Good hotel spoilt by below average staff. I was excited to see what I thought would of been a touch of higher service and room features in a Liverpool hotel. Liverpool lacks good hotels. Anyway, rooms where great, clean, good facilities, spacious and lived up to other Melia hotels around the world. Ignore the info, you can park outside if you wish. Check in is easy and honestly if you don't care about service and or you just need somewhere toe sleep this hotel is a good option. However, let downs of the hotel: 1) Breakfast, awful, honestly, poor quality, wouldn't eat there again, please look after your insides and eat somewhere else. 2) Roomservice number rings out, attempted twice for 10 minutes at a time, poor, not even on the weekend. 3) Cleaning staff do not keep items left in room if not of value, so if you forget anything you may need you will lose it (TAKE CARE!) 4) as mentioned earlier in another review from someone else I believe I could take the words from their mouth re-the staff : "having encountered so many staff who were either rude, sullen, unhelpful, uncommunicative or inappropriate" I wouldn't stay there again due the staff. I mean there is a girl at FOH who has a lovely manner and approach too things, but I'd probably say she's useless given there was no call back as promised 3 times. Cheers

Hotel's Favourite
Amazing hotel; rooms are very modern, light and airy with high ceilings. Huge bed and shower. Complimentary drinks in fridge Secret garden and sky bar are fantastic with lovely cocktails . Excellent service in Gino’ restaurant; food was fabulous. Plenty of choice at breakfast they just need to advertise that you can ask for eggs to be cooked to order and veggie sausages The Gino reward scheme is great; as we were staying at the hotel we had a complimentary drink with dinner and 10% discount. I asked 3 members of staff about the complimentary drinks. I felt that a better system could be put into place where hotel bookings and dinner booking are combined so I didn’t have to ask about the drinks Hotel is near pier head and has lots of Italian Restaurants close by I would definitely stay here again

Hello lawrenceEngland, Thank you for your lovely feedback! I could not agree more when it comes to the amazing cocktails from Gino`s Secret Garden and Skybar - and as a bonus I have to mention the breathtaking views of Liverpool from the 18th floor - what more would you want? Noted your feedback regarding the complimentary drinks and I can assure you that our teams are working on a better system in order to improve this service. I do hope to see you again with us in Liverpool! Thank you , Roxana-Catalina Assistant Front of House Manager

Stayed here for 2 nights & couldn’t have been more pleased with our choice of hotel. Never stayed with the “Melia” chain prior to this stay, & normally stay elsewhere in Liverpool, but would 100% return next time we visit. The check-in process was really quick & efficient - note that a £50 holding deposit was taken which will be returned on check-out as long as the room is in the same condition as it was upon arrival - & the receptionist was super friendly & welcoming. We were given an 11th floor room, which overlooked the city of Liverpool - as far as the Radio Tower, Liverpool Lime Street train station & beyond which was a lovely addition. The room was a good size, modernised, extremely clean & had ample amounts of storage. Our highlights were the extremely comfy beds, the efficient ‘chromecasting’ capabilities to the tv, & the high pressure shower. We were pleasantly surprised to find that the items in the fridge were free of charge, & were stocked up the following day by the cleaners too! The location of the hotel is ideal whether you’re venturing down to the Albert Docks, or into the hustle & bustle of the city centre. The hotel is roughly a 5/8 minute walk to Castle Street where you’re greeted by most restaurants & bars etc. & it is a further 10/12 minute walk to the shopping district & Liverpool One. Ubers are easy to order if going further afar. There is a Tesco & Sainsbury’s on the doorstep of the hotel which is a plus. Residents are provided a discount code for the NCP Liverpool Capital car park - right next door to the hotel - which took our parking down to just £18 for 48 hours which was a bargain - just request the voucher upon checking out. We did not experience the 360 Sky Bar or Gino D’Acampo restaurant within the hotel, however paying guests are provided a 10% discount voucher when checking in which is a good incentive. There is large footfall from outside customers coming to access these facilities of the hotel which creates a nice ambience. Highly recommend this hotel for short / long haul stays as long as you’re ok with heights due to the high-floor hotel rooms.

