Blackpool has a multitude of places to stay but after staying at the Craig Y Don I think this will be our go to accommodation for visits to Blackpool. The hotel is a basic Blackpool hotel but what makes it shine is the cleanliness, facilities and the can't do enough for you staff! I visited in a party of 3 with a bus load of friends and on arrival I had to ask for a lot of additional pillows due to a spinal condition and they were swiftly taken to our room. The room was on the first floor but there was a lift. It was spotless and was cleaned daily. The bathroom had a mini shower over a bath, which was hard to access, but not a deal breaker. I was worried about the beds due to my spinal condition but shouldn't have worried as they were comfortable enough for our 3 night stay. We had a room at the rear of the building, which at times could be noisy, but it is Blackpool. The hotel location is central for walking to both ends of the boulevard which was great and our package included tram tickets which was even better for exploring or the trip back to the hotel after wandering to far on foot. The breakfast and dinner buffet that the hotel provided was excellent value and very much enjoyed by our party. There was the usual full breakfast in the morning and a choice of 2 options in the evening with a flexibility from kitchen staff to accommodate children and people with dietary needs. The evening caberet entertainment was fantastic, with very talented singers, who sang songs that every generation enjoyed, (I would have liked to have heard some up-to-date songs though too). I even got into the spirit of bingo and enjoyed the in house games of a night and the quiz. The best sell of this hotel is it's staff. On our stay we couldn't help but notice that customer service throughout Blackpool is very poor, but Craig Y Don have excelled in training/choosing staff who's customer service is first class and who look happy within their place of work. Due to all these factors and having a fandabbydozy weekend it has made me book up for next year and akso bring my granddaughter, so I look forward to seeing you all again.
One thing I could suggest is that there is information on where to withdraw money from free cash machines within the hotel. We were only informed of a free machine just around the corner from the hotel on our last day. Which ment the banks received a tenner from me through out my stay which could have been spent in the Craig Y Don bar! 😁

We booked online, but because of the coronavirus pandemic, we could quite easily have walked in and received an equally competitive rate.

The room was clean and tidy and though not big, it was spacious enough for us. It had a TV on the wall opposite the bed and a kettle with teas and coffees provided. The cups were only small; we would have preferred mugs.

The room also had a very good electric shower.

Breakfast was very good; a full English is available, as well as cereals, toast, fruit juice and tea and coffee.

The staff were friendly and helpful.

The hotel is situated centrally and is only a 15 minute stroll from Blackpool Tower along the seafront.

Stayed for 2 nights, fri till sun,, stayed here numerous times before, but sadly will not be returning. Tv in room did not work at all, had no where to move us to, so that was that. Shower in room was totally inadequate, couldnt position shower head, only tiny bit water came out, had to hold shower head in hand to get a wash. Breakfast gone downhill, tastes like very cheap products,, 1 slice toast each, nothing to write home about, might sound petty, but always look forward to brekkie on holiday,, didnt go down for it on second morning, ate out. Ive been informed of other hotels that are good, so will be trying out them, shame really, used to always rave about craig y don.

Dear guest we are sorry you didn't enjoy your stay and hope you will reconsider staying with us again. With reference to the TV it was working on your arrival but you tried to switch it over to cable and disrupted all the settings and we were unable to get an engineer out until Monday. We were not aware that the shower needed adjusting or we could have sent a housekeeper to your room to adjust it for you. We can assure you that we are using the exact same suppliers as always and I'm sure you can appreciate that we can't allow guests to serve their own food as before the pandemic, a member of staff puts the food on the plate after the guest has chosen what they want from the hot servery. If you wanted more than one slice of bread that would have not been a problem to give you more. Hotel stays as visits to shops and restaurants are not the same and we have had to implement many procedures to ensure the safety of our guests.

We stayed here for 7 nights and had a brilliant stay. The hotel is clean and food is nice always a great choice available. All staff are lovely and my son loved the dining staff who was always chatting away to him. When we arrived we got given a room with a shower, my son is terrified of showers and the reception staff sorted it out and changed us rooms to one that had a a bath which we are very grateful for. We had such a fantastic holiday that we booked another 2 before we left. We will be coming back down again to the Craig y Don end of September to see the illuminations and again in July 2022. Thank you again for a great stay see you all again soon Craig y Don from the Canavan family.

Booked two nights for myself and my sister. On arrival we received a jolly friendly welcome and were assisted to carry our bags.

