Great stay
Stayed in a suite which was really lovely with a great view and nice balcony
Bed was firm but very comfortable bit noisy when you turned over think that was the wooden base causing the noise wasn’t a problem though
Staff all very welcoming whoever does staff recruitment does a good job, Wendy at breakfast was so welcoming, lovely lady, and the breakfast was plentiful a great selection with help yourself hot buffet
We parked in the multi storey which was cheaper and very convenient only a couple of minutes walk away
My only gripe would be the electric bar above us didn’t hear music or talking but what sounded like chairs being dragged about maybe it was staff rearranging chairs because this was after 1pm and this bar does close after this time
To sum up a good stay lovely suite and would definitely stay here again!

We recently stayed here for a night whilst meeting friends.
I have phoned before to check on parking and was told it should be ok but it was first come, first serve so approached the barrier and would not open . Another guest then told me there were only a couple of spaces available and my car was too big anyway as they were very narrow spaces . I had to reverse and got abuse from another guest as he had to back up slightly. Eventually we parked at the local council offices which was an easy 10 minute walk and just £8.50 for 24 hours.
On checking we were excellently looked after by Robyn who apologised for our experience and gave us a very nice room.
The room was very comfortable with a very good shower and a very comfortable bed and we enjoyed a god nights sleep.
The bar was nice and we enjoyed a very good Malbec but it might be nice if they stocked a couple of local beers and gisn.
Breakfast in the morning was nice with service excellent and a good view of the cathedral.
Check out was easy and other than parking this was a great stay!

I have stayed at many a Hilton in my time, usually Double Tree and this was bad.
We had one of the better rooms on the front with a balcony and marina view,we had a living room and seperate bedroom.
When I opened the door,I was greeted by a grubby carpet covered in bleach stains, the whole carpet,in both areas was stained, marked and needed ripping out.
It was obvious that no hoovering was done by the pile of crumbs next to the sofa bed and a large hairball, rolling across the bathroom floor like a tumbleweed.
Disgusting.
Talk about creaking, the bed was in terrible condition, never been in a bed that did that,go and get a couple of members of staff to try it out.
Because of the balcony and view, the room should reflect those two luxuries and it clearly doesnt, needs painting, new carpet ,new bed ,when customers are paying a higher room rate, this should go without saying.
Its pretty clear to me that cleaning staff were missing,my theory is that the hotels are trying to claw back their corona losses by letting cleaning staff go.
Only new bedding and towels, the minimum was done.

Check out my review of Mour Hotel,Its the same sad story,I stayed at the Mour, the night before and it was dirty too.
In these unprecedented times, the public was promised a fail safe, strictly managed cleaning policy due to corona, this is the very opposite.
Shocking,I felt unsafe, dirty, anxious and had my 14 year old son to worry about, taking him into that.

Get the negative out the way first- £12 for 24hrs parking when about 200 yards away you can park for £8 for 24hrs , not a massive difference but just feel you could match the other price. Overall this is a lovely big hotel right on the water front with easy access with your car. It’s spotlessly clean inside and bathroom, bedroom etc was to the high standard you’d expect from Double Tree. The tea/coffee is in a drawer and can be easily lifted out for use. There’s a huge tv on the wall and plenty of space in the room. There’s sanitizer before and after you get into the lifts etc. They have a nice bar upstairs but only room for about 3 small tables on the balcony. Come out of the hotel turn left and you’ll hit some bars/restaurants within 2 mins. To walk into the centre from here is less than five mins so it’s an ideal place to stay. Staff at reception were very friendly and professional. At £90pn including parking I’d say worth the money.

Dear vegasbaz Thank you for the wonderful review and we are delighted you had a great experience on this visit. Point taken about the car park cost, but while the car park along the Brayford is fairly open, ours is indeed secured by gates, barriers and CCTV. Thank you for recognising the measures we have put in place to manage the current COVID-19 situation, and indeed the friendly and professional staff working at the hotel. We hope to see you again soon. Kind regards Jonathan

We stayed at the DoubleTree for one night on the 18/08. We reserved a king room for one night.