I have already responded to the survey sent to me the following day by Melia, but nobody has bothered to contact me to discuss our experience, so I will repeat my comments here. My husband booked the Studio room as a surprise treat for a big birthday for me. Our experience was pretty underwhelming from start to end. The one plus point was that the room was really lovely, with a comfortable bed, good facilities and a nice view. That is basically all that I can say in its favour. Even on this front, great though the room was, it would have benefited from a set of instructions for e.g. the coffee machine, shower and TV, which we could only work out through a process of elimination. The negative points: 1. We had booked a half-board option, meaning that we would have a meal in the attached restaurant - at no point was my husband contacted to book a table, this was not an option when booking the room, and when he tried to book a table on the morning of our visit he was told that the only table available was at 9:00pm - this put something of a dampener on our evening. 2. When we had the meal, knowing that we had a £25 per person allowance towards food and having already put drinks on our room "tab", we expected the same for dinner. We were very surprised to be asked to pay outright after the meal rather than on departure, and were even more surprised when we double checked the bill and found that we had been vastly overcharged (by about double), as the server did not deduct the £25 per head allowance! I went straight back and had this refunded but it smacked of poor communication and customer service. It seems that the hotel does not communicate with the restaurant at all. 3. On a related point, had we realised that the restaurant, although attached to the hotel, was a different entity altogether, we may not have considered staying here. It was packed to the rafters with parties and loud groups, and was not really the place for a couple. 4. Being a Saturday night, the bar at the restaurant was understandably busy. Why then was it so badly understaffed, with just 3 staff taking large drinks orders for both those stood at the bar like ourselves, and for diners already seated at the restaurant? We stood at the bar for 15 minutes before any staff so much as acknowledged our presence. Even in less salubrious establishments, it's common for bar staff to catch a punter's eye and indicate that they will be with them soon. 5. My husband accidentally spilled some wine and a manager came over with some paper to mop it up. This in itself was fine and helpful, but the manager then made a couple of inappropriate comments that left us feeling uncomfortable. 6. At one point my husband went outside for a cigarette and got chatting to a homeless person outside. On returning inside the hotel he promised to buy the person a hot drink and take it out to him. However your staff seemed determined that we would not do this! They refused to sell us a cup of coffee and one receptionist actually said the words "we don't encourage helping the homeless". We were speechless at the callousness of this comment and felt really bad that we'd been unable to give the man his promised drink. 7. Due to the late timing of our meal, we didn't finish eating until nearly 11pm. We wanted to have a quiet drink afterwards but were told, quite abruptly, that the downstairs bar was closing and we would have to go to the Sky bar on the 18th floor. What we weren't told though, is that we would need a staff key fob to activate that floor in the lift... we endured a farcical half hour or so going up and down in the lift, our own key fobs periodically working and then not working, trying to take the stairs, etc, to that point that we didn't feel like going any more, which leads me to... 8. We were told at check in that we could order room service at any point by scanning a QR code on the TV. We tried this after giving up on the bar, but could not find any QR code anywhere nor any instructions on how to do this. 9. There was a "room service" number on the bedside telephone, but on ringing this it just rang out for approximately 3-4 minutes before I hung up in frustration. 10. Having encountered so many staff who were either rude, sullen, unhelpful, uncommunicative or inappropriate, we decided against going down for breakfast the next morning in order to avoid any further encounters. In normal circumstances we would have ordered breakfast to the room but this did not seem to be an option after having failed to order drinks the previous night. On the whole we were bitterly disappointed with what had been intended to be a luxury experience for my significant birthday. We had paid a not inconsiderable sum for the room / half board accommodation, paid a further not inconsiderable sum on top for drinks and towards the meal, and missed out on breakfast. We will not be returning.

Couldn’t fault this hotel. Staff all very well trained they were really friendly and helpful. They made our stay so much better. Peter the restaurant manager was exceptional. No matter wether in the restaurant, reception and bars the staff were brilliant. All 4 of us enjoyed our evening meal and breakfast, couldn’t fault anything. Had a great night sleep. Complementary stocked mini fridge with soft drinks. Sky bar had a good atmosphere and great views. And again the staff were very good. Across the road is the Puffin rooms for Live music, food and also if you like your whiskey and cigars you’re in for a treat. Railway station few minutes walk away.

Nothing to fault about the hotel room itself, it was clean and modern with a nice view. Bed was very big and comfortable and the smart TV connected with no issues. Wouldn’t change anything about the room. However, I emailed in advance to say we would appreciate any sort of early check in as we would be arriving around 10-11, and we had to go up to reception every 30 mins to ask can we go up to the room yet even though other travellers were checking in ahead and going to their rooms. Only got checked in at around 2:10 after 3 hours of waiting and asking. I understand you can’t guarantee an early check in but seeing others able to get their room before us was disheartening. Apart from one lovely staff member who finally checked us in, the rest were quite rude and cold towards us when we were asking to check in. Also would not recommend the Ginos restaurant at all. I got the arrabiata pasta and my partner the carbonara, and they were the worst pastas we’ve ever ate, completely bland and received no Parmesan until I asked and it arrived 15 minutes later when we were basically finished. The garlic bread was also completely burnt underneath and tasted like charcoal as a result, avoid the restaurant and go somewhere in the city!
