Reviews summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.

The Liner Hotel garners accolades for its attentive staff and pristine cleanliness, from the spotless rooms to the well-maintained amenities. While guests appreciate the hotel's unique nautical atmosphere, some have remarked on the dated aspects and noise disturbances. Despite this, the value is considered favorable, with reasonable rates and complimentary parking.
Its proximity to Liverpool Lime Street station is a draw for many, although it contributes to the noise that can affect room comfort. Amenities are generally well-received, though updates are suggested.

Detailed Reviews
The Liner Hotel is perfectly situated next door to Lime Steeet station. From the moment you walk up to the front door the nautical theming is there. The front area is a mix of artificial grass and decking, with balcony areas reminiscent of the King of the World scene in Titanic. The reception is surrounded by fish tanks and the staff even wear captain's uniforms.
Looked at in isolation the rooms are lovely. The the bathroom is decent and has a lovely deep bath. My only little gripe is not having a socket near the bed. It's a bit annoying to have to charge your phone up across the room, especially if you're using it for your morning alarm.
Unfortunately the night we stayed there was a wedding going on. We were put in a room on the 3rd floor immediately over the flat roof of the disco, which went on till well past midnight. Luckily we'd been out until fairly late otherwise I'd have asked for a room change. It would have been nice to have been warned at check-in or better still, for wedding guests to have been allocated rooms directly above the disco. The flat roof also provides perfect housing for the local seagull community, although I appreciate there's little the hotel can do about that!
I would recommend this hotel, but would recommend asking for a room facing away from the event rooms if there's anything going in.

Dear Guest Thank you for your review It is nice to read your detailed description of the Hotel and I'm sure other Travellers will find the detail helpful. I'm pleased you enjoyed your stay overall and do apologise for the disruption caused by the Wedding taking place that night. We will re-address this point with the Front Office team and encourage better awareness when allocating bedrooms. I appreciate your point regarding the socket position in the bedroom, so much so we are currently in the process of upgrading a number of bedrooms all of which include new placement of plug and USB sockets alongside the bed. Hopefully you will have the opportunity to try on another visit. Kind Regards Guest Services

Our group of 13 spent two nights at The Liner and were impressed with the service we received and the rooms, which were clean and comfortable and very well soundproofed. I slept with my window open so could hear faint announcements from Lime St Station but as far as internal noise, I hardly heard a thing. We all dined in the restaurant on the first evening and took advantage of the pre-theatre dining menu which proved to be excellent value for money and of good quality. Thanks goes to Graham the restaurant manager for helping me to organise the meal for our party. The Castaway bar staff were pleasant and polite and the outside seating area is great for when the weather is good and you want to enjoy a drink or two. All the staff I encountered during our stay were very pleasant, reception were very helpful. The breakfast was more than adequate and had a good selection. The location is perfect for Lime St station, a couple minutes walk away and also just a 20 minute walk from the Royal Albert Docks. I would definitely stay at The Liner again if visiting Liverpool. It exceeded expectations.

Stayed in the Liner with family for a recent trip to Liverpool. Let's start with the positives! It's based in a great location within walking distance to all the main shops / thoroughfare & in truth there is little wrong with the rooms which were perfectly adequate for what we expected with a spotlessly clean bathroom...... However, what you gain in location there are several pitfalls to the hotel. When we arrived it was torrential rain outside, our room wasnt ready (not a problem as we didn't expect it to be as we arrived early!) but there was no where to go in the hotel for rest bite, no bar open / no sitting area to have tea or drinks to while away some time until the rain subsided. The main bug bearer was the noise in the hotel, we were located on the 4th floor and for the two nights we stayed there we were constantly woken up by drunken revellers staying in the hotel. The bedroom walls are paper thin and we could hear everything. No night manager appeared to be on duty to curtail the noise as when we departed the hotel to catch our flight home at 430am there were drunken idiots in the lobby making awful noise going up the lift yet the staff on duty did nothing to ensure they kept quiet hence why no guests felt under obligation while walking the floors to get to their room or indeed in their rooms at 2/3am! Insane......Our room was excessively hot & despite me turning the radiator off it seemed to be automated and still came on during certain hours. The window only opened a few inches so I was constantly sweating but in truth had the hotel not been so noisy the heat would not have curtailed me coming back. The room overlooked a train station also so from late evening and early doors you'd hear announcements..... Not what you want to hear after very little sleep due to inconsiderate guests & poor management. We loved Liverpool but unfortunately the Liner will not be our hotel of choice next time we come to the city.

