Visited with my granddaughter 4 nights end of August 2020 hotel 10 mins walk from Blackpool North Station follow signs Winter Gardens buildings.,1 min walk to town centre and Houndshill shopping mall. 5 mins to seafront and piers.
This is a 2 star budget bed and beakfast property

Don't expect 5 star its not so people should not comp, lain
The rooms and furniture are dated, the free full breakfast is huge, but if you are vegan or vegetarian no choices. Rooms are clean ,fresh towels and clean bedding daily, the king-size bed and pillows were very comfortable slept like a 👶. The shower cubicle could do with an upgrade, hot water took about 2 mins to get hot ,some one with a large figure would find it a bit of squeeze. You will need to bring your shower gel and toothpaste. Big thanks to Sean he looked after all our needs ,Sean got a electric heater for us as the room was a bit chilly, any queries he sorted he immediatly to sort out. I usually have hot milk with my cereal he made sure for the remainder of my stay I got hot milk.Cases can be left at reception if ear,y check out.The Albert and
The Lion wetherspoon
pub is 10 mins walk next to BlackTower food is nice,The Hive cafe is nearby opposite Savers in town centre, home made food cakes a bit pricey but worth the visit, note last food orders orders at 3 pm as close at 5pm
Will stay at this property when I visit Blackpagain as wonderful staff.

I don't often write reviews, I wanted to write a review for this hotel.
Our party was a family of 5, we booked to stay for one night in a family room including breakfast.

Communication between the hotel and myself prior to arrival was excellent, upon arrival the room was ready on time.

The room was basic, a set of bunk beds, single bed and double bed. Tea/coffee making facilities in the room, towels and soap left on the beds for all of us.

The room was dated and bathroom cramped, each bed had one pillow and thin duvet, the only option for a second pillow was an extremely outdated cushion in the wardrobe, a couple of clean spare pillows would have been a nicer touch.

All the beds in the room were comfy enough.

There was a window in the room with a small top opener, we would of liked to be able to let more air into the room due to the weather being so warm but that wasn't the fault of the hotel.

Our room looked out onto the back of the hotel so no real views of Blackpool but someone has to have those views as we were only here for a night it didn't make any difference to us.

The reception advised that the hotel had entertainment on that evening, advising that children were welcome in the bar area, we arrived back at the hotel for aprox 22:00, we visited the bar area to see the entertainment, returning to our room aprox 22:45. we could hear the entertainment and music from our room but this stopped promptly at 12:00.

Breakfast is served between 08:30-09:30, lovely fresh & clean restaurant area.
Seated to our table and offered a selection of breakfast choices, all arrived well cooked and toast warm.

This hotel is just what you pay for, yes it needs modernising but so do most hotels in Blackpool unless you are paying double what we paid for the room.

Given the hotel advised that it was short staffed, all the staff we encountered were helpful, friendly and wanted to go above and beyond.

We've had a very stressful 18 months with the travel industry hit hard & I think some of the reviews of this hotel are very unfair and not a true reflection of the hard work the staff are putting in.

If you want a 5* hotel experience then this hotel is not for you, if your looking for somewhere cheap and cheery where you will be looked after well as can be by the staff who are able to work with a decent breakfast then this is the hotel for you.

I would return to Melville Hotel.

We stayed there just for one night so we could see the illuminations. The staff was warm and friendly Louise at front of house was great and helpful. The breakfast was lovely the only thing I’d like to see is yogurts but that’s a personal choice. It’s a great location to stay at and near all the attractions the only thing was the main bed was too hard for me but you can see the staff have made a great effort in welcoming you to have a good stay there is a bar which is reasonably priced.

I stayed for a mid week half term get away with a friend and her dog. The hotel looked fantastic from the outside, clean and tidy on the inside though our rooms could do with some TLC but again clean (100% COVID-19 compliant!).
However £100 for 2 adults in separate double rooms with a dog for 3 nights... I really can not complain!!

The staff especially the chef were amazing, super friendly, extremely helpful and helped us both to enjoy a great 3 night much needed get away

Im a vegan and the chef who is a true credit to the business did everything they could to give me a lovely meal, bent over backwards to give me a great full English breakfast and even panicked when they sent a veggie meal to me instead of a vegan meal, scared that it would kill me (wouldn't of killed but would of caused a nasty reaction).

The rooms are 3-4/5 but the staff make it 5/5 hence my star rating.

We'll be back.

