I just visited this hotel with my wife, and we had a very nice weekend. The hotel room was a decent size, and was absolutely spotless. The staff were super friendly, and couldn't have been more helpful. The food, breakfast and evening meal in our case was very good, and we had no complaints. the restaurant staff were also very friendly, pleasant and efficient, and they were very careful to wear their face masks, and clean every table thoroughly after use. The evening entertainment comprised of 2 sessions of bingo, one before the first session of video entertainment (due to regulations, no live entertainment was allowed anywhere at this time), then the second bingo session, followed by the 2nd entertainment video. It was obvious how much everyone enjoyed the evening entertainment. Bar prices are very good, and all of the spirits are named brands, and you have the option of upgrading to all inclusive for an extra £20 per day. for this you get a lunch, free bar for all but bottled beers, plus the first session of bingo free, which would normally cost £5. I don't drink much, but if you like a drink, it is a no brainer. I'm actually not a big fan of Blackpool, and this was my first time back there for 15-20 years, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. We booked our break through Blackpool promotions. It cost £129 for 3 DBB, plus a free Blackpool travel pass, which gives free all day travel on the trams and buses, plus you are collected from your preferred uplift point in Scotland, and bussed to the hotel and back for that price. give it a try.

The hotel has been recently refurbished and was bright and spotless with a good size bathroom and power shower, comfortable beds and coffee/tea facilities as well as free wifi and TV. Check-in was seamless and all the extras like 3 day bus/tram pass and inclusive drinks were very welcome. The food was exceptional and most impressive - delicious 3 course meals each evening with choices for everyone, cooked breakfast and lunch of home made soup and/or fresh sandwiches and cake. Drinks served at table in the bar/entertainment area or on the terrace overlooking the sea . The staff were great despite being kept very busy at all times and it was wonderful that most of these were young local people learning their trade from the more senior and fantastically experienced local staff. The inclusive entertainment was brilliant, especially the 'Neil Sedaka' show and bingo twice nightly added to the fun - especially when my daughter won the top prize! The ambiance in the hotel was great with a predominantly Scottish clientele which always adds to the fun atmosphere. Social distancing was in place as much as possible and hygiene was good.

We came here just for one night to escape the madness of covid-19 , as we have worked through the Pandemic and needed a break we arrived early and our room was ready we checked in and found our room to be small but compact and very clean and modern. We were given a form at reception to book a 3 course evening meal for £12 each we did this and found it lovely friendly waitresses and food was gorgeous we spent the night in the hotel as the bar prices were very good £5.55 for a pint of cider and a Bacardi and coke , there was bingo on a quiz and 2 caberet acts on a projector screen as obviously were still in this Pandemic, we found people observed the social distancing with tables 2 meteres apart that was in the social areas and dining room . All precautions were in place and most staff wore some sort of covering if they were near people, we felt completely relaxed and thoroughly enjoyed it. We found who we think was a manager he walked around all night and made sure everyone was ok thought that was very professional. We didn't sleep very well however this was due to residents being loud and smoking at the front door no consideration in lowering there voice as people are in bed and our bedroom was at the front this is not the hotel's fault but a word would of been appreciated at music was still loud at 2.30 am from somewhere, our only feedback would be a information pack in our room would of been great we didn't know what times breakfast was what was on the menu etc we didn't know about the all inclusive drink package we would of purchased at check Inn had we off known or anything going on etc but a very good stay we will definitely be back thankyou to all the staff keep working hard from us both x

Dear claire62Merseyside, Thank you so much for the excellent five star review on your recent stay with us. We are thrilled you had such an enjoyable holiday. Thank you for the great feedback, it really is wonderful to learn you enjoyed all aspects of your stay from our lovely clean and comfortable rooms, excellent food and great entertainment. We do apologise for the noise issue relating to guests at the front door, we do have night staff available whom - if notified of the noise disturbance would have kindly spoken to the offending parties and asked to keep noise levels to a minimum. In regards to our upgrade to all inclusive, we are sorry you were not made aware of this - the team do usually notify all guests on arrival of this upgrade option. All in all it is wonderful you had a great stay with us and we will look forward to seeing you again in the future, best wishes from the team GUEST RELATIONS

Warm greeting on arrival, Used small lift to go to room, Corridor was very squeaky, while I accept this is an old buildings, other properties can fix this. Opening door and first impression was of a tattily hung curtain certainly not able to blank out daylight no matter how I tried.

