This is without doubt the worst accommodation I have ever been in, I won’t say stayed in as we didn’t stay, we went to our rooms and within 15 minutes we had checked out and left. We booked 5 rooms for work, the whole hotel was dirty, smelly, and dangerous, live wires on show in my bedroom, something that looked like bloody up the wall and along the skirting in my bedroom and banisters on the 1st floor that were loose. I am actually lost for words as to how bad it was.

This must be the worst hotel stay I have ever had. I booked a superior room in this 3 * hotel. From the room perspective, there was a big draft coming through the window. the electric socket was broken, the fixtures and fittings were in a poor state, the television didn't work and there was no hair dryer. The bathroom bin hadn't been emptied from the previous occupant, the bath was dirty, the cups had a layer of dust in them and there was chewing gum or something equally sticky on the floor. In addition the curtains didnt completely close, letting in light from the road outside. On check in I asked about the restuarant but it was closed as I was told that the hotel was being refurbished although there was no sign of this anywhere. I had to go out to get a take away. When I went to work the following day I left a note by the television asking for a hairdryer and for a working television as there was no-one on reception. When I returned that evening my room hadn't been serviced so no chance of what I had asked for. The person on reception didnt lift his head from his phone even when I asked him a question. In addition to the above, this is certainly not a hotel for single female travellers.

I travel a lot and have stayed in many hotels all over the world, and I can honestly say that the Regency Hotel in Leicester was one of the worst, a health hazard to stay in. Not only was the room and hotel unloved and very dirty; during the second night, rain was flooding in the room, resulting into soaked curtains dripping onto a soggy carpet. It was like sleeping next to several dripping taps that you couldn’t turn off. It was impossible to fall back asleep. Upon further inspection the next morning, my wife found extensive mould behind the curtains, evidence that this was not a one-off occurrence. When my wife tried to complain to the manager the next morning, he insisted he was not aware of any mould of leaky roof/window. She was transferred to another manager who didn’t even listen to the complaint but shouted at her, calling her names. They charged £275/NIGHT (radio 2 party in the park) , knowing very well the state of the room (with a leaky roof and health hazardous mould!). They clearly have no morals or shame. EVEN IF ITS THE LAST HOTEL AVAILABLE - DONT BOOK THIS HOTEL

Everything was pathetic, room stinks bad, windows wasn’t closing broken window. Carpet wasn’t cleaned from ages. Dirty linens. Some lights and found broken fan. No amenities provided. Not welcoming staff. Horrible vibes like ancient ghost house. I paid 80 pounds but wasn’t even worth 20 pounds. Was my big mistake. Spoiled my Leicester trip. Worst ever.

Easily the worst hotel I’ve ever experienced and I’ve traveled globally. Pretty sure this is a knocking shop. Shower broken, bath filled with hair and scum, toilet unclean, skid marks on clean towels, dirty marks on bed sheets and to top it all, a drunk couple actually unlocked my door after midnight and entered my room. After some screaming they left and I slept in the car, this place is crawling. A traumatising experience. If you like the Hostel film franchise then you’ll love it here. Welcome to hell!

Dirty room. Broken and damaged walls, baths, toilet seats etc. Bins not emptied of used feminine hygiene products. Toilet not cleaned properly for months. Wallpaper hanging of the walls. Ripped sheets. Handles falling off everywhere. Just awful. Please for £80 find somewhere else.

Dripping tap, stank of smoke, walls and blind stained with smoke. I cannot tell you how overwhelming the smell of cigarette smoke was. The most uncomfortable and squeaky bed ever. They needed to be tightened with an allen key, but there was no staff about at all. The shower cubicle was mouldy, filthy, had hair all over so we didn't dare use it. Worst customer service, no reception, just a phone number to call and had to wait 15 minutes until someone appeared. Do not stay here, if you have a car, you are better off sleeping in the car.

Stayed here in June for one night. We did ask to see the room on arrival which was on first impression appeared basic but passable given we need to leave quickly for a family party locally and we were only staying one night. The hotel has clearly had better days. The general level of cleanliness and decoration is of a poor standard and there appeared to be a strange odour throughout. The bed was comfortable however it had been a four poster in it’s heyday, but the canopy has obviously gone elsewhere now!!! It was in the morning that we discovered the shower did not work, the bath would have taken for ages to fill and the sink would not empty properly… On leaving the hotel I brought our concerns to a member of staff who took my contact details and informed that his manager would contact me later in the day. The call never come! I have since left at least one voicemail asking to discuss my concerns. I felt that I needed to raise my concerns about the visit to the hotel despite our stay been over a fortnight ago, so I attempted to contact again on June 22nd. I was initially pleased to speak to a lady who said she was the manager, however when I attempted to explain my concerns she then told me she was the duty manager and she stated I was a scammer only wanting money back and I was welcome to add the number of poor reviews that the hotel was in receipt of. She was very animated on the telephone and proceeded to hand me over to Richard her manager. He was much more reasonable, however supported his colleague in saying that I should have raised my concerns at the time and the Regent would have rectified the issues!! Richard went as far as saying the bathroom had been refurbished prior to our stay!! That was clearly not the case as although the flooring may have been renewed, the facilities did not work. Any type of refund was clearly not an option for the management team! Overall it is not advisable to stay at the hotel and certainly it was not worth the charge of £74!

On arrival walking into the lobby I was greeted with a cloud of cigarette fumes. Creaking floorboards were tolerable due to the age of the building. I had travelled a very long way cross country and needed the toilet I lifted the toilet seat to be greeted by an unflushed toilet. Inspecting the rest of my room, it was aged with peeling wallpaper on the ceiling, cigarette burnt grime engrained carpets and smashed cheap venetian blinds. I spent the little time I wanted to be awake in the room wearing sanitary towel plastic bags on my feet as the carpet was in such poor condition and none of my bags did I even dare place on the floor. It was 2330hrs I was tired and just wanted to go to sleep as it was just a shower and no bath to soak in. The shower had mould in most of the grouting and grime around the edges. I pulled the quilt back, the sheets were pristine white and pressed so I felt slightly assured.... however the frame was that from a prison cell and the odours of stale dribble seeped thought the pillowcase from the pillow. I woke in the night with my skin crawling I'm sure (or hope) it was paranoia. in the morning all I wanted was to get in the hot shower to get clean, all I can do is describe the experience like a weather forecast "Good morning the weather for today will be a centralised downpour of scalding hot water with very light rain coming out at 45*across the area. Final inspection before leaving the grandeur of The Regency Hotel urged me to have one last look around..... Opening the drawers. drawer one, broken bits of furniture. Drawer two, surprise, surprise all clear. Drawer 3...… empty all but evidence the I was not alone...….. mouse droppings. As to complaining and refund...... reception was empty and 3 sets of of vacated room keys on the desk.

The hotel itself is very dilapidated from the outside - a far cry from the photos you see on any listings via third party booking sites. The room had an overpowering smell of stale smoke, the bathroom walls were yellowing and to make matters worse - no hot water in the morning! The door closer was hanging off the wall with sharp screws exposed. The sliding wardrobe door was broken and just hanging at an angle. Walls paper thin so you can hear the occupants next door groaning in the night. When it comes to checking out, it’s a case of leave your keys on Reception….the hotel’s very sneaky tactic for avoiding complaints and using that as an excuse for refusing to offer any compensation or refund! The location itself isn’t great, whilst there’s a shop within walking distance, it’s not exactly in the most welcoming areas of Leicester. Complete waste of money and a horrific experience, would NOT recommend!
