwhile, don't bother complaining - customer service will NOT reply.