Noticed an absence of things normally found in rooms in the 2020's, no hairdryer, no room safe, no iron, no phone, no guest information pack and only two very small pieces of soap, no other toiletries such as shampoo, conditioner, shower gel etc. Went to reception which informed us that no other toiletries provided but we could borrow an iron and hairdryer but not at the moment as they had all been lent out.

Went to the bar which only served house brand draught lager and bitter despite signage outside advertising Carlsburg and John Smiths. A lot of guests are on all inclusive to guess this is how they keep costs down. Signage says contactless payment is prefered option but was cash only for under £5 transactions.

Later went for a shower and battled to get right temperature on old bath/shower arrangement, got temperature right out of bath tap but when activated shower plunger it went cold. Eventually got it right then tried to dry myself with the cheap thin towels provided.

Evening entertainment post Covid was limited but fine with 2 games of bingo. First game did not pay out much as it appears all inclusive guests get a free sheet but the prize money is based on cash taken so it is not the company which is paying for those on all inclusive but fellow guests.

Breakfast service was polite and friendly and English Breakfast was served vert quickly and I suspect is not cooked to order. Quality was OK if a bit tepid. On last day had to queue not because of lack of tables but because of shortage of staff to lay them,

Housekeeping was not up to much, a long hair was found in a drawer, drink glasses from the night before were not removed and the floor was not hovered, spots of white paper were there for all our stay.

Location is a bit out of town and post lockdown Blackpool Transport have taken it upon themselves to stop the trams from the centre at 6:45 PM.

A coach party arrived during our stay and there was no attempt to maintain social distancing.

Finally found in the small print of my booking form that checkout is !0 in the morning not the usual 12 or even 11.

Dear philfromliverpool, Thank you for your review. We are sorry the Royal Boston did not meet your expectations. The Royal Boston is usually extremely popular with our guests and receives excellent feedback on a regular basis on Tripadvisor. With regards to room amenities, these are outlined on our hotel website. Hair dryers and irons can be obtained from reception as and when required as stated. We do have amply supply so we are unsure as to why stock had depleted however i am sure the team would have happily brought one up to your room if required once one became available. Please accept our apologies. In reference to branded lager, the signage which you state advertising premium beers is a vintage sign from many years ago which is very old, this was underneath our updated sign which was taken off for repairs. We are sorry for any confusion however i believe our bar tender kindly explained this to you at the time. The All inclusive package is optional and we still have a fully stocked bar of premium beverages. We are sorry to hear of the issues with the Shower, once again should you have kindly made the team aware of this - we would have had our onsite maintenance team investigate the issue. Entertainment in the hotels at present is in the form of a resident host / compere, cash bingo each evening and a pre recorded live performance of one of our fabulous cabaret entertainers recorded LIVE at Blackpool's North Pier and displayed on a cinema projector screen. Our normal entertainment schedule and excellent live cabaret is scheduled to resume once government guidelines are relaxed and indoor live performance is allowed. We do kindly state on our website that should we not be able to provide live cabaret, we may substitute with the next best thing which may be in the form of pre recorded live performances on a cinema screen in our cabaret bar. For reference here is a copy of the text outlined on the website: Thank you for the comments on our breakfast, we are happy you found service to be enjoyable. Thank you for the feedback on quality - guest feedback is incredibly important to us. In regards to housekeeping, we ask once again that any issues are reported directly to reception so they can be resolved there and then, we sincerely apologise for the room cleanliness matters. Please note however, due to the current situation with COVID, and our measures in place - guests must display the room ready to be serviced signage on the door for housekeeping. And should any guest require additional linen or fresh linen / towels, please speak with reception. Guest rooms are only thoroughly deep cleaned on departure. In reference to the tram services, these have now fully resumed with trams operating every 20 minutes. Please be assured that our COVID measures are some of the most secure in the resort, staff wear PPE and constantly police the public areas to ensure guidelines are being adhered to. Tables are fully spaced in our entertainment areas to maintain social distancing. Should any guest have any concerns at all, please raise with management at the time. Checkout is 10am at many large chain hotels across the UK, however we are sorry this was not to your satisfaction at this time. We do hope you will choose Royal Hotels again for a future break to the resort. Best wishes and thank you once again for your feedback. GUEST RELATIONS

