I’ve stayed here a number of times now, whether I’m going to the airport or shopping in liverpool. This stay was to go and see the terracotta warriors in the world museum. This time when I booked, I chose the shared bathroom side as this is all they had. When arriving at the

I decided to stay here again because of the location to my sister. On arrival I was greeted by the manager. I hadn't known my arrival time but this didn't seem a problem. My room was on the top floor and ensuite. I found the room clean and adequate for me. When I came back in

My friend and I booked here for a one night stop over on our way to the airport. For the price we weren’t expecting much but we were pleasantly surprised! Chris, who labeled himself as the owner, greeted us in reception as he said the usual receptionist was off. He was very

We booked to stay here as a group of 7 girls on a Wednesday evening before going to the airport. It only cost 80 quid so we weren't expecting 5 star luxury and we are certainly not snobs or anything but we literally couldn't believe our eyes, or sense of smell for that matter

Response from stalbridgehotel, Manager at The Stalbridge Guest House
Responded 12 Sep 2018
Hi there. Firstly, I would like to start my response to this review by stating that I would not normally respond to reviews as it is on trip adviser and basically people can write what they like about any property, or company if they haven’t been there or stayed there and that’s how it works! But to this review, I could not let it just be out there. Without stating all the true facts. I am the manager and the lady that dealt with the3 lady’s out of the group of 7 that had booked to stay at my guest house. Upon arrival everything was fantastic, I had good banter with 2 of the 3 lady’s that had arrived. They were off to Portugal on a hen party the following morning, they come in to our establishment with balloons, bags of alcohol and basically stuff to have a party. I explained their room type and that they had booked 2 separate sides to the guest house and their rooms were not next door to each other. One room was ensuite and the other was shared bathrooms, which they had booked themselves through are booking agent booking.com. I could see that they were here to have a good time but they were told they could not party! And to please respect other guests as we have family’s staying and also people who to go out to work very early in the morning, (This is where it all changed) They were not happy they basically could not do what they come to do and that this was the start to their hen. Sorry but we are a family run establishment and cannot have party’s going on within our building, we have got to have respect for everyone that stays and take pride in making sure are guests enjoy their stay. They payed, took keys and checked in fine. I even stayed around while they went to both rooms as they weren’t sure which room to take as the other ladies and the main booker from the group had not arrived yet. Once I had gone I then received a call asking can they move rooms next to each other, this is a request I could not fulfil on this particular day. We were completely full and there was no 2 rooms to give them that was next to each other because of this they then told me they wanted to check out as they want all 7 in the group to be together. I told them that’s completely fine and sorry I could not put them together and to just drop the keys at reception on departing the guest house as the reception was shut. They then asked for a full refund. I’m awfully sorry but this is also something that you are not entitled to as they had checked in, been in their rooms and decided to leave because of their own preference’s. They were told that when they booked there was 2 ensuite available and standard rooms available but the chose this option. Then comes this review full of lies slating the guest house and how it smelt and about the people who was in it. I personally did nothing to this group, I just could not give them rooms next to each other to be able to party or a refund to go else were to do it. I pride myself of having clean, safe and nice smelling property. We Respect everyone that checks in and try my upmost to fulfil their wishes, why on their review they never once stated they dealt with me the manager that is a lady and said it was a man is confusing to say the least. They slated the place so bad to try there upmost to get a refund is just not on or fare to that matter, please read all out past reviews on this site and also on other sites from genuine people who have actually stayed and properly experienced are guest house.

Hi There. Thank you for your email, just to confirm that if you wanted to get a bus to or from the City centre or airport you would get the number 82A or 82. The price of a bus is £2.20 or £4.20 for a Adult day pass, you get off/ on the bus just before the asda supermarket in Garston on St Marys Road which is 1 minute from our main entrance. If you get a taxi I think it costs around £7 to the airport or £10 to the City Centre and the local taxi firm we recommend is Alpha Taxis and their telephone number is 01517228888.

Parking is on the street. There are roads that run either side of the guest house. My car was fine there. So I used a bus to travel to Liverpool centre.

The Guesthouse is 4.8 miles away from the city center. A taxi should cost no more than £10-£12 and takes around 15 minutes or you can get a bus which the bus stop is 1 minute walk from the Guesthouse, It costs approx. £2.20 and takes 20-30 mins.