We stayed her Sunday 28th-wednesday 31st August.
And we will definitely return. We struggle to find a hotel to fit our family of 5 in 1 room but they managed to accommodate us. We had a family room with a double bed, single bed and a set of bunk beds with room to still breathe too. The hotel breakfast was within the price and was lovely and fresh cooked every morning. All of the hotel staff we met were friendly and helpful from receptionists to cleaners to waiters. Nothing was too much trouble at all for them. The hotel itself is very clean and tidy. We honestly didn't have an issues what so ever with anything. They even let you leave pyur luggage on arrival and departure day sonyou are not carting your luggage round or having to wait till check in to be there to start exploring. And they even emailed us with lots if jnfo including the best and cheapest carpark neatest to hotel for our stay as the hotel has only 3 spaces. The hotel is a few minutes walk to the shopping centre and into Blackpool High Street itself. Not far from the tower, madame tussauds and sea life. And was also one of the cheapest hotels we could find for our family of 5.
It really is a good find and definitely worth looking at for a stay.

Decided to knock on my room door at 22:10pm, failed to introduce himself or anything. I only knew he was a employee or perhaps a manager on a power trip by the lanyard round his neck.
Barely had chance to open the door before he asked m if I was using my bathroom.
Had to ask him why he was asking me this 3 times before he said the person in the room next door had complained complained fan from my bathroom had kept then awake all night.
The fan was only on to use the shower in the morning and if anything it was said rooms pet dog keeping us up!
So rude not to even introduce himself.
Reckoning paranoid manager scared of spending money on bills.

Paid for breakfast and evening meal, used breakfast once which was fine.

Evening meal was poor but OK for the price.

Dining room needs to be more organised though, nonody seemed to have a clue what was going on.

Absolutely no need for blaring music in bar from 3pm. Can understand it on an evening but not what you want for an afternoon pint.

Wouldn't return unfortunately.

The room was clean and tidy. Damaged wardrobe door, no holder for toilet role, which fell in the toilet when towel removed from the towel rack above. The gents toilet on the first floor was left noticeably uncleaned on occasions. The location was perfect for the centre of Blackpool with easy access to the tower, shops Pier etc.
During the evening at the bar room a dog was allowed to wander around the customers and on the seats, being stroked by guests and staff.
The staff were pleasant and helpful but the dinning room was very understaffed. There were no menus and the one time we were offered and filled in a form at breakfast for the evening meal , the staff member serving was unaware of it! When you entered the dining room nobody was around to advise you as to where to sit. When asked you were told to "Just sit anywhere" On occasions this led to people gathering on the stairs_not 2 meters apart! The girl who first was our waitress, Dannielle I think, was great for us but when she wasn't there it was mayhem. I noticed that several people left after waiting a long time to be served.
Disappointing stay.

I am one of a group of people who visit this hotel every year. Any issues that have been raised by our visit have been sorted very quickly by the staff. The hotel may appear dated and in need of some refreshing. However for a budget hotel we have no complaints. Food great and staff always go above and beyond. Clean bedding and fresh towels daily. Although we stay bed and breakfast there is a half board option and also bar meals available. They will even sort out packed lunches for days our or journey home. Very close to all attractions too. If anyone is unsure about staying here I would say do not take notice of the negative reviews book here and make up your own mind.

Just returned from the Melville Hotel. We went with Harry Shaw Travel for a 4 night stay. The hotel is located at the side of the Winter Gardens, which is a great location for accessing the tower etc, just 2 minutes walk and you are in the Hounds hill shopping centre. The hotel has great kerb appeal, being the best presented hotel in the street. The public areas in the hotel are decorated to a decent standard, but some of the furnishings are dated, tired and need replacing. Where this hotel stands out, is the staff. They are friendly, very helpful, and nothing is to much trouble. I would like to mention Jolie who works on reception, waitressing, carries cases (Super Woman) she has a very bubbly personality, and is great asset to the hotel. Liam and Callum work well together, serving in the dinning room. Liam is very caring, and helps people who are unable to walk very well, and is always ready to sought out any problems. Jordan the bar manager was great. "Missing the Happy hour already". The bar prices are very good, and entertainment was provided on every night of are stay. The full english breakfast was great, and portion sizes are good. You did only have a choice of 2 options for all 3 courses of your evening meal, but they were good homemade English dishes. On one night we did not like the 2 dishes, but the chef kindly cooked us something different. There was a handful of people on our coach, who was always moaning about the hotel. You cannot please everyone? Yes the hotel is not perfect, but for a budget hotel in Blackpool, I feel the exceptional staff make it a better choice. Well done everybody, and a big thank you to Shaun who is always willing to help you. I will be returning next year, but don't compare this hotel, to a 5 star hotel, or you will be disappointed.

We have just returned from 3 nights at The Melville hotel and can't wait to return.
The owner and manager are so friendly and the hotel and bedrooms are lovely.
The breakfasts are amazing, my son had lots and said how lovely the food was, well done and thank you Sean!

The location of the Melville is great too...7 min walk from the train station, 1 min to shops, 5 mins to the seafront and piers.

Sean and Toni are just the best at making you feel welcome and I would definitely recommend this hotel.
We will be back soon
Thank you Toni and Sean for a lovely weekend !
