Visited the City Rooms for the first time for a Christmas meal.

This is a stunning building well placed in the centre of the city.

We were greeted by a pleasant doorman and then offered a glass of bubbly or orange juice in the hallway. Our party of 40+ were to be seated in the downstairs room next to the bar. Place names had been provided with meal choices on them. We would take these and place them where we wished to be sat on the large round tables (nice idea for both guests and staff serving food).

The room was beautiful and nicely decorated. Nice to have table centres that didn’t totally obscure the opposite side of the table. Lovely table linen; place settings had crackers added.

We had a quick look upstairs at the ballroom which was gorgeous, but it would have been way too big for our party. We had been offered this on booking, and were glad with our decision on the lounge downstairs.

The bar area was a little tight with the usual bar leaners standing chatting. Glad there was not an additional party at the same time or it would have been difficult to move in there. Service though was prompt and very pleasant.

The meals were served swiftly and without fuss. Wine we had purchased was placed on the tables. The food was delicious and good portion size. Lovely to have mince pies and coffees afterwards too.

There was music playing, but not too loud it interrupted people talking and it was quickly turned down when speeches were made.

All in all a very beautiful building which caters very well for large parties. Would highly recommend.

We had our wedding @ The City Rooms in June 2022 and both Sandy, Georgia and the team were amazing. They did us proud. Everything down to the decor and the organisation on the day was top class. We had many fantastic comments about the food so a shout out goes to the City Rooms in house chef and also Jason the resident DJ too.
The ballroom is such a beautiful place and because of that you really don't need much decor adding to it. You also get exclusivity to the whole venue which is a good thing too.
City rooms were so good with us during having to keep postponing due to Covid-19 and were so patient with us. We are so glad that we chose to have our reception here. For anyone thinking about having any do's here please look no further, A discounted car parking offer is also given close by. You also have their new hotel just down the road on market street which you can get your guests on a deal basis.

Many thanks again City Rooms :-) we hope to be back there at some point again in the future.

We chose Cityrooms after having to cancel our girls wedding multiple times during the pandemic. We chose Cityrooms not only because of its beauty but the customer service we received from Sandy . Sandy was extremely patient with us and answered all of our questions and concerns before we went ahead with the booking. As we were uncertain of numbers she drew up two contracts for us for lesser numbers and then full capacity. At no point were we pressurised for payments. Infact we only paid fully a week before the wedding when the government made the announcement and we knew exactly how many people we could invite.
Our guests were wowed not only with the venue but also with the food. Even a month later we are receiving calls from guests saying what a perfect day it was with the food being the icing on the cake. Rishi really is a talented chef.
Sandy, you and your team at Cityrooms are amazing. Keep up the good work!!

Check in isn’t great, spent some time outside the gate trying to get in the car park, phoned a number of times but couldn’t get through.
I had an email to ask to email back to let them know checkin time but it doesn’t recognise the email when you message back.Tried phoning a number of times but couldn’t get through.
Finally got through to somebody who had to get someone to move their vehicle to fit us in the very small car park.
Checked in quickly after that but had to go back to the car to get my suitcase in but was then told I would have to go around the front of the hotel.
Stayed in a room quite high up in the building but this wouldn’t be suitable for every one as there was no lift.
The building itself was beautiful and my room was very spacious and beautiful with a huge bathroom and cosy fire places in the bedroom and the bathroom!
Unfortunately the cleanliness wasn’t there.
There were hairs in the bed, bits all over the bathroom floor, blood around the toilet and on the back of the door.
There was random logs on each side of the window to rest the window on if you wanted it open.
The shaver point in the bathroom was upside down.
It was a shame really as the room had such character but lacking in cleanliness.
Great location in the centre of the city and the beautiful red clock tower was seen out the window

My daughter and her husband had their wedding ceremony, wedding breakfast and evening reception at the City Rooms.
The wedding should have taken place at this venue in November 2020 but like so many others was postponed due to Covid 19, however the City Rooms were great and the date was simply moved to this November, no problem at all.
This is a beautiful elegant venue, a real oasis tucked away right in the centre of Leicester. The only negative is the restricted on site parking, the City Rooms car park is very small so you would be wise to use the nearby NCP car park which offers a discount to City Rooms guests.
My daughter and son in law booked one of the wedding packages which came complete with the discretionary use of the four boutique bedrooms which we and other members of the family took welcome advantage of, so nice to be able just to pop upstairs at the end of such a long busy and exciting day. When you book a wedding package you get exclusive use of the whole building which is great.
The menus for both the wedding breakfast and evening reception were delicious and plentiful with all dietary requirements well catered for.
The staff have been excellent throughout all the preparations and on the day itself. We can't thank them enough for making our daughter and son in law's day so special. It couldn't have gone better!

The City Rooms were great hosts for our annual Hockey Ball this year, providing great food and great service throughout the night. The organising staff were really helpful, and they took care of all the evenings details and helped promptly with any issues that I had prior to the event with documentation etc... I can highly recommend them for any large scale events in future.

Overall a really good experience. Any questions or queries were answered straight away and staff went above and beyond to cater for our requests. If I had to criticise, food was good but not amazing, as I have experienced at some venues, but this isn't wasn't a major flaw at all. Alcohol prices were on the high side (as expected at a venue) but not as high as I was expecting so this was a pleasant surprise. Would definitely recommend booking at City Rooms for a Uni Ball!

Our company has used The City Rooms twice now for the very important 'Long Service Awards' lunch where we celebrate with our staff members for their service years. The staff from the inception of the enquiry down to the event itself are always professional, prompt to respond and nothing is too much trouble. The starters, mains and desserts were spot on, all served promptly with no hitches and the ambient music was superb. What a grand venue for a grand event, can't wait to come back. First class and well done The City Rooms and all it's staff.

Our Midwifery Society held a ball at the City Rooms, to celebrate everything the student midwives had achieved over the past few years. We had pre-dinner drinks in the downstairs room, then a three course meal followed by drinks and dancing upstairs in the ball-room. The venue was perfect for what we needed - thank you all.

We had our wedding at The City Rooms this month and we were completely blown away at not only the venue but how much the staff helped us. Our wedding coordinator went above and beyond to help us plan our day and on the day was absolutely amazing with anything we needed! The team who took over when she had to leave was absolutely brilliant and carried on making our day special. Their senses of humour and perseverance when some of our guests made the room into a karaoke bar was amazing. They all helped us get anything we needed and even made sure we was well taken care of through the night of our stay. We can not thank enough each and every staff member that helped shape our day into what it was. We could not imagine getting married anywhere else. Thank you, all of you. We could not recommend The City Rooms and all it’s staff there enough! x

Can you book a room and use your own catering.
Answer from thecityrooms
leicester
Good Morning and thank you for your query. We have our very own chefs that can cater for all types of cuisine so for that reason we don't allow outside catering. The only exception would apply to our Asian Weddings as we do have preferred licensed caterers whom we work with but this is very unlikely to happen too as our chefs would normally cater for these functions as well. If you would like to contact us directly we would be more than happy to create a bespoke menu for you.