Dear Guest I'm sorry to hear of a disappointing and disrupted stay. This is not what we aim for and a shame considering we operate with a full Night shift and weekend security team. We will certainly share with the relevant departments so we can do better to ensure a higher level of Guest satisfaction in the future. Please do let us know if you can consider a return stay in the future, we would love to provide you with a more comfortable experience Best Wishes

From check in to check out nothing was too much trouble at the Liner.
Pros...
Nice comfy room spotlessly clean, bed spotless and very comfy.
Free parking for residents Next door which is great.
Staff helpful when anything needed and a big shout to the restaurant manager who was extremely helpful and lovely to chat to...
Location fabulous right next to lime Street station and the theater plus a 5 min walk to centre and about 15 mins walk to Albert Docks
Breakfast has to be booked but was great tasty selection.
Cons...
Rooms have a mini bar which was empty but didn't want to use it keep anything cold as noticed stated may be charged?! Surely if not in use you should be able to utilise the facility. Tv very small and hairdryer is useless.
Sadly bar wasn't open on monday/Tues due to staffing but could have a drink in the brasserie (unfortunately no cocktails).
Lifts very close to our room and found the service lift and one of the others made a constant noise which was very annoying.
DEF need to sort that.
No Aircon but large fan in room if you like to hear anything suggest you don't use it..
It's on a hill so a bit of a walk up from the centre.
But would def recommend and will def be staying again if ever return to Liverpool

Hello Claire Thank you for your review and delighted to know you found your room spotlessly clean and comfortable. Please feel free to use your mini-bar for personal use. They have been emptied to allow Guests to store their own products as based on Guest feedback this is the preferred facility in the room. We will update the room notice to provide the correct information! Happy to say Castaway Bar is now open Tue-Sat each week. We appreciate your feedback and look forward to welcoming you back sometime.

I booked a two night B&B break for myself and my wife through Booking.com. The mai nreason I chose this hotel is because it was reasonably central (next to Lime Street Station, more of that later) and had free car parking. Check in is at 3pm but the time you can access the parking was not clear on the booking so I rang and asked. It seems you can park for free on arrival from 1pm, two hours before check in, and until 1pm on departure, two hours after check out. Parking outside this time costs £5 which is still reasonable considering the NCP 50 yards down the road is £12 for 24 hours. When we arrived the car park was full (it is also a public car park) but the really helpful guy on the entrance said there is usually a space within 20 minutes at the most as people are in and out all day. We did in fact get in within 5 minutes.
Check in was speedy and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was a good size, reasonably well equipped (I am always pleased to see biscuits), and there was also a large plug in fan as the room was not air conditioned. This did mean however that we had the window open continuously. Regrettably, our room overlooked the end of the platforms at Lime Street Station and every word from the trai n announcer could be heard, from about 530am to 1130 pm. The continuous diesel noise from a parked train from 6am for 20 minutes was also really annoying. The rooms on our side of the hotel facing the station were all odd numbered so maybe the trick is to ask for an even numbered room.
Breakfast was very good, with gluten free toast provided.
Other than the station noise the only other disappointment was the tired, soft mattress. On the positive side, I often judge a hotel by the quality of the towels provided and these were magnificent, large, think and fluffy.
So, in summary, a reasonably priced hotel, excellent friendly staff, but ask for an even numbered room.

I stayed at this hotel with my husband and 10year old son between sunday 22nd august to thursday 26th august. We stayed in room 652 (family room). i have emailed the manager of the hotel Katie about these issues and received no response.
On sunday when we checked in we went up to the room and the first thing we noticed was the wallpaper peeling off the wall close to the door. we then entered our sons room and noticed that the carpet was coming up around the doorway.
we moved the twin beds together in his bedroom and as a result moved the side cabinet. on the wall behind this there was a stain (like something was spilt down the wall?).
when putting his clothes in the wardrobe there was a sock and pair of childrens underwear which we put in the bin as we were unsure if these were clean or dirty.
on the first evening there was an unpleasant smell from the bathroom. we hadnt spent much time in the room until this point. the bathroom smelt very strongly of urine. the next day the cleaner came in but this smell did not go. we therefore went out to purchase some wipes and on closer inspection there were urine marks down the front and side of the toilet. after cleaning it smelt much better and therefore we are concerned that the toilet had not been cleaned during the room clean prior to us staying in the room.
on the second day when having breakfast i was served mouldy toast. i did bring this to the attention of the waitress at the time who said she would share this with the chef.
when making the booking we were not aware that the family rooms were located next to the lifts. as a result our son was awake very early every morning as the noise was very loud each time the lifts were being used. it may be worth making a note of this on the website?
we were very disappointed with the cleanliness of the room particularly given that we are still experiencing a pandemic. there were so many other things in the room that were unclean such as the curtains and the fans.
the mattress on the bed was very hard and uncomfortable and we had to take a duvet from one of the twin beds and lie on this to make it more comfortable. are there any plans to replace these mattresses? do they get checked?
why did we not raise this with you during our stay? i will explain. our son has autism. we tried to keep our disappointment away from him to ensure that this did not affect his stay. he has been looking forward to this holiday for many months as he is a massive beatles fan and loves liverpool. moving rooms would have been distressing for him and this is the reason we did not flag this during the stay. if it would have been just myself and my husband we would have asked to leave the hotel with the way the room was presented and the lack of cleanliness of the room.
Overall we feel very sad to say that we did not enjoy our stay at the hotel and feel this could have been different with better cleaning standards and repairs to the decor.

