I booked a standard king size room 406.
We arrived to a smiley reception who was happy to help us, gave us a choice of floor preferences. We were pleased with our room, very clean, a large room with a huge comfy bed. Bathroom fitted with a powerful shower and lovely complimentary shower wash and shampoo. Lovely thick towels. Free tean and coffee and plenty of milk. There is a car park to the back of the property which is charged at £10 for 24hrs.
Thank you for a lovely. Hotel in a great location with plenty of eateries and bars very close by, but dont be put off there was no noise at all and i slept like a baby, only a 2 minute walk and you are at the high street and about 10/15 walk to cathedral and castle. Holiday Inn you should be proud of your staff at the Lincoln Bradford Wharf. 😀

Spent a few nights at this hotel shortly after the lockdown restrictions were finally lifted on the hospitality industry.

We chose to stay at this hotel due to its prime location directly facing the Brayford Marina.

Our executive rooms gave you stunning marina views. The rooms were standard size and came with a mini fridge, sofa bed and coffee table. Complimentary toiletries are available in the bathroom but sadly these were not replenished.

The hotel itself seemed clean but we did notice the remote control was not sanitised and cleaned as it was supposed to be as greasy marks were all over it.

The car parking is limited and chargeable and also you will have to go around the corner to park in the multi-storey and expect to pay £8.50 per 24 hours. The hotel is currently undergoing a refurbishment including extending its car park so best to check to see if its complete if you want to park at hotel.

The breakfast was different than expected, you have to ask for a pre-order slip each evening and hand it back or leave it outside your room. Your breakfast will then delivered to your room free of charge the following morning at your designated time slot although this is sometimes late.

This is not the most thought out plan as I would have preferred eating in the restaurant even with adhering to social distancing rules but alas it was not to be, instead we had to contend with paper bags with your breakfast items wrapped up in tin foil. Should make this clear on the website before booking not at check in.

The housekeeping restrictions also applied here whereby housekeeping staff can only service your room every 5 days to minimise contact. In this case it was not so much a problem until you want clean fresh towels.

The housekeeping will not collect your used towels but they still come into your room and leave a clean bath towel when you ask ask. Considering they are minimising contact in your room I am surprised they wont collect used towels, also why on earth just leave one towel when its clearly obvious two are occupying the room.

We had to constantly ask for an additional clean towel everytime.

Facilities like gym and pool were not in use at this time due to the restrictions.

The hotel is surrounded by a vast array of restaurants to choose from anything from Indian, Chinese, Vietnamese to your traditional Harvester, Wetherspoons, Zizzi Burger bars, Nandos etc you are actually spoilt for choice when it comes to eating out. The best thing is the majority of the eateries are situated on the marina itself.

The hotel is just under 10 minutes walk away from city center and train station.

In conclusion this is a lovely hotel in the heart of the city with a lovely tranquil setting, we weren't going to let these niggles get in the way but can only rate average on this occasion until this situation is better thought of.

Response from IHG Service, Owner at Holiday Inn Lincoln, an IHG Hotel
Responded 26 Jul 2020
Hi MrGee1234, We appreciate your recent stay and detailed feedback for our Holiday Inn Lincoln property. Our hotel is committed to providing our guests with quality service amidst this ongoing crisis. Due to the mandates in place for the prevention of the COVID-19, we are unable to serve our usual breakfast that our guests know and love. Regrettably, this also includes the closure of our pool facilities and the limited workforce for housekeeping. I am sorry that you find our services unsatisfactory and efforts inadequate. Your feedback about our housekeeping and breakfast services will not be left unnoticed. Our local management has been made aware of the impression it gave you and I am confident that your comments will be used to coach our team to provide a better experience in the future. We always challenge ourselves to be better and look forward to having the opportunity to restore your confidence once the restrictions are lifted. Until your next visit in the area! Best Regards, Alice P Case Manager IHGService

On arrival at the hotel, there were hand sanitisers and signs saying to wear masks in communal spaces. Our room had a lovely view of the marina, although it would have been nice to have been able to open the window properly. The room was a little tired, but was clean and the beds were comfy. The staff were great, very helpful. We were fine with not having the room cleaned every day, and the housekeeping staff said that if we needed anything to help ourselves from their trolley.

