Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Visited Lincoln for the first time 18th and 19th November and glad I chose this hotel as it was perfect for an overnight stay Booked 2 single rooms for 4 people.. Check in service was very friendly and efficient. Room was excellent in fact one of the best single beds I've slept in very comfortable and spacious. Sunday morning breakfast. The breakfast itself was OK good selection however the service was poor. It looked like they were short staffed in the restaurant. No glasses out for juice. No coffee cups and then no.pkates for breakfast so this for me is why gave 4 stars instead of 5. I would point out the hotel was full also as they had an event the night before which might explain the difficulties. I would however return and thanks for a comfortable night's sleep.

We were a family of 5 having Sunday lunch. I can’t even begin to explain how bad the food was. Starters were the best part. Main was dried up beef, roast potatoes you couldn’t even cut into, grey stuffing (never seen stuffing that colour in my life before) hard veg and overdone Yorkshires. One of us had chicken which was also overdone. Dessert was also awful. Never ever will we go back

I visited here with my 2 sisters for an over night stay in Lincoln. The hotel has a strange musty smell, the beds are very uncomfortable, the bathroom is very outdated and our room was freezing cold! The only positives are the location and free parking! I wouldn’t recommend

Stayed here for one night with my husband. We had a deluxe room, very spacious and clean. Bed was comfy. Great location, couple minutes walk to the cathedral and the castle. Plenty of options at breakfast. Also had plenty of gluten free options such as sausages, hash browns and bread. Vegetarian/vegan options too. Stairway could do with a refurb and looks a bit rough around the edges from the outside but had a pleasant stay and would recommend staying here if visiting for a couple of nights.

Everywhere in this hotel there is evidence of a shocking lack of care & maintenance. Almost every surface, both in public rooms & bedrooms, has peeling, stained laminate, carpets that are badly stained & the lift is, at best, unbelievably slow & frequently does not work at all. The overwhelming ‘tattiness’ overshadows the hotel’s excellent situation & the pleasant staff & none of us will be making a return visit.

Stayed for one night. A comfortable bedroom with a lovely view of the cathedral. However, our car, that was parked in the hotel car park, was broken into and the rear window was smashed. I informed the receptionist and asked her if the car park was covered by CCTV - she informed me it wasn't. She was completely disinterested and totally unconcerned.

We chose to stay at the Lincoln hotel as the hotel had a great view of the Lincoln cathedral. Upon arrival we were greeted by the hotel staff who appeared very warm and welcoming. The hotel was clean and inviting but could have done with a slight upgrade on the lift as it didn’t always work efficiently! The room that we were provided for the night was clean and spacious although there were minor issues such as the bathroom whereby the cold shower tap didn’t work at all so we had to use the bath to avoid being scalded by the very hot water! The following morning we had breakfast at the hotel. The breakfast was faultless and the staff who served us were again very helpful and friendly! We would recommend this hotel when visiting Lincoln.

A lovely spacious room, plenty of storage. Bathroom had a large powerful shower. Toiletries were lovely. We thought the bed was very comfortable and the view of the cathederal was spectacular. The bells tolling was nice. Staff were very helpfull and friendly. Just a stones throw from the steep hill and main area of Lincoln

We booked this as we had a gift experience to use and wanted a night in Lincoln. We read the reviews on route and we were taken a back and had very low expectations! On arrival the hotel looked good from the outside, easy to find and accessible carpatk. There was a funny musty smell in reception and were a bit worried but had a warm welcome and check in was efficient. We then braved the lift (after the reviews) and we survived although we soon ditched using it as it generally didn't work. The room was nice, amazing view, good size and bed comfy. It was a superior room so maybe they are worth the extra? Breakfast was OK, plenty of choice and edible. Overall it was good value for money considering the location. Yes if I had paid more I would be much more critical but it was all good for the price. The place is aged but staff were friendly and location amazing.
