This is a stunning building well placed in the centre of the city.
We were greeted by a pleasant doorman and then offered a glass of bubbly or orange juice in the hallway. Our party of 40+ were to be seated in the downstairs room next to the bar. Place names had been provided with meal choices on them. We would take these and place them where we wished to be sat on the large round tables (nice idea for both guests and staff serving food).
The room was beautiful and nicely decorated. Nice to have table centres that didn’t totally obscure the opposite side of the table. Lovely table linen; place settings had crackers added.
We had a quick look upstairs at the ballroom which was gorgeous, but it would have been way too big for our party. We had been offered this on booking, and were glad with our decision on the lounge downstairs.
The bar area was a little tight with the usual bar leaners standing chatting. Glad there was not an additional party at the same time or it would have been difficult to move in there. Service though was prompt and very pleasant.
The meals were served swiftly and without fuss. Wine we had purchased was placed on the tables. The food was delicious and good portion size. Lovely to have mince pies and coffees afterwards too.
There was music playing, but not too loud it interrupted people talking and it was quickly turned down when speeches were made.
All in all a very beautiful building which caters very well for large parties. Would highly recommend.
The ballroom is such a beautiful place and because of that you really don't need much decor adding to it. You also get exclusivity to the whole venue which is a good thing too.
City rooms were so good with us during having to keep postponing due to Covid-19 and were so patient with us. We are so glad that we chose to have our reception here. For anyone thinking about having any do's here please look no further, A discounted car parking offer is also given close by. You also have their new hotel just down the road on market street which you can get your guests on a deal basis.
Many thanks again City Rooms :-) we hope to be back there at some point again in the future.

Our guests were wowed not only with the venue but also with the food. Even a month later we are receiving calls from guests saying what a perfect day it was with the food being the icing on the cake. Rishi really is a talented chef.
Sandy, you and your team at Cityrooms are amazing. Keep up the good work!!
I had an email to ask to email back to let them know checkin time but it doesn’t recognise the email when you message back.Tried phoning a number of times but couldn’t get through.
Finally got through to somebody who had to get someone to move their vehicle to fit us in the very small car park.
Checked in quickly after that but had to go back to the car to get my suitcase in but was then told I would have to go around the front of the hotel.
Stayed in a room quite high up in the building but this wouldn’t be suitable for every one as there was no lift.
The building itself was beautiful and my room was very spacious and beautiful with a huge bathroom and cosy fire places in the bedroom and the bathroom!
Unfortunately the cleanliness wasn’t there.
There were hairs in the bed, bits all over the bathroom floor, blood around the toilet and on the back of the door.
There was random logs on each side of the window to rest the window on if you wanted it open.
The shaver point in the bathroom was upside down.
It was a shame really as the room had such character but lacking in cleanliness.
Great location in the centre of the city and the beautiful red clock tower was seen out the window
The wedding should have taken place at this venue in November 2020 but like so many others was postponed due to Covid 19, however the City Rooms were great and the date was simply moved to this November, no problem at all.
This is a beautiful elegant venue, a real oasis tucked away right in the centre of Leicester. The only negative is the restricted on site parking, the City Rooms car park is very small so you would be wise to use the nearby NCP car park which offers a discount to City Rooms guests.
My daughter and son in law booked one of the wedding packages which came complete with the discretionary use of the four boutique bedrooms which we and other members of the family took welcome advantage of, so nice to be able just to pop upstairs at the end of such a long busy and exciting day. When you book a wedding package you get exclusive use of the whole building which is great.
The menus for both the wedding breakfast and evening reception were delicious and plentiful with all dietary requirements well catered for.
The staff have been excellent throughout all the preparations and on the day itself. We can't thank them enough for making our daughter and son in law's day so special. It couldn't have gone better!