Their are many restaurants near to the hotel and due to the Eat Out Help Out scheme these were all rammed and impossible to get a reservation. So we decided we'd have to eat at the hotel's Brayford Restaurant. We were the only people there, which was odd. The food choices were either ping food or fast food, not at all inspiring. I ordered a Caesar Salad with a Salmon fillet, when it came the Salmon was grey and totally overcooked. I sent it back and after quite a wait they brought out another one which was only slightly better. There were no crouton in the salad, and just one shaving of parmesan. To be honest I've had better Caesar Salad from Asda! The food was very overpriced for what it was. However, the waitress said that they would take our bottle of wine of the bill to compensate for overcooked salmon.

It was our first visit to Lincoln and chose the Holiday Inn due to it's appealing central location and marine view bedrooms. We had booked for one night arriving on the 5th of September; checking in at 3 pm. Upon arrival, we were informed they had no car parking facilities and had to use the multi-story 200 metres from the complex which put a damper on the mood having to pay another £10 to park our car.

Reception seemed to be pretty organised with the necessary COVID standards eg: face mask reminders, hand sanitiser stations etc...

Our king-sized bedroom was pleasantly clean but unfortunately, the cleaners had forgotten to fill our hand soap up so we were left with using our own hand sanitiser for the night. But overall believe the 'clean promise' had been met and felt comfortable staying there. The bathroom was modern and the shower's power was great with excellent temperatures.

We both had a great night exploring Lincoln and had fun seeing what the city had to offer. But the disappointing 2 stars is purely based on the shocking bed. It was atrocious. The mattress was incredibly hard and we both must have had around an hours sleep due to this. The pillows too were incredibly uncomfortable and we had to call reception for more as 2 each was simply not enough. It did not help that the timed air- conditioning facilities was loud but had no choice as the room was too warm without it. On a positive note, I would say the blackout blinds were excellent and blocked out most of the light.

Unfortunately, we left the hotel the next day feeling pretty restless which was a shame as the hotel overall had good facilities and offered a friendly atmosphere. But until the beds are improved, we shall not be booking again.

Being a visitor to Lincoln for its nite life, we make this hotel our first choice every time. On our most recent stay, we were allocated a room on the first floor but to our dismay, we had no natural light due to the extension work. I politely asked at reception if it was at all possible to change rooms and we were immediately provided with a room excelling our expectations. The new suites on the lower floor did just fine, and made our night's stay most enjoyable. We found parking limited but not a problem. The room's are always spotless and a great night's sleep on a very comfortable bed. The local shopping centre is a 5 minute walk along the Brayford front and all in all, for ease of everything you want from a stop off, this hotel delivers.

Nice hotel situated in Brayford Pool close to restaurants and bars and just short walk into the city centre.

We stayed over a weekend and our room was at the front with a nice view overlooking the marina however it was noisy at night when the bars/restaurants closed and we were also close to the main entrance so had to endure people stood outside talking and smoking very late into the night.

The room itself was clean and comfortable but it would have been better if there was a fridge for cold drinks and a safe. It was a good size with a double bed, very large sofa unit, plenty of storage for clothes and decent sized bathroom with shower and a heated mirror which is always useful. Also provided is free guest WiFi, tea/coffee and hair dryer plus plenty of electrical sockets.

There is a car park at the back of the hotel but they do charge £10 per night

Breakfast was good, currently an assisted hot buffet due to Covid but the rest is self service and a decent enough choice of cereal, yoghurt, fruit, cakes and bread for toasting. Will cater for allergies if advised. You can also order through room service and the restaurant is open through the day for snacks, drinks and evening meals

Staff all very friendly and working hard to maintain a covid safe environment

Stayed one night at the hotel with a coach group. We all sat in the bar half an hour to wait for our rooms. The receptionist did not check us in nor welcome us only to say rooms not ready come back later. We all sat and waited. It was the chef that welcomed us, gave out room keys, dinner pre order menus and info. He was very pleasant and helpful.

I had a super comfy luxury bedchamber with king size 6ft bed and a good, hot, easy to use walk in shower.