Slightly early for the 3pm check in we sampled the bar menu. Toasties, scampi, burgers and so on for just £4.50. We chose toasties and not only were they fresh and hot but they were appealingly served in a basket with a plentiful amount of Seabrooks crisps.

The main lounge areas are very clean and furnished with comfortable upholstered chairs and solid tables in a lovely colour palette.

The view is amazing within a stone's throw of the beach.

We were blessed with beautiful sunshine so a pint of Stella went down very well and was reasonably priced.

We were allocated rooms 70 and 83. I was lucky enough to get room 83. A double room with sea view on the third floor. My sister got room 70. A single on the second floor.

The rooms are spotlessly clean and uniformly decorated. There is a desk with mirror and beverage station well stocked with tea bags and coffee sachets.

Beds have crisp white sheets with heavyweight cotton duvet cover and decorative cushion and throw.

We were pleasantly surprised to find a bath with shower in both rooms. Grouting was lovely and white with no mould whatsoever.

We tried the three course evening meal option which was £12. A limited choice but this meant it was hot, fresh and tasty. Desserts were delicious with a choice of three cakes, fruit salad or sticky toffee pudding. Very enjoyable.

The evening entertainment was great with an excellent singer at 9pm and in house entertainment. The atmosphere was relaxed and upbeat and made you feel like you were abroad.

After a bath and great night's sleep we enjoyed a hearty breakfast. Fresh orange juice with tea/coffee, a good choice of branded cereals and an excellent hot choice.

The location of the hotel cannot be beaten. The central pier is five minutes leisurely walk and a number of bars and cafes within a couple of minutes stroll.

Special mention to Neil, Michael and Keith who went the extra mile. All staff are proficient and appear happy in their work.

We intend to book again soon and I would recommend highly to couples and families.

Just returned from a weekend stay at the Craig-y-Don and will be returning again next year. What can I say the whole weekend was fab from start to finish.
Rooms: We were a party for 3 and were given a room which had 3 single beds in it, this was great as I was worried about sharing with my 10 year old who likes to starfish in the bed. Room was clean and tidy and beds were fab to sleep in. Room was on the side end of the building so it got a little noisy outside but that is to be expected its Blackpool. Bathroom had a bath inside with a shower head, not great but workable and enough to get a wash, my preference is showers but that's me.
Food: Meals were so nice and buffet breakfast each morning with everything you could need, they even made me scrambled egg on my last morning. Dinners were also buffet style and were so nice 2 choices each night and also the option of salads or a kids menu so should cater to everyone's needs. Also each meal was 3 courses so lots of food to eat.
Staff: This is where the hotel excels there staff team are amazing, nothing is too much bother to them from us asking for additional pillows to different meals at dinner time. All the dining room staff were fantastic, infact all the staff were polite and friendly and always had a smile.
Entertainment: The evening entertainment was what was expected from a hotel, bingo, quizzes and then live singing. A lovely night was had by all. :)
Location: The hotel is placed in a great location really near the central pier and the shops, however we received free bus passes with our break so we were able to travel about the place at no additional cost.

Will definitely be returning and hope to see everyone soon. :)

Spent a brilliant 3 nights at this hotel. Rooms are spotless (albeit ours was very small but we did get last room available) The lounge area is lovely and big enough to accommodate all guests for the evening entertainment, which is on every night. Meals are good value for money, we had breakfast only but did opt to have evening meal on the first night which was lovely. Dining room is well organised and all covid measures followed. Last but not least the bar staff are all so hard working, accommodating and friendly - Shane, Michael, Annalise and Nick all go out of their way to look after you. I would definitely come back again

Just another amazing stay in this friendly hotel. Well they truly gave us a fab weekend all covid restrictions in place seats and tables being sanatized down in the bar area by the night bar man. Food again was amazing and plenty of choice staff in the dining room are all so friendly helpful and can not do enough for you especially Paula. Neil up to his normal antics and keeping everyone amused with his new game show (Which i Won) haha. The rooms are so clean and beds are so comfy we had sea view room again which is great and an added bonus the illumination lights were on. The entertainment again was brilliant and the bingo good (which i won that too) haha a good weekend was had by all. As i have said before i would not have any hesitation to recommened the Craig y don to friends and relatives. It is like home from home and you are make to feel so welcome. Well done to you all.
