Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The situation of the hotel is excellent - next door to the Albert Dock and big wheel, and our room had views across the Mersey to Birkenhead. The room was clean and comfortable, very much of the same standard as a room in a Premier Inn. The buffet breakfast was very good. The bulb in the desk lamp had gone, a problem as our grandson was sharing with us and wanted to use the desk to draw. I informed reception immediately, and again a day later, but when we left after staying two nights the bulb had still not been replaced. There was a similar story about the bathroom. The handbasin waste was not draining properly, and once more I informed reception on two consecutive days. When we left nothing had been done about it. The keycards for the door lock did not work reliably: twice we had to call a member of staff to let us in. The staff were very friendly and made a good show of intending to be helpful: it is a shame that actions did not live up to promises. Despite the extensive dinner menu and pictures of a large restaurant, the restaurant was closed on the weekday nights we were there. Food, of an indifferent quality and not all items on the menu, was available in the evening at a few small tables in a corner of the bar. Is it the case that the restaurant is not a serious proposition on weekdays (I do not know whether it is better ar weekends)?

We had booked as part of a three night Secret Escapes B&B deal. We arrived about an hour before official check-in time but were able to get in which we appreciated. The car park (King's Dock) is really quite a walk and you feel you don't really have to time to unpack the car in the forecourt due to the dire warnings of fines if you exceed 15 minutes. Thus I looked a bit like a pack mule as I slogged back in the rain with more bags than I would have hope to have carried. We weren't sure if our toilet was leaking until the middle of the night. By then we knew it wasn't errant shower water. The night staff were very sympathetic and accommodating and got us a room just opposite and offered to pay for the dry cleaning of my wife's trousers and socks. I should point out that the view room was this room (628) was amazing. In the morning we discovered that one of the bedside lights didn't work and the bathroom sink was almost completely blocked. We mentioned this. The light was quickly fixed but the sink remained in a worsening state and was a bit grim. We were a bit unlucky because there was a noisy group of early teenaged American footballers from New York. It was best if you could time your breakfast to avoid them The rooms were basic but comfortable, quiet and clean. The hotel is superbly located for Albert Dock, etc. Breakfast was a more than acceptable buffet style. We had a fair bit of trouble with our room card key. Apparently it helps to lift the handle before opening. But we were locked out one time because our cards had been deactivated at noon on our third day. On checking out the staff tried to charge my wife for the dry cleaning. She wasn't having that! It was quickly resolved. The car park charge was £36 from Sunday afternoon to Wednesday morning - even taking into account the hotel discount. To be expected for a city hotel I suppose.

Honestly I don’t know all this good reviews coming from I also can definitely say that I have been fooled from those , I will talk about our own experiences. During the check in a blonde lady looks like not helpful at all and sounded bit rude. We got a room no cleaned with nail found ,a moquette not been polished off with stains not cleanable, we complained and in 10 mins housekeeping has given a fast cleaning on it. Second day early morning we left the sign to clean again the room so when we back around evening the room wasn’t done and so not cleaned, we used the same Towels for 2 days which it is not lovely in a 4* as this hotel is mentioned. The condition of the bathroom wasn’t great too with the shower door not easy to open and close because of the old building. Very disappointed we will definitely not come back.

Demi from reception gave us outstanding service , through chatting to her I mentioned it was my sons birthday and we were taking him to lfc . When arrived to our room Demi had decorated it for him with lfc theme and brought him some sweets ! Just an amazing surprise for him . Thank you Demi going out of your way to provide excellent customer service . The only down side to the hotel was that the room was dated and not up to my expectation of cleanliness which is important to us . The breakfast was lovely and all the staff very friendly . Over all great trip , thank you

Stayed here for 1 night in December. The rooms were basic for a 4 star hotel. The room looked old and outdated and the bathroom looked dirty. Odd room layout and bed very small. Location was good, I wouldn’t stay again. I got a good deal for this hotel so I can’t complain about the price.

Lovely, with little improvements. Booked a 2 night stay for my birthday. Room was decorated with balloons and had a voucher for a drink. Nice touch. The room itself was clean, tidy and had a lovely view of the wheel. The only little points of improvements would be 2 red stains on the carpet, maybe wine? Also thermostat does not work on the wall. Noisey fan/vent on the ceiling kicking in and out during the night squeeking kept me awake, but only happened on the 2nd night? 2nd stay, Would stay again.

Good clean rooms. Great location. Good food. However, the highlight was the staff. I was staying with my disabled grandma and the staff were so considerate, down to even the housekeeping. I want to shout out Neve in particular, a supervisor in the bar, whose service was both excellent and understanding. Would recommend this hotel.
