Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We have just come back from a Santa meet and greet here. We booked vegetarian food and they brought out Ham sandwiches. (They did the same thing to us a few months ago) Then they finally came back with Jam sandwiches when we asked for a replacement. When we asked for additional cheese sandwiches (so we could have something savory), which we said we would pay for, the kitchen said no. We had left over cakes and when we asked for something to take them home with they said they had no containers and no paper tissues so we had to take them out with our hands. For the price and venue we expected better than this. We won't come again. Santa was great though.

We took the £25 afternoon tea. Absolutely loved it. Staff were superb - and very happy too, which is always a bonus. The finger sandwiches were a delight, we had a choice of 6, but chose egg, prawn, pork, turkey and cucumber. They were all lush,😍 Fruit and plain scone were lovely, and the cream was proper heart attack stuff! Can’t beat it. God selection of cakes etc but to be honest we took them home in a box as we were seriously full by then. Delightful china cups, plates and teapot. Photo attached. Thank you Winstanley house 👍👍

The charity I work for, Alex's Wish - Cure Duchenne, recently held an Autumn Ball for 210 people at Winstanley House. The whole experience was seamless, professional and enjoyable. Our event Coordinator (Beth Ellis), was a joy to work with and communicated with us throughout the whole process, keeping us up to date as the event drew closer. The event team on the night, led by Teo and Sanj were fantastic. Alert, on the ball, frequently asking if there was anything which they could help with, and if there was anything we needed - nothing was too much hassle. They were very hands on and actioned everything that was requested in and swift and timely manner, you could tell they wanted everything to run as smooth as possible - and it did! Two of our team also stayed at the venue overnight, and were blown away with the room they stayed in. It was spotlessly clean, very spacious and comfortable, and the breakfast in the morning had enough choice to meet everyone's needs. The whole experience was immensely enjoyable, so much so, that the charity has re-book for 2024 already. A true testament to the team at Winstanley House. Thank you!

Arranged a friends bridal shower here for Afternoon Tea. Whilst the venue itself was beautiful and an ideal setting for a celebration, the overall experience was not what we expected and left the group very disappointed. Despite sending a pre order 2 weeks in advance there was still confusion over who had ordered what, and so what was supposed to be a relaxing experience started off very disorganised and me having to help staff with orders. When the food did then come out the sandwiches and scones were served on silver buffet platters, not the beautiful high tea stands that were advertised, meaning we had to get out of our seats to get food from trays down the table. This was an important afternoon for my friend with family travelling from all over to be there and so was super disappointing and quite embarrassing for me having organised the event. Despite emailing Winstanley House with feedback and following up with a phone call I’m still waiting to recieve any kind of response from their restaurant manager despite being promised a call back!

Winstanley house was able to give me my dream wedding. My coordinator Paris was absolutely amazing to say the least! She was more than helpful, friendly and caring throughout my journey and I couldn’t have done it without her. I would highly recommend Winstanley house as a wedding venue!

Looks beautiful on the outside, some friendly staff! Room was filthy urine on bathroom door, shower had black mould all around hair in bed! Doors were filthy, room had never been hoovered, leather falling off the chair at desk! Breakfast was poor f& b manager clearing food away before we had even finished eating. Said breakfast was over, so he had to clear down, even though guests still waiting for food! He was very rude! Tried to leave feedback but no staff at reception for over 20 minutes !

We came on the Steak and Stay deal. We were greeted by a smiley, efficient and professional receptionist. I wish I'd made a note of her name to give her special credit. Our bedroom was gorgeous with lovely furnishings, chandeliers and view over the beautiful gardens and trees. Dinner was fine. A special shout out to waiter Killian who was excellent. Only a couple of grumbles. Our onion rings were cold but they took them off the bill when we mentioned it, so fair enough and I would have liked another shelf/ surface in the bathroom to put toilet bags on. Met the chef at breakfast who was very friendly and bigging up his perfect poached eggs- and indeed they were.

We hosted our charity gala event at Winstanley House in September and couldn’t have been happier with our experience; the team at Winstanley are wonderful to deal with. Taylor our event co-ordinator was brilliant and very supportive in the run up to the event – she responded quickly to all of our queries and was so helpful during the preparation stage. Taylor and the other staff present at our event provided outstanding customer service, from our set up during the day, to the evening itself. Nothing was too much trouble and many of our guests commented on how great the service was. The food provided was delicious and the venue itself provided a beautiful backdrop for our Gala. Thank you!

Having stayed there once before when it had literally just opened in 2017 we booked again for 5 nights as we were needing to stay in the area. Mistake! All has changed. The room we booked was one of their best and yet badly in need of extensive maintenance and carpet replacement; the AC was set to only heat when it was blisteringly hot outside, the service was almost non existent as regards housekeeping as the room was found to be dirty with copious hair on carpet and bathroom floor and an equally bad experience at breakfast with totally untrained young surly staff and a really bad quality buffet offering little and cheap ingredients. That said the hot breakfast option seemed to be gar better quality wise, but on the one day we ordered, it took for ever to be served so back to the bad buffet. Bottom line, probably a good choice to spend one night after drinking at a wedding function. But absolutely not a choice for anything else in our view. The owners need to invest money and proper management and not open it to regular hotel guests staying for more than one night as they are clearly not delivering comparable quality.

We held our son's engagement party at Winstanley House. From start to finish, the team couldn't be more helpful. Friendly and efficient with attention to detail. The decor was subtle and served to accentuate the already beautiful surroundings. The food was sublime. All organised to perfection. Thank you Beth and Team.