Check In
Check in was nice and easy, a warm cookie was given to us during check in which I thought was a really nice touch.

Common Areas
Very clean, masks must be worn when your walking around in these areas. Lifts were quick so you never waited very long for an empty one.

Room
This is where the disappointment sets in for us. The hotel is in a lovely position with views to all sides so when we walked into our room we had been put in the darkest, dingiest room in the building. It was on the lowest floor and looking onto the car park. Not even the lighting in the room could save us as this was equally dark. We had a wander around the hotel when we came in from our meal out and noticed many of the seals they place on the doors to say the room had been cleaned had not been broken. Why we couldn't have been put in another room I have no idea.

The room was not clean, surfaces had an odd white film over them and the bathroom, shower and bath silicone looked like it hadn't seen a drop of bleach in months.

The bed, i can't describe how bad it was. The constant creaking from every single movement we made in the bed kept us awake the majority of the night. I think this is very much a hotel wide issue as we could hear next door/upstairs bed creaking exactly the same. Terrible.

The other issue is the Air Conditioning. Most hotels let you do what you please with the temperature. I tend to get quite hot in bed so 18-21c in an air conditioned room with no outside ventilation I can cope with. Unfortunately in this room the temperature would only go down on cool mode as far as 23c, coupled with the timer which automatically turned the air conditioning off every 2 hours made for drastically unpleasant night sleep.

In the morning when the maids decided to barrel around the corridor, they were shouting and laughing outside whilst we were trying to get some sleep.

We were collecting a new car in the morning of the 19th so I chose express check out. We left in the morning and grabbed breakfast elsewhere so I cannot comment on that.

I wish i'd saved the £30 a night and gone to stay at the Premier Inn, at least I can rely on their excellent bed and have the good night sleep guarantee.

We visited for 2 nights on the first weekend that hotels could reopen.

Hotel is located in a popular part of Lincoln, with many places to eat and drink local and the university very close.

The design of the hotel, is the very front faces the wharf/ pool while the majority of the hotel overlooks buildings next to it.

Unsure if it’s a Hilton specification but I don’t get the half windows that appear very common in Hilton properties. It makes the room very dark, especially given the majority of rooms will face the buildings next door. Lighting in the room is quite poor. Not a place to go if you love good views, unless you stay in the rooms overlooking the wharf/ pool.

The greeting from reception staff was warm and welcoming, as you expect in this covid era, rooms aren’t cleaned unless requested. But your room is spotless and if you need anything the reception staff were very helpful in providing.

Hand sanitiser on entrance and on each floor by the lifts and social distancing observed. With a capacity of only 2 in the lift, be mindful that you may wait longer than usual as clearly the hotel was never designed to have only 2 people in the lift.

Breakfast, something that Hilton’s generally have done very badly with. Was very pleased to see a buffet style cold selection, with hot food provided by a staff member. You are greeted and taken to a socially distanced table, offered tea / coffee and toast. The issue would be, there could be a slight queue for the hot food, especially if you arrive after a family have all gone up.

Breakfast had a section of cereals, pastry , yoghurt and for hot food bacon, sausage , fried egg, scrambled egg, mushrooms, baked beans and hash browns. We never asked so unsure if there are other options, which I am sure there would be for vegetarians

In summary, good location, rooms could do with brightening up with very helpful staff.

Can’t comment on parking, there appears to be a few issues, we came by train, my only annoyance is for some reason it’s difficult getting to / from Lincoln by train at the moment. Especially on a Sunday. Not the hotel’s fault 😀

Emily and Caitlyn on reception were extremely helpful to my wife during a visit from family. They made sure that my wife and cousin felt welcomed and took care of any simple requests that my cousin might have had. They were quick to get house keeping to bring extra towels or toiletries or anything that may not have been brought with them. I could not thank them enough for being able to make their stay comfortable on behalf of my wife and myself. I sincerely appreciate their attention to detail and their willingness to step up and help. It is Hilton staff that make a stay at a Hilton an enjoyable one. Without the staff there would be no hotel.

