Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We arrived at the Selina on Wednesday evening at approx 9.45 p.m. The receptionist was unaware of our booking even though we had confirmation of the booking. She offered us 2 singe beds in a dormatory, this was unacceptable as we had booked a twin room. After about 15 minutes a colleague popped in and was able to unblock from the Data system a room. We went to the room, where there was indelible ink in the bedding, the toilet was leaking and the ceiling above the shower was leaking, the curtains did not fit the window so light shone through from early morning and the neighbours knocked at the door to tell us t stop talking as they wanted to sleep, (the walls were paper thin), and continued to knock on the wall through the evening to keep the noise down (we are 2 60 year olds not children). Wouldn't want to stay here again, might be fine for a dad and lad going on a football trip but was a very disappointing stay.

we had a warm welcome going into the hotel which was nice but the room had no tv in. the room itself was lovely but very basic. in the early hours of the morning I heard banging on a door next to us which sounded like a couple of drunk men trying to get in a room. you could hear everything in the rooms! there was also a domestic happening outside which kept me up for a while. the lift is super small so if you don’t like being in small spaces i would maybe take the stairs. the vending machine was handy and the coffee we had in the morning was lovely!

Room Tip: use the stairs if you don’t like small spaces due to how small the lift is.

We should have stayed here for 2 nights for our anniversary but our room was dirty, faeces and pubic hair on the bathroom door and dirty bedroom floor to be specific. We was woken up from around 2am from other guests returning from nights out banging doors and shouting so we decided to check out early in the morning. The lady at reception was very helpful and apologetic and tried to contact the manger however was unable to so she took our details and was told to expect a call within the hour to possibly sort a refund for the second night. Been over a month now and still no call. Would never book here again and would not advise others to unless you want no sleep!

Excellent value and location. Staff were great and free welcome drink is a nice touch. Because the hotel wasn't busy we got a free upgrade to a fabulous room with a huge comfortable bed. The breakfast was good maybe a bit costly. Rob.

Lovely staff, great location and lovely rooms! We came for a comedy show and the location was amazing! The quirky decor was so cute and original! Would definitely recommend! We had the suite room and it was lovely! And even got a free welcome drink! There is parking across the road which was £5 for the day and night very reasonable and easy to access :) thank you again for a lovely stay x

The hotel is more a hostel rather than hotel. We did not know this when booking. Most hotels in Liverpool were fully booked. On arrival we discovered why Liverpool was so popular during our week - The political Labour Party had their conference! All the usual chain hotels were full. Reception at Seliina was friendly and helpfull. Our room was a disappointment and way over-priced, probably all accommodation in Liverpool was over-priced that week. The room was clean and the bed suitable. Clothes hangers numbered two. There was no tea making facilities at all. We were offered to use the basement communal kitchen. There were no cups and too far upstairs to carry a morning cuppa anyway. There was no TV. The bathroom was adequate, though I had to unblocke the sink to get the water to flow on day one. But the servcing was othjerwise good: daily fresh towels and toilet paper. We used the diningroom for our first breakfast. Service was so slow we never tried it again. Fortunately there are plenty of excellent cafes and restaurant all around. Many much cheaper and cosier than Selinas, which is a bit of cheap aircraft hanger type room. Not really a Hotel but very friendly staff

Very very basic. Small and functional rooms, but signs of wear. Heating doesn’t work so was lent a little oil radiator. Walls are extremely thin, can easily hear word for word the conversation of the room opposite. Lift is very small - wouldn’t fit more than one person with luggage. No clean towels left between 1st and 2nd night stay but not sure if that it expected with this level of hotel.

Horrible stay. Area was not accessible as stated, got to the hostal and the entrance was blocked by chairs, had to call the hostel as door was locked. the only accessible room was not available as door wouldn't open due to problems with keycard, room was very small and was barely able to get around, shower was not accessible. Hotel had a strong smell of cannabis and walls were Thin so could here everything. Would not recommend this hostel

Incredibly thin walls which meant that very little sleep was had. Some residents arrived back at their rooms at all times of night and made a lot of noise, despite a quiet after 11.30pm rule. When I called reception for help there was no answer. When we checked out I brought it to receptions attention. I was told that the manager would be in touch that day but that hasn’t happened.
