Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My room was basic and clean. But the doors to the rooms have no sound proofing so the drunks coming back to their rooms chatting full volume at 3am may as well have been standing in my room by my bed. If your someone whose coming back to the room 3-4am and want something cheap and basic ,then this might be fine for you. If you want some sleep I’d go elsewhere and pay a bit more.

The staff are rude and tried to over charge, Rooms are dirty, dust everywhere and the rooms smell like damp. Only good about this place is it's close to the center. I would not stay again staff tried to kick us out at 11pm because they wanted a deposit that was already paid when booking.

Lovely hotel , fantastic location in the heart of the city, great staff, special shout out to Paul and Mitch for looking after us. Second time staying here and can't wait to go back. Last time we only had 1 plug in the room, this time we had 8 so well done.

Unfortunately I had to give 1 out of 5 to enable me to review, it doesn't even deserve that. My sister and I booked here thinking it would be cheap and cheerful and we certainly were not expecting a 5*hotel as we would only be sleeping here and needing somewhere to shower in the morning. We knew we would not be spending much time in the room so it did not need to be luxury, as long as it was clean, we would be happy. How wrong we were…. We were escorted to our room by the receptionist, down a labyrinth of corridors to get to our room (room 11 triple single beds). On entering our room, we were hit with a stale smell of sweat. There were visible stains on the walls and fabric bases of the beds. The beds themselves were made but the linen did not look fresh and crisp as you would expect, on closer inspection of the beds there were hairs on the pillows, so we pulled back the covers only to find more hairs and pubic hairs in the bed. We could see stains through the sheets so we pulled back the sheets, only to find a mattress topper which was also stained, so we pulled that back to find a mattress which was also heavily stained with what I could only imagine was urine and God knows what other bodily fluids. We checked the other two beds to find that they were exactly the same. There were towels on the beds which also had yellow/brown stains on them. There was a discarded cigarette butt on the windowsill. Broken dirty vertical blinds which only covered half the window. No curtains to block out light coming in. This room had clearly not been thoroughly cleaned or maintained in quite some time. There were marks on the lino flooring (no carpet) from coffee granules. As for tea making facilities this was just two cups with a, unlabelled tea bag and milk popped into a cup, where the teabags had clearly got wet. On realising what a dump of a place we were in, we decided to get the hell out of there, as we felt unclean just being in-situ. After only spending about 15 minutes in the room, we promptly made our way back to the reception desk where I tossed my key-card on the reception desk and said we were checking out as we could not sleep in such a filthy room with filthy beds and walked out. In hindsight, maybe we should have stayed and waited for a ‘manager’ to make an appearance, to formally complain to them, but in all honesty we were so angry, upset and frustrated, we just wanted to get out of the hovel, plus we needed to find ourselves a new place to stay for the night. Later on, I messaged the property to let them know that the room was filthy and unacceptable only to get a message back berating me and accusing me of throwing the key card directly at the receptionist. Danielle (who I can only imagine is the bookings manager, as she did not inform me of her role) said that she was “perplexed as to why I would check all 3 mattresses and that they had mattress toppers in place”. She then told me she found it somewhat “premeditated “to have done this and that I “had fabricated the reason for leaving”, and that she thought that we “had no intention of staying there in the first place” ……..well Danielle, my reply to you is your mattress toppers clearly were not in place on all three mattresses when someone was micturating (to put it politely), on them, also I do not go out of my way to waste my hard earned money or precious time on such a squalid property. Judging by your replies to others (via other well- known Travel review sites), who have complained you clearly have an abhorrent reaction to those expressing any negative feedback, thoughts, and views. You can try and discredit my review in your reply but we both know you are deluded in thinking this a modern hotel and cleaned to a high standard and is not located in a great position being above a noisy pub/bar. I did go through Booking.com to ask for a refund. Booking.com told me they would speak directly to the property to ask for a refund. However, Brownlow’s reply was “they were aware of the issues but weren’t willing to offer a refund because we didn’t allow an opportunity for them to find a suitable resolution.” My response is, there was no way on Gods earth I would have stayed in any other room you may have provided. You were never going to give a refund just like other guests who have had the misfortune of booking with Brownlow’s and regretting it like us. Any one considering booking this place, save your money and time, as a positive response is futile. My advice is, check this place out on other review sites before booking or just simply DON'T BOOK HERE.

Stayed here for 1 night at the end of January as we were attending a concert at the philharmonic Hall. The hotel is around a 20 minute walk from the venue which was great. Situated in the middle of Liverpool City centre. It has everything on its doorstep. The prices are very reasonable considering its location. Staff were amazing. So friendly and very helpful. We waited a little while to check in as they were short staffed when we arrived. Room was great and beds were so comfortable, we had a great night's sleep. The only issue we had was that there was no bin in the room for us to put our rubbish. There is mount pleasant multi story car park right on the hotels doorstep. Overall we had a great time at the hotel and in Liverpool itself and we will definitely be staying here in the future.

Quite disappointed with our stay to be honest , blinds were broken all the way along window so didn’t close properly and were stained , I will attach photos , definately needed curtains to ensure appropriate darkness and keep the heat in at night as big draft from newer windows even when closed . Toilet - well you definately couldn’t sit on it straight as it was too close to the wall and seat was wonky aswell .No toilet brush to clean toilet if needed during stay. Tv didn’t have any channels working , tried reception not long after check in and no one was there to speak to . Wouldn’t recommend the hotel to family’s as it was far too noisy and the mirror in room was stand alone and not attached to the wall , found another one with brackets shoved under a bed . We stayed with a one year old who aswell as us had disturbed sleep all night due to noise levels of pub below . Unhappy overall with our stay . Messaged hotel and all they could say was when booking it says there’s a pub underneath and there are staff 24/7 , we couldn’t find them so had no tv all night . When u look on their page on booking.com it says soundproof , definately not .

From here you have the city at hand and just next to train station if raining. I was pleasantly surprised by the standard of my room and would be happy to stay again. Although I would say they do need to put in a bedside table and maybe an extension lead to be able to charge ye phone next to bed. But apart from that great stay.