I would thank Roz the breakfast chef as she is always looking out for the long stay guests. She will bring dishes to us in case staff get busy and don’t have the time to bring food after it has been prepared. I know she does not need to do this but, I appreciate it as we get to say hello to her and enjoy her food. She is a marvelous chef and it is nice to see someone who enjoys their trade. I cannot thank her enough for always going the extra mile to make us feel welcomed.

I would like to thank Jade on reception for helping me after I returned form a long trip away. She was able to get me new keys and a warm cookie as I had not eaten after a long journey. The cookie was delightful and picked up my spirits. I was able to head up to my room and enjoy a nice shower before resting. She has wonderful advice on places to visit in the local area. I’d like to also thank her for the recommendations she gave me prior to the arrival of my family visiting England. It was nice to have other ideas of places we might eat.

We had a one-bed King suite overlooking the marina for one night. Lovely room, great views of the marina, very clean, big bathroom with separate bath and shower. Very comfortable bed.

Welcome cookie is a nice touch. Reception staff were great.

We chose room 402 (how great is it to be able to choose your own room? Love that) , which is right under The Electric Bar but we didn't hear any noise from the bar.

The Electric Bar is a really nice place to chill and very well organised, QR reader to access menu, good range of cocktails, prices not too bad, lovely views as it's on the fifth floor. Staff pleasant.

Breakfast is very well organised. We booked a time slot and then they give you a menu slip to indicate what you want and bring it to you. Food cooked to order. It's so civilized, I think I prefer it to the normal breakfast buffet.

First weekend away from home since Covid-19 so was a little bit anxious, however, the rooms were spotless and staff did everything that was within Covid guidelines so made me feel really at ease to begin with. We couldn't get in the hotel carpark, but we were warned that there was only limited parking, but parked in a multi storey which was only a short walk away, so that was fine. Breakfast was lovely, and they brought it to you after you ticked boxes on a menu to say we what you wanted as there was no buffet for obvious reasons. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was because on the Sunday morning I was very shocked to find that hardly any of the guests walking in corridors or going to breakfast had face coverings on. I know that staff aren't allowed to insist on them, but having to get in a small lift after 4 people just got out, all not wearing them, made me have to hold my breath for 4 floors as my face covering is to protect others, not me! Also, we had a dog barking outside our room late last night, and then 3 dogs all barking in reception this morning. Was not expecting to see large dogs in the hotel, but since googling, have seen that this is a dog friendly hotel, but the dogs were not small ones and just hope that certain rooms are used for dogs to avoid hairy beds etc.

First trip to a Hilton in this Covid age. Sadly the Hilton website is very US centric and doesn’t allow for the British market. Terms like “limited breakfast” are meaningless. I found Trip advisor more useful with details of what’s being offered or not.

So after positive reviews of Lincoln, we decided to head back to the Hilton.

Based on this trip, we will be back and back to Lincoln.

Arrived at 3pm to a small queue, the queue moved fairly quickly. Covid measures on arrival were hand sanitiser and screens to protect their staff.

Check in was professional. The lady fully explained the measures and the need to book a slot for the cooked breakfast in advance. I always feel the check in is the moment the trip can be won or lost. This hotel definitely went for the win. Helped no doubt with the cookie.....

We booked a King Superior room.

The hotel, being a city centre hotel, is sandwiched between other buildings. Unless you book one of the suites overlooking the water in front you are unlikely to book a view. Not an issue when you book a city centre hotel in my opinion.

The superior room , was as you would expect, spotless.

Toiletries still supplied as well as tea and coffee etc. We were able to obtain replacements at the reception and they offered to deliver them to the room if we wanted. Being a superior room this came with slippers and a dressing gown. Plenty of plug sockets including USB sockets. Free view TV. In room safe.

Breakfast in the morning was a choice of cold and a full English breakfast. The food was lovely as was the service.

In fact, the service we received here was spot on.

Spotlessly clean and covid secure.

Located very close to central Lincoln, opposite some university buildings and in an area with restaurants and bars you are in the heart of the action.

All in all, a welcome return to the Hilton chain and a great trip to Lincoln.

Would love to return and hopefully will be back in the not so distant future.