First time staying at the Royal Boston and not the last. Everything from arrival with the manager being outside advising where best to park if not using the car during our stay to departure couldn't be faulted, with a special mention for all the staff from reception, bar, dining room, cleaners and the hands on managers who also walk around the evening entertainment room checking everyone is ok as well a mucking in where needed. We opted for the Go Inclusive(Club 66) package and the food in the restaurant breakfast, dinner & tea all very good choice and quality with nothing being too much trouble if anything needed changing, and there was no shortage of waitresses/waiters buzzing round so never more than a minutes wait for someone to check if you where ready for your next course. The all inclusive bar was a decent selection with a draught Cider, Lager, & Bitter plus branded spirits and your mixers/soft drinks and tea/coffee so something for all tastes, plus a small upgrade price for anything else on at the bar. Entertainment was great with 2 acts each evening and a different compere keeping the night ticking over.
Will be returning in the near future for sure, and staying here at the Royal Boston from now on each time over the other 2 hotels we had alternated between.

Thanks
John & Ann(Mum)

We arrived on the 20th aug till 22nd aug. On arrival it looked nice clean and pleasant until we got to are room we stayed in room 217 it was small and bathroom didnt look to clever, bathboard was not on proper and looked grubby and dusty in there. Wen we went down for breakfast we were showed to a table that was not made it had to be done while we was sat there. It had no butter/jams or milk on the table we had to ask for everything and by time things were brought to us everything was cold (drinks and toast) but what made the whole experience terrible was my partner had his brand new and expensive t-shirt taken from the room we stayed in. When reported to reception i was told i would recieve a phone call regarding this but never did i had to ring on 3 seperate occasions to be told they would ring back in the end i rang again asking to speak to the manager but he was not in at the time he did eventualy ring me back but was not useful at all askin if i had proof it had been taken and how did i know it had been taken to which this has still not been resolved. I believe this to be a very untrustworthy establishment. I find it very uosetting to know belongings got taken out of a room we paid to stay in and which they should be safe in considering we were the only 1s to have a key to the room and we made sure are door was always shut properly when we went out

Dear 28011986, Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry you were not fully satisfied with your recent break at the Royal Boston. In reference to your room, we are sad to learn this did not meet your expectations, We do kindly ask that any issues are mentioned to management immediately so they can be rectified there and then to ensure a more pleasurable stay. Another more suitable room may have been offered subject to availability. The team will always go above and beyond for guests, however notifying us after your stay does not give us / management at the hotel the opportunity to make right, Room cleanliness matters are extremely rare for the Royal Boston as we do pride ourselves on a wonderful level of cleanliness, however should you have made the team aware of the matters at reception, we would have had our housekeeping team tend to the issues immediately for you. With regards to breakfast time, as we are currently in the height of season here in Blackpool, we are incredible busy so the team would have tried to get you seated and served as quickly as possible. I am sorry to learn the toast and items were a little cold after waiting for your items, once again we kindly ask that any issues are brought to the attention of our restaurant staff, replacement dishes / alternatives would have been offered immediately. In regards to your missing item, our housekeeping team who serviced your room have worked for us for a very long time so we do not have any reason to question their integrity however please be assured we take matters of theft extremely seriously and should you have wished to notify the police regarding the matter we would co operate in any way we could. Our reputation speaks for itself, we have an incredible team of hard working, friendly professional staff who always give 110%, as reflected in wonderful TripAdvisor reviews and guest feedback, we also received the Tripadvisor Travellers Choice Award 2021, we have never been accused as being un trustworthy previously, so we feel this comment to be very unfair. Where do I start was there with my son and grandson. The room no 202 was hit and miss with the room service. The dinning room looks more like a cafe than a restaurant a small plate with salt and pepper on it , a knife fork and spoon you had to butter your bread roll with no side plate then eat your main meal with the same knife. Table cloths just turned over from the previous meal times. Waiteress duster crumbs with her hand straight onto the floor it was dirty. The was was not that good dont go for mac and cheese it was a solid mess. The compare should not be on stage where children are after making a coment saying he was known as a cock in a dress. Left pages of complaints not heard a word its like tje management are not bothered if people return or not after going b b & em then upgrading to AI never again we had to eat out most of the time this was at our cost the AI doesnt start till 12 dinner and check out days not untill 3 pm and over for 10 we are really upset by oyr experence