At dinner, the food was fine and there was a good choice. The gentlemen who served us were pleasant, helpful and worked hard. Table service rather than ‘conference’ service would have been more efficient. For our group of 26 sitting across 5 or 6 tables, the dining room staff brought out all the sausage dinners first, then all the fish meals and after a lengthy wait the chicken dinners. My main course arrived when my friends at the table had almost finished theirs.

Breakfast is buffet style and again an excellent choice. We were in early for breakfast and looked after well by an older gentleman, very helpful and efficient.

My bed was very comfortable. The room was very quiet - did not hear any noise from corridor nor other neighbouring rooms which was great. The lighting in the room was fine except a little dark for reading at night as no centre main light.

Communal areas of the hotel appeared very clean and on arrival my bedchamber was spotlessly clean. Overall a very enjoyable stay.

Myself and my partner stayed for one night as we were going on a night out in Lincoln. The hotel is in a nice location with plenty of places to eat nearby and a short walk to the centre. The room was nice and found the staff to be friendly and welcoming. However, we did encounter a couple of issues. Around 0830 the next morning we were woken by drilling and banging in the next room. I understand that work needs to be carried out but the hotel should not be selling the rooms directly next door to rooms where work is taking place, or they could have at least pre warned us. Secondly, check out time was 12pm however around 11am a member of staff (maybe a cleaner, didnt see her behind the wall) knocked twice on our door then immediately let herself in before we had chance to respond, she did apologise and said she thought we had checked out.. surely there is a system to check when people have checked out? Found this to be an invasion of privacy.
It's a shame as I would have stayed again if it weren't for these problems but unfortunately it has put me off visiting again

Booked in for a couple of nights city break and cannot fault the fantastic location nor the reception staff who were just lovely in every way. Happy to chat and advise when time allowed; quick and efficient when busy. Housekeeping staff, busy little bees that they are, always had time for a cheery "good morning" too.
Having stayed in many IHG hotels the rooms did let it down a bit. Very dated in decor with some weird secondary glazing that restricts air flow, an air con unit that didn't seem to cool the room as it said it would and a light not working but we didn't know it was there until we left anyway, so no harm done, but the 'earthy' decor is very dull and it needs brightening up.

Location in respect to town is great. Breakfast buffet was delicious though it took a good 10 mins before we were seated. I had to catch someone to order tea and again to bring me a mug to drink it with but staff were friendly, just double busy.

We had a twin double bed room which was perfect for my daughter (who sleeps like a starfish) and myself. Beds and bedding were comfy too. Unfortunately they’d not supplied us with towels for 2 and also no toiletries, just leftover toiletries (open soap packet, shampoo bottle in shower) which makes me think they didn’t do a proper clean. Having said that both the bathroom and bedroom seemed clean enough. Toilet and shower were clean. Another thing I missed in the bathroom was a toilet brush. Not sure why they deem those unnecessary these days…

I asked if I can do my checkout the night before (to avoid large queue at breakfast time) and was told it was not possible till after midnight … I’ve done this before in many other hotels. Not sure why they can’t accommodate.

Last minor complaint. No dedicated reserved parking. Had no problems on first day as we arrived at lunchtime but 2nd day we’d been out and only returned at about 7pm on Friday night by which time nearly all slots were taken. Remaining slots were blocked by a skip or very narrow due to rubbish parking skills of neighbouring driver. Just managed ti squeeze my hire car into the second slot but otherwise would have had to go to nearest multi-storey instead. Not very convenient…

If I went to Lincoln again I don’t feel I would have to stay here again especially if travelling by car as it really is quite a small town so possibly easier to park a but further out. However as I said at the start, the staff were friendly and location is in walking distance of Brayford Wharf restaurant area and town centre so that’s probably it’s biggest selling point (and the yummy breakfast)

Normally sandwiches are a mix of Ham & Mustard, Cheese & Pickle, Egg Mayonnaise and then either Turkey & Cranberry or Tuna mayonnaise. However we can accommodate all allergens and dietaries. When you book if you just mention it and we are more than happy to adjust our offering so you have a full selection of vegetarian sandwiches for you daughter.