Had booked to stay last year as we were going to a concert, however due to COVID it was cancelled and we rebooked for this year. Concert was cancelled again but we decided to still stay at The Liner for a short break. On arrival we were very pleased to see lots of sanitation stations in several areas of the hotel (on departure unfortunately several were empty). Staff were very polite and friendly on Reception and we were informed the restaurant was closed but breakfast would still be served. Our room on the 4th floor was spacious and clean, bathroom was well equipped with good towels and toiletries. We were overlooking the train station but we personally did not find it a problem. Breakfast was table service with juices in individual bottles and coffee/tea being served. Option to have cereal, pastries or fruit salad before the hot food. Everything was cooked perfectly with no complaints.
We found The Liner to be in a good location, great price with free car parking and very clean rooms.
Definitely would return and highly recommend

Lovely hotel. Great room. Very clean. Nice smiling welcome from the door man. Great features and old style quality. Fantastic fish tank in the reception/restaurant. The room was warm. The beds were comfortable. Coffee/tea tray. Mini fridge to buy from. In room menu seems reasonable. Bathroom a good size and clean. Bath with shower, turn the tap to work the shower is a good tip!! Fluffy towels and nice complimentary toiletries. Level 2 you still hear noise from any events - wedding. Reception told us they'd got no doubles and put us in singles, online they had doubles still tho! If you're going thru Liverpool Hospital it's possibly cheaper to book direct-we could have got breakfast included and for cheaper self booking. I recommend the restaurant, great service, lovely food gf/df available, see the menu. Free overnight parking.

The Hotel was clean and tidy and the location was good, not too far to walk from the railway station. The room for some unknown reason was very hot and the fan supplied was a god send, but a little noisy (minor complaint).
As we are still under lockdown we missed the buffet style breakfast, but the full english breakfast will keep you going, albeit small.
They offer you 25% discount on food and drinks from the Castaway pub next door.
We did try to eat there on 2 occasions but never got round to ordering as the staff seemed too busy making cocktails for everybody else. So we ended up walking into the city centre, 3 minute walk, to find a bar/restaurant that was more interested in serving food than making cocktails.

Hello, Thank you for your review. I'm happy to read you found the hotel to be clean and tidy with an ideal location, close to Lime Street Station. I'm sorry to read that you found your room to be on the hot side, we have had some very high temperatures throughout June / July which can make the rooms a little toasty but I'm glad the fan could cool it down for you. The breakfast in our Brasserie is popular and I'm pleased to know you enjoyed it, albeit missing our usual Buffet Breakfast option, which we hope will be able to return very soon. We hope we can welcome you back aboard again in the future. Kind Regards, Daniel

Chose this place to stay as a base for visiting family as it is a short walk from Lime Street Station. I was impressed with the comfort, cleanliness and services offered,( except one lady on reception who came across as sullen and rude when we asked her for more tea and milks, also when she had to reactive our keys, rest of staff were wonderful)
We had the breakfast daily ,this was cooked to a very high standard and there was a good selection right up to service end. We didn’t visit the restaurant but menu looked good and was very busy at times suggesting it was worth a visit. We had a bar snack and can thoroughly recommend the tortilla stack with homemade tortillas.
Room servicing was very good and thorough.
Holiday decor represents a cruise liner and therefore looks dated although it’s not.
Would definitely book here again.

The noise is really loud, but it just stopped at 12am on the dot, nice sleep, until 4.30am and it came on again, I think its only an issue on the top floor, as our friends were on the floor below and didn't hear it. you have a choice really, the train station and all the announcements, but they don't go on late or the old boiler which does kick in nice and early.