Dear 919audreyb, Thank you for your review. Firstly - with regards to your complaint - please note, we do take formal complaints extremely seriously - we do aim to deal with complaints within 14 days once a thorough investigation has been conducted - so i will be in touch in due course once this is complete. In reference to the issues outlined in your review please see my observations below: The Royal Boston is extremely popular and receives wonderful feedback on a regular basis for many returning guests due to the excellent service, wonderful food and superb live entertainment on offer. The hotel was also recently awarded the TripAdvisor Travellers Choice Award 2021. In reference to your room, we are sorry to learn this was not to your expectations - our cleaning teams 'tidy' rooms on a daily basis, this means a quick tidy of all areas, wipe down of surfaces, emptying of bins in the room and changing of linen if required. Deep cleans are done on Mondays and Fridays. Should you require anything else we do kindly ask that you speak with reception who would have had our housekeeping team tend to your room if required. Our restaurant gains fantastic feedback daily - and is well known for it's fantastic cleanliness, superb food and excellent service. We do apologise for the issue surrounding your cutlery however should you have requested another knife and fork, this would have been arranged immediately. Table cloths are cleaned and changed regularly - however please understand, due to the current situation guests have their own tables throughout their stay, and it is not neither good for the environment nor financially viable to change table cloths after each and every sitting however if fresh linen is required, as with your room - please make a team member aware and this would be done immediately. In reference to the Macaroni Cheese, we are sorry this was not to your taste - our teams will always do everything they can to ensure a pleasurable dining experience and should you have made them aware, would have arranged a replacement or suitable alternative. With reference to all inclusive timings - this is clearly stated on your welcome letter and confirmation and all guests are fully made aware of the timings on check in at the hotel. Thanks once again for the review and we hope you will choose us again in the future. GUEST RELATIONS

Just back from a 3 night stay at the royal boston, we had 3 rooms 322,210,309. Let's start with the poor points 1st 210 room not even cleaned or bed changed that was at 5pm my sons partner went down to reception she told them about the state of the room it took them till 7.45 to do something about it not a very good start. Room 322 never got cleaned in the 3days we were there same with room 309 just changed the towels. Car park we paid £30 to park in a reserved place what a load of carbage that was each time we moved somebody else took it nothing done about that. Food not the best I dont think anyone of are party enjoyed it. The nightime entertainment was very good could not fault it. I think the management should get to grips with these issues because the young lady at time the didn't seem to be bothered . Wont be going back or recommending this place to anybody. We stayed all inclusive 12 till 10pm they even charged me for a bottle of water£1 what a joke. T.Haughton

Dear Trevor H, Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback. We are sorry to hear you are not fully satisfied with your break at the Royal Boston. In reference to your room - rooms are deep cleaned on a Monday and Friday with all linen changed, all surfaces wiped down, carpets hoovered, bins changed, replenishment of tea and coffee, bathrooms thoroughly cleaned. However on standard days, rooms are simply tidied - this means beds tidied, bins changed and a quick wipe down of surfaces with tea and coffee replenished. Should you require fresh linen we kindly ask you mention this to our reception who would ensure this was done for you immediately. - we do hope this clears up your question. In reference to car park, all spaces are reserved and guests are given a bay number - which should be used throughout the guests time. Guests are also given a card to display in the window. The food in the Royal Boston has received fantastic feedback from guests since opening and scores very highly on our guest feedback forms. From the previous week, with over 90+ guests on dinner - the majority all enjoyed the food and rated it excellent. Should you not be satisfied with any particular dish, please speak with a member of the team who will kindly arrange a replacement. Thank you for the comments on our entertainment, we are very pleased you found this to be of excellent standard. In regards to our all inclusive - this is our most common package, timings are clearly displayed on your correspondence and all guests are made aware of timings on arrival. Premium bottled water is not included in the package and therefore subject to an upgrade fee of £1. All of the included drinks are clearly displayed on the all inclusive advert and also listed at the bar.

We stayed at the Royal Boston for a last minute weekend trip since we have been lockdown for several months. We had a great time over the two days. First of all when arriving, we saw that parking was a bit limited but that was no problem as there was plenty on the side roads.
When arriving, I realised I made a mistake of only booking for one person in the double room rather than 2 but the incredibly helpful staff were on hand to quickly rectify this.
The rooms were lovely and clean with a comfortable bed and nice bathroom finished in matt black colour. Despite being on the Promenade, the rooms were quiet and well ventilated. The sea view was also impressive.
The hotel is a bit of a walk from the main attractions but I didn't mind that as the weather was fine. If you don't fancy walking, you can get the tram or bus which is like a 5 min journey.
Entertainment was pretty good with bingo and quizzes of the evening. The staff did a great job despite the COVID circumstances. Plenty of selection from the bar too with really good prices for a hotel.
Breakfast was nice and quick but could have been a bit larger in portion size.

Overall I highly recommend this hotel for anyone wanting to stay in Blackpool. It has everything you need at a great price and superb customer service!

Response from James B, General Manager at The Royal Boston Hotel
Responded 28 Jul 2020
Dear ashleyfish, Thank you for your superb five star review. We are so pleased to learn you had such a wonderful stay with us at the Royal Boston Hotel. In reference to the car parking, as stated we do offer free onsite parking however unfortunately this is limited due to spaces however there is ample on street parking towards the side of the hotel We are very happy to learn that following the slight issue with the double room, our team managed to sort the booking for the additional person. It is also great you found your room to be very clean and comfortable, this means so much to us. As you say yourself, we are located on Queens promenade, just a little further up from Gynn Square on the quieter end of the promenade however with the tram stop located just over the road from us - it is ideal with a short 10 minute journey to Town. Thank you for the very kind words on our entertainment, we really worked hard to try and deliver some form of excellent entertainment and sit in line with the current guidelines. We are pleased to say however that from the 1st August our usual entertainment schedule resumes. It is also wonderful you enjoyed the excellent food on offer here at the hotel, we will pass on your lovely comments to the chef and restaurant team. Thank you for the very kind recommendation, it means the world to us. Please do come and visit again soon. From myself and the team, best wishes GUEST RELATIONS

Back for the second visit this year, this time with the extended family, 6 adults and 2 kids varying in ages from 8 to almost 80! As expected the Boston excelled once again. The team here really go the extra mile to try and ensure you have the best holiday but are constrained by the layout and lack of maintenance given the age of the hotel. The entertainment team had something for everyone and the stand out acts for us was Caine Ward and Paul Mac, "Freddy Mercury" and "Tom Jones" (The kids are convinced they are the real ones). The restaurant team, although short-staffed, kept cheery and served up the lovely food which the kitchen staff should be commended on the presentation and thoughtful menu choices. One wee gripe from me is we no longer get a tea/coffee served with the evening meal which I missed as don't really like the long life milk served with the coffee at the bar. The bar staff Daryl and co certainly were kept busy with us but always have a bit of banter. Karen and the Reception team had a lot to contend with this time as we had a number of issues during the week not helped by both lifts breaking down. One of our party is a wheelchair user but has limited mobility so we needed to change rooms which was done with the minimum of fuss but is a concern as the lifts had also broke on our last visit. The cleaning team were also outstanding but do feel that having new towels everyday probably isn't too environmental friendly. Overall though we had a ball and know we will be back soon. A BIG thank you to all the hotel team for making another holiday special.
